Chapter 1779: Rare wood piece

Chapter 1779: Rare wood piece

The Shop

I accepted the dark wood from Otto’s hands. At this time, the other customers heard the conversation and drew near to us.

The old man’s eyes gleamed with a twinkle. He knew the truth. He believed that his piece of wood was a valuable item.

Otto and Patrick turned towards their Master as well. Their decade-old eyes didn’t notice anything special.

But the old man was a Supreme Wizard as well. They didn’t know why he would lie.

Frank had appeared as well. Magic Lord Rock was sitting in the corner chair, watching the drama unfold. He wanted to see what Master Vincent was going to do.

“How many talents is he hiding?” Rock thought.

The identity of the Silver Tower was special. Yet the kid wanted to develop his own power. He knew the kid’s ambition was great. But he didn’t know whether the kid could truly identify the item.

At the same time, my gaze fell on the dark wood. At first, I tried to sense the wood without relying on the system’s power.

My gaze deepened. I saw tiny pieces of mana footprints. So, I found out the old man was not lying.

But I didn’t know its use, so I could only ask the system. I used the system function to probe.

[Ding! Probing done]

[Ding! It has mana traces left by a Magic Lord who used healing-type magic to cure injuries.]

[Ding! An injured person below Supreme Wizard status can use the piece of wood to heal their injuries.]

The system results sounded in my mind. After digesting the information, a bright smile appeared on my face. I raised my head and saw everyone’s gaze on me. I looked at the old man and spoke.

“The old man is right. This piece of wood has mana traces left behind by a healing-type Magic Lord. It has a one-time use for those below Supreme Wizard. They can heal their injuries with this piece of wood,” I said in a calm tone.

Gasp!

Strong exclamations sounded. They were surprised by the shop owner Frank’s knowledge. Not only had he identified the piece of wood, but he explained its uses as well.

The old man’s eyes filled with respect because he had hidden the truth from them. He knew some of the origin behind the wood.

He had obtained it from the habitat of a deceased Magic Lord who was known for his healing magic while he was alive.

I saw that the old man was completely convinced.

“Are you going to sell it?” I asked straightforwardly.

“No,” the old man shook his head.

Now he knew it could only be used once. He was going to sell the wood to a dying wizard; perhaps he could make a lot of money then.

“Since you are not selling it, then pay the appraisal fees before leaving,” I said to the old man.

The old man’s smile disappeared. He had almost forgotten about it. Shop owner Frank himself had come to identify the wood; he couldn’t afford to offend the man.

“Alright, I’ll pay the appraisal fees,” the old man said, gritting his teeth.

“Hank, bill him the appraisal fee before sending him out,” I said to Hank.

Hank nodded before leading the old man away. Seeing that, I turned towards the other customers.

“Everyone has seen it. I don’t work for free. You have to pay a fee if you are not selling your items here. For others who are planning to sell, we do a free appraisal for them.” After saying that, I returned to the office.

Gasp!

The people exclaimed once again. Some of them had influential backgrounds and quickly shared the news with the outside world.

Especially the forces in the Crystal City; they were learning firsthand what was happening here.

Even the city authorities had planted men here, sharing the news back with them.

After learning the old man tried to sell a rare piece of wood, they were all surprised and shocked. The spies shared the information provided by Frank.

The dying level-9 Wizards from prominent clans and families were shocked.

They wanted the piece of wood. They sent their men out to look for the old man. If they could get it in time, they could heal their injuries.

Even the old man didn’t know about the things happening behind his back.

Hank billed the amount and collected the fee. The next second, the old man left the place. He had already felt the hungry eyes of the customers and wanted to escape.

Right after the old man left the gate, the customers standing in line received the news from their higher-ups.

Knowing the old man was carrying a rare piece of wood, they left the line and chased after him. But the old man was a Supreme Wizard; it wasn’t going to be easy to catch him.

Inside the shop, I noticed the scene outside. I saw the fleeing old man and the many people pursuing him.

“It’s just a Grade-9 and below item,” I thought. “What would happen if a high-grade item appeared? The entire city would be in chaos.”

I shook my head before paying attention to the business. Among the customers, representatives from various forces had arrived.

I knew it was impossible to hide information from them. If one of them knew anything, the news would spread to other forces soon.

Time passed.

At midnight, the shop closed again. This time, the customers stayed until the very end. I sighed inwardly.

Today was better than yesterday. Still, there were many trashy items brought by customers in the name of family heirlooms.

I didn’t know when a big order would appear. I calmed my heart and went downstairs to speak with the staff.

When I got down there. I sat down and started asking questions. I wanted to know whether anyone from the Magic Towers had come.

The reputation of the shop should have spread to the nearby satellite cities. I didn’t know when the news would reach the magic city.
