Chapter 1778: Valuable objects appeared
Chapter 1778: Valuable objects appeared
From MC Perspective
Time passed.
The shop remained open until midnight. Then, I told the members to close the shop; otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to get any rest.
Otto and Patrick closed up. Fortunately, there were no customers at that hour; the last one had come half an hour ago.
But today’s business was disappointing. There were no real treasures bought or sold. I then went downstairs to meet with the others.
A few minutes later,
We all gathered in the living area. Everyone sat down to discuss the day. My gaze fell on Otto. With his exceptional ears, he can hear things others cannot.
“Otto, did anyone come to gather information?” I asked straightforwardly.
Hearing that, everyone became interested.
Otto nodded his head before saying, “Master, you are right. People from the small wizard associations have come to try their luck.”
My eyes gleamed with a twinkle. I was right. Men from the wizard associations had indeed arrived.
I composed my thoughts and said, “The main goal of our organization is to collect intel. The antique business is just for show. The day went well. Let’s continue to work like that.”
Everyone else nodded their heads in agreement.
…
Meanwhile,
Many forces were paying attention to the shop owner, Frank. They learned the news of the first day’s business.
After knowing that the first day didn’t go well, they weren’t surprised. They came to know that the owner, Frank, was not looking after the shop personally.
Instead, the staff were handling the business. These forces knew that the staff weren’t ordinary wizards either; they were all Supreme Wizards.
So, the forces understood that Frank only pays attention when necessary. The wizard associations decided not to probe further, fearing it would dissatisfy him.

The following day, Manager Lara phoned Vincent Carey and learned about yesterday’s business.
After hearing that it didn’t go well, she decided to refer Vincent’s shop to a few of her acquaintances. She knows Vincent is doing this to hide his real identity.
But she also knows that Vincent possesses great appraisal knowledge. During his early days, Vincent had worked underground to identify unknown items. So, she was not worried about his work.

The Leader, Edmund Smith, was reviewing reports. His men had delayed completing important tasks because of the internal turmoil a couple of days ago. But he had solved the problem already; no one was going to cause trouble anymore.
After going through the report, he summoned his assistant. The assistant was none other than the Supreme Wizard, Jonah.
When Jonah arrived, Edmund nodded to him before saying, “We have many unfinished tasks. The clients will get angry. We have to do something about it.”
Jonah replied, “We lack manpower. We need to recruit more wizards.”
A quick gleam appeared in Edmund’s eyes. He, too, thought about recruiting more people, but it would cost money. He didn’t know the exact details of their treasury.
“Do we have the money to recruit them?” Edmund asked.
Jonah shook his head. He knew the details of the treasury. They didn’t have enough money to pay their existing members, let alone recruit new ones.
Edmund saw through his thoughts.
“Cough!”
He let out a cough before asking, “Do we have anything we can sell?”
Jonah snapped out of his thoughts. He heard the leader’s question, and for some reason, the image of Frank appeared in his mind.
His eyes gleamed. He had a good idea.
Jonah said, “Boss, I have an idea. Why don’t we sell antique pieces to shop owner Frank?”
Edmund was stunned. Then he recalled yesterday’s events. He knew Frank’s business and had seen the collections; even he was interested in some of the items. He understood what Jonah meant.
He turned toward Jonah and asked, “Do we have antique pieces in our treasury?”
Jonah shook his head. “I know someone who wants to sell his antique piece. He believes it is very valuable.”
Edmund smiled. He understood what Jonah wanted to do.
“Good, you can get a commission. But it won’t be enough. We need to find more items. Shop owner Frank has given us an opportunity to open a new line of work,” Edmund said with a smile.
When the meeting ended, Jonah left. He was going to meet his acquaintance to help him sell the antique piece.

Shop
It was the second day of the shop, and there was a steady stream of customers. Customers from nearby satellite cities had come as well.
Fortunately, this time there were useful items brought in. All of their grades were Grade-8 and below.
Otto and Patrick were doing good work. I told them not to worry about the money. If there was an important item, we could buy it directly.
I would give them mid- or top-grade mana stones. If I took out super-grade mana stones, it would surprise people too much.
Time passed.
An old man brought a piece of wood for appraisal. He believed the wood was no ordinary item and contained traces of magic.
But Otto and Patrick didn’t find anything. The old man refused to leave. He was a Supreme Wizard himself, so he was not afraid of the staff.
I was watching this scene from the office. When things were about to get out of hand, I left the room.
Creak!
I walked directly up to the old man. My appearance stunned the other customers in the gallery.
Gasp!
There was a loud exclamation. The customers didn’t expect Frank to appear, as he hadn’t shown himself yesterday.
I ignored the noise and stood in front of the old man. I glanced at him before turning towards Otto and Patrick.
“Boss, the old man says this piece of wood is valuable, but we didn’t find anything abnormal,” Otto said.
“Yes, boss. I didn’t find anything abnormal either,” Patrick added.
“Humph!” The old man snorted. “Kid, you are an appraiser. See it for yourself.”
Hearing the old man’s words, I nodded to him.
