Chapter 1751 1751: Leaving the city effortlessly
Dust City
Forbidden Wizard Remi didn’t leave any nook or corner unsearched. His mental power swept across every place, but he didn’t find a single clue.
He furrowed his eyebrows. He knew the answers lay with the intruder; as long as he captured that person, he would understand everything.
Swoosh!
The next second, he disappeared from the spot. The customers, officials, staff, and the hotel manager were left slumped on the ground.
Everyone’s face was filled with terror. They didn’t know who this person was, but he was definitely stronger than the supreme wizards.
Only the official, the old man who had answered questions earlier, knew the real terror. He suspected that person was a Forbidden Wizard, no weaker than their own city lord.
He kept this matter in his heart. If such a formidable wizard was here, then the old city lord must have known about it.
The group of people then silently left the place. They made a collective decision not to speak about it; if they angered the powerful wizard, everyone would die.
…
From MC Perspective
In the Gregor Mansion, my mouth curved into an wide arc. I was worried that Forbidden Wizard Remi would continue to stay here, but fortunately, he had left the place. Next, I had to find a good opportunity to leave.
Not long after, I found there was no activity nearby. I quietly appeared inside the room, looked around, and found a large window.
It was big enough for me to pass through. The next second, I made my decision; I escaped through the window, landing on the backside of the building.
In order not to attract attention, I removed the mask and placed the overcoat in the system space. Then, I gracefully left the area through the backyard door.
A few minutes later,
I was walking on the footpath of the main street. Compared to before, the streets looked deserted. Not many people could be seen walking on the road. I removed my shield so that other wizards could sense my strength.
As the minutes passed, I continued to walk down the road, ignoring the restaurants and other busy shops. It didn’t take long for me to get closer to the city gate.
The guards there were conducting strict inspections. They were thoroughly checking both wandering wizards and influential wizards.
I stood quietly at a random spot and continued to observe their activities. Among them, I saw the same old man.
A quick gleam appeared in my eyes. I had already alerted Forbidden Wizard Remi twice. If I alerted him again, I doubted he would leave the city. What to do? I racked my brain.
Then, I saw a small commotion happening near the gate and began to overhear the conversation. A small group of wizards from the neutral factions was arguing with the guards.
“We have received guests from afar. Their identities are confidential. We cannot let them go through the inspection,” a middle-aged man wearing gold clothes said.
“It’s the city lord’s order to inspect everyone. We can’t disobey his order,” the old man from the official side said in a firm tone.
How could he forget the terror of the coercion released by the city lord? The guards back at the mansion had died that day. They didn’t want to be the next targets.
The middle-aged man was not willing to give up.
“Their identity is no less than that of the old city lord. Trust me, they have Forbidden Wizards in their organization as well. I hope you won’t offend them,” the middle-aged man revealed.
Hearing that, the faces of the old man and the city guards around him changed drastically. The old man fell silent.
The city guards standing beside him were considering their options as well. They knew the neutral faction maintained the balance in the city and had influence in other cities as well.
The old man gulped and agreed in the end, but he made it clear they were not to leak this matter. He warned the city guards around him as well. The middle-aged man dressed in gold cloth smiled and then left the place.
I overheard their entire conversation. I had been wondering how to leave the city without showing the ID of the Mage Union, but this opportunity came as a pure coincidence. I continued to wait in the same spot.
One hour later,
I saw the old man who was the head of the guards leave the place. A quick gleam appeared in my eyes; it was the right opportunity. I started walking towards the city gate.
I was dressed in a suit, and my appearance attracted their attention. This time, I stood behind the line of influential wizards.
One after another, the wizards were allowed to walk through the gate. My gaze fell on the wizards performing the inspections. One of them had been present during the conversation earlier.
Next, it was my turn. I ignored them and tried to walk through the gate. The faces of the guards changed drastically, especially when they failed to see through my strength. One of them stepped forward and blocked my path.
“Guest, show us your ID. We cannot let others leave without verification,” the guard asked.
Hearing that, I smiled and said, “Should I call that gold-clothed idiot back for you?”
The guard was stunned. Then, he recalled the earlier conversation. His gaze became respectful. He stepped forward and said, “So, you are Wizard Thomas. I hope you visit our city again.”
His voice reached the others and the public. They didn’t cause any problems, especially after knowing that the wizard wearing the suit was stronger than a Level-9 Wizard.
I nodded to the guard before walking out. I didn’t stop my footsteps. In the blink of an eye, I reached the main road. I found that old man Rock and the Flying Salamander were still there waiting for me.
I smiled and started walking towards them. I hadn’t expected to leave the city so directly without causing any problems.
