In the Gregor Mansion,

My heart was in turmoil. The system confirmed that the old city lord was dead. I had thought Forbidden Wizard Remi would leave, but I hadn’t expected the old city lord to come outside to confront him.

I didn’t know whether the old city lord was mad or if he simply didn’t know the identity of the Forbidden Wizard Remi. In the end, the old man was killed.

Remi didn’t leave the city; he continues to stay here.

A hint of apprehension appeared in my eyes. I’m wary of the space layers. The system was not warning me when someone used a space layer.

If I go outside, it’s possible for the Forbidden Wizard Remi to appear. Who knows? He might be keeping an eye on the underground prison.

[Ding! Warning!]

[A Forbidden Wizard’s mental power is scanning the area.]

The system’s voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my heart skipped a beat. I was just thinking about going outside, but I didn’t expect to get this warning.

Which means? The Forbidden Wizard Remi is keeping watch over the place. It’s not going to be easy to leave anytime soon.

I sighed in relief. I was so close to going outside. Then I turned my attention toward Manager Lara. She was unconscious.

I didn’t want to expose the Gregor Mansion. I’m going to wait here. I don’t think Forbidden Wizard Remi will continue to monitor the place all night.

Time goes by…

I continued to stay in the control room. I didn’t even go to see the others. The control room is off-limits to everyone else. They won’t dare enter without my order; if they do, the crimson curse will act upon them.

The next morning…

“System, check whether the area outside is safe or not,” I asked.

[Host, the area outside is safe and sound.]

The system’s voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, I sighed in relief.

Swoosh!

The next second, I appeared outside. The underground prison cell was damaged. No one was there. I asked the system to shield my presence. Then I shifted my body and appeared above the surface.

Swoosh!

The next second, I flew over the compound wall to land outside. My body crossed the huge walls like a fast shooting star. A couple of seconds later, I reached the nearest store.

Before anything could happen, I opened the door of a restaurant and went inside. There were a few customers inside. In a flash, I found an empty room and entered.

The customers and staff were confused. They didn’t know who this person was who dared to barge into their restaurant. The manager and staff tried to find the intruder.

Swoosh!

The next second, I appeared back inside the Gregor Mansion. Only then was I able to take deep breaths.

The staff opened the available rooms to look.

Gasp!

The city officials who were monitoring the mansion saw someone going past the compound walls. They gasped in surprise.

They didn’t know who the person was, but the officials didn’t dare ignore them. Since the person came out from the mansion, they could be a suspect. It could be the intruder from yesterday.

Swoosh!

One after another, the city officials went to the nearest restaurant. They saw the commotion inside. When the officials entered, they found the customers and staff searching for someone.

“What happened?” one of the officials asked.

The staff and the manager were dumbfounded. They didn’t expect the officials to come.

They recounted the events. The officials joined the search but found that no one was inside. Apart from the customers, there was no sign of the intruder.

Meanwhile, Forbidden Wizard Remi was awake, though his eyes were closed. Suddenly, his ears perked up.

He opened his eyes and left the area using the space layer. When he appeared, he was in front of the restaurant. Seeing the commotion happening inside, he was interested.

He quickly asked the people nearby. His current identity was unknown to them, but when he learned that someone was spotted escaping from the mansion grounds before entering this shop, Remi’s eyes flashed with an icy chill.

He immediately grabbed an official, the old man who had been asking questions earlier.

“What’s going on here? Tell me everything,” Remi demanded.

The old man was petrified. He felt a terror from this person that he had only felt when facing the old city lord.

The old man gulped and reiterated the story. Remi was surprised, but he didn’t find any flaws. His gaze swept over the people and their reactions. Everyone’s reaction seemed genuine.

He had no idea the target could have been here all this time. He still didn’t know if the intruder was the same person who rescued the Silver Tower Manager.

“Did anyone see this person coming alone or together with someone?” he asked.

“The person barged in alone. Then he went inside one of the rooms before disappearing,” the manager said. The customers who were eyewitnesses said the same thing.

Remi frowned. He had been facing problems ever since the intruder appeared last night. He had thought the intruder left with the Silver Tower Manager.

But if that were true, then the intruder should have escaped last night. Yet, people had seen him today.

“Don’t tell me something else is going on which I’m unaware of,” Remi thought.

But if the intruder was a stranger, then what about the Silver Tower Manager? How did she disappear from the cell? Remi shook his head.

He knew the Silver Tower Manager’s disappearance was related to the intruder. Since the intruder hadn’t left the city, he was going to find him and learn the truth.

The next second, Remi covered the whole shop with mental power, but the intruder was not inside.

He then spread his mental power to scan the whole city again. It was done fast and swiftly. He covered the city gate and different streets as well.

But he didn’t find any clues.
