Chapter 490: Chapter 341: Preparing to Depart
A reply came quickly, followed by a price list and a virtual transaction link.
Looking at the dazzling array of products, Wu Liangchen couldn’t help but be astonished.
This arms dealer was truly resourceful. The list was full of high-quality items only insiders could get their hands on.
After a moment of consideration, Wu Liangchen bought two unregistered tickets for the high-speed maglev train.
The price was staggering, but the included perks were very tempting. The ability to carry luggage without inspection was worth the price of admission alone.
After all, it would be a shame to have to abandon so many firearms.
To be on the safe side, Wu Liangchen also bought a large supply of military-grade energy bars, wilderness survival gear, and untraceable communication devices.
After he paid, the seller quickly sent an address.
Locker 322 at XX Shopping Plaza, tomorrow morning. A password was included.
It was clear that after the safe house at the cafe had been exposed, the arms dealer had become much more cautious.
Wu Liangchen had just saved the address when a call came in from an unknown number.
Wu Liangchen’s brow furrowed slightly.
’Strange, who could this be?’
Despite his confusion, he answered the call.
"Excuse me... is this Mr. Wu?" a cautious female voice asked from the other end. It sounded vaguely familiar.
"Yes, this is he," Wu Liangchen replied.
"Oh my god, it’s really you! I’m Lin Wei. Do you remember me?" The voice on the other end grew noticeably excited.
’Lin Wei... that reporter?’
Wu Liangchen was surprised. He had no idea how the reporter had found his number or what she wanted from him.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the line, Lin Wei was ecstatic.
She hadn’t expected the information she’d bought on the black market to be so accurate, that she’d actually be able to reach Wu Liangchen.
She stammered, "Mr. Wu, I hope I’m not bothering you. I didn’t have any other motive, I just... wanted to talk to you."
Wu Liangchen chuckled softly.
He could hear the nervousness in Lin Wei’s voice and knew she meant no harm. "Is there something you need?" he asked.
"I’d like to treat you to a meal, if you’re free!" Lin Wei said, mustering all her courage, her cheeks flushing bright red.
"A meal won’t be necessary. I’m leaving the day after tomorrow and have a lot to take care of, so I’m afraid I can’t," Wu Liangchen said calmly.
’Leaving the day after tomorrow?’
The news made Lin Wei forget her disappointment at being rejected. She immediately asked, "Leaving? Mr. Wu, where are you planning to go?"
Wu Liangchen didn’t bother hiding it from the reporter. "I’m planning to go to Zhongjing," he said directly.
Hearing this, Lin Wei sucked in a sharp breath. She immediately sat up straight, her expression turning serious. "Mr. Wu, I know you’re incredibly powerful, but the situation in Zhongjing is extremely complex."
"It’s the Alliance capital. The various powers there are deeply entrenched, and the politics are treacherous. When you get there, you must remember not to act rashly. And don’t trust anyone easily."
Lin Wei then recounted the various rumors about Zhongjing she had heard through her journalism circles.
Wu Liangchen listened quietly without interrupting.
Though the information was quite general, he could still sense Lin Wei’s sincerity.
"That’s all I know. I hope it’s helpful to you," Lin Wei said.
"Thank you," Wu Liangchen said.
"Don’t thank me. You eliminated a great menace for Qing Province. I should be the one thanking you!" Lin Wei said with a laugh.
"You’re too kind. Is there anything else?" Wu Liangchen asked, preparing to end the call.
"You... please be careful!" Lin Wei seemed to want to say more, but in the end, her words turned into a simple exhortation.
"Alright. You take care too." After saying this, Wu Liangchen hung up and immediately crushed the SIM card.
The reporter was clearly a thoughtful person; he could sense her goodwill even through the phone.
But to be safe, Wu Liangchen decided to destroy all his communication cards.
Fortunately, the new batch of untraceable cards he’d purchased was arriving tomorrow, so he didn’t have to worry about being cut off.
「The next morning.」
Wu Liangchen put on a light disguise and headed to the shopping plaza.
While technically in the main urban area, it was in a remote location, so it wasn’t crowded.
Wu Liangchen quickly found locker 322 and retrieved his items.
Just as he was about to leave, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure.
It was Tian Yushi!
She was wearing a well-tailored, light purple casual outfit today, which made her seem less defiant and more serene.
She appeared to be just strolling around, without a single guard by her side.
Just as Wu Liangchen’s gaze fell on her, she seemed to sense it and turned to look back.
Their eyes met. Tian Yushi froze, her expression turning incredibly complex.
It was a mixture of surprise, excitement, and curiosity.
There was even a hint of awe she herself hadn’t noticed.
After all, Wu Liangchen had annihilated a century-old aristocratic family right before her eyes and slain two great masters. Such a feat was enough to silence anyone.
Even Tian Yushi, who had always held herself in high regard, had to admit that Wu Liangchen surpassed her in both talent and strength.
Wu Liangchen was also a little surprised to run into her, but only slightly. He immediately turned to leave.
’I fought her once before. Logically, I should probably kill her now that we’ve met again. But my cooperation with the Tian family has been smooth, and Tian Kun has shown me goodwill. For his sake, I’ll let her be.’
Watching Wu Liangchen’s rapidly retreating back, Tian Yushi seemed lost in thought. Then, she smiled and turned to leave as well.
After getting what he needed, Wu Liangchen returned to the abandoned factory.
Song Ling’Er was packing their bags. She had disassembled the sniper rifle into its most basic components and was now camouflaging them.
She also packed as much ammunition as she could, just in case.
She was so focused on her task that Wu Liangchen didn’t have the heart to disturb her.
Just then, however, Song Ling’Er stopped what she was doing. She frowned and tilted her head, listening intently.
"What is it?" Wu Liangchen asked.
Song Ling’Er sounded uncertain. "Big Brother Wu, do you hear sirens?"
Wu Liangchen had heard them too, but the sound was extremely faint, likely coming from a great distance.
He was surprised that Song Ling’Er could hear them as well.
After all, ever since he’d achieved the state of Witnessing the Divine, his hearing had improved dramatically.
Yet this girl was able to pick up a subtle sound that he thought only he could hear. It spoke volumes about the keenness of her senses.
It seemed that after unlocking her root of Magic, Song Ling’Er’s abilities had all been greatly enhanced.
That was a good thing, though. In this cruel world, any extra strength meant a better chance of survival.
Song Ling’Er could feel the changes in her own body as well.
The birds outside, for instance—despite their incredible speed, they appeared to her as if in slow motion. She could see every minute movement with perfect clarity.
It was a novel sensation.
With this new perception, Song Ling’Er was confident she could even hit a moving target from a kilometer away.
Soon, the packing was finished.
It was late, the world outside was quiet, and Song Ling’Er had already gone to bed.
Wu Liangchen, however, sat cross-legged and began to meditate, silently regulating his breath.
After entering the Flawless Divine Realm, Wu Liangchen had, in a sense, transcended the limits of a mortal. He didn’t even need to sleep anymore.
Now, with each long, deep breath, every muscle in Wu Liangchen’s body vibrated rhythmically.
Though he sat perfectly still, the effect was better than practicing his Martial Arts for hours.
Finally, once his mind and body were completely serene, Wu Liangchen could clearly perceive the changes within himself.
His Qi and Blood flowed like molten lead, surging through his meridians. His bones, already as white as jade, grew even more lustrous, and his ribs were beginning to connect, fusing into a single solid plate.
The state of a Flawless Divine, Incorruptible Body was finally made manifest.
