Chapter 1738: Special trade route!

Chapter 1738: Special trade route!

From MC’s Perspective

A few hours later,

After crossing many small towns, we finally reached the big city. I told the Salamander to land on the ground; there was no need to show off in the city.

A few minutes later,

I started heading towards the main gate. The wandering wizards and the salamander would wait for me in an isolated place.

My goal was to collect news and the exact route to Dust City.

The Dark Territory was vast, and it was normal for wandering wizards not to have traveled to every location, especially since the Dark Territory includes forbidden places. I had even visited one myself.

Soon, I arrived in front of the main gate. I released a little bit of pressure, and the guards were shocked. They immediately allowed me to enter without checking my identity.

It was one of the privileges of Supreme-level wizards and above. More importantly, the guards were afraid for their lives.

Normally, Supreme-level wizards have bad tempers. It was possible these guards had met with misfortune before.

After walking inside, I quickly asked around and found out about the influential business stores.

I shifted my body, and in a couple of steps, I reached the end of the main road and arrived in front of a store.

Compared to other shops, this one had better infrastructure. Not only that, but I confirmed the presence of Supreme-level wizards inside.

I took a look before going in. The staff were young; they couldn’t sense my presence.

“Welcome, guest, to our Desert Store,” a female staff member greeted me.

I nodded to her. She looked confused. She was a Level-8 Wizard and quite strong herself, especially for this city, but she couldn’t see through this young man.

“Cough!”

An old man wearing a green robe made an entrance.

“Elder,” the female staff member said in a respectful tone.

The old man didn’t look at her. Instead, he was looking at me. I didn’t sense any hostile intentions from him. Still, I used the System’s power to check. The System found no fault with him.

“Guest, come with me,” the old man finally said.

Actually, the old man had sensed me earlier. He felt a sense of crisis, which was why he had hurried downstairs to greet me.

He walked inside. Seeing that the old man was sensible and didn’t try to pry into my details, I followed him to a private room.

We both sat down. A staff member came to serve tea and then left. Until then, neither of us spoke. I picked up the tea cup and immediately used the power of the System to check it.

It took a second. When the System said nothing was wrong with it, I started enjoying the tea.

On the other hand, the old man was shocked. He had seen many powerful wizards, and they would usually think twice before consuming anything. But the person in front of him was casual.

Only two things were possible: either the young man was incredibly strong, or he had a powerful magic artifact. In both cases, they couldn’t afford to offend him.

“Guest, do you need anything from our store?” he finally asked.

“I need information about a few famous cities in the Dark Territory,” I said straightforwardly.

The old man frowned. He found the matter troublesome because they didn’t deal in intelligence collection. Their business involved trading goods.

“Guest, I’m afraid you have come to the wrong place. We trade goods here,” he said in a solemn tone.

Hearing that, I didn’t react. I continued to sip my tea. I took a few seconds to reply.

“I just need basic information and trade routes to the city. You handle trading; of course you have specific routes to other cities,” I said.

The old man frowned further. Trade routes are secrets because the Dark Territory is a vast land filled with danger.

Most cities are independent, and there is no single power ruling the territory. It is a mixed place where good and evil wizards roam freely.

“I am going to Dust City for an important matter. If you give me your special route to the city, I will give you a Magic Fruit that can extend your lifespan,” I said directly.

“What?” The old man was dumbfounded.

This time, his guard was down. He couldn’t ignore such an offer.

He knew how valuable a life-extending fruit was. Such fruits are rare; only big forces can afford them, and even then, one needs high authority to obtain one.

He didn’t think the person in front of him was just some wandering wizard who had stumbled upon such a treasure. He was certain this person came from a major power and was here on a mission.

He stood up and said, “Alright, I’ll bring out the map. Then, I will personally draw the route for you.”

After the old man left, I finally relaxed my eyebrows. I knew the Magic Towers had their own connections in the Dark Territory.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this small store had a powerful backer. I collected my thoughts and waited.

I wasn’t worried that he would betray me. The System sensed no malice.

A life-extending fruit was a rare treasure that the old man might never encounter again in his life. I was sure he would return with the information.

Shortly afterward, the old man returned with a large scroll in his hand.

“It’s a copy of the Dark Territory map. It doesn’t have much information, but I will draw the trade route to Dust City.”

“Dust City is located in the middle of the territory. It is an important city for our business. If you use our trade route, you will reach the city in a few days,” the old man said with a smile.

Hearing that I nodded to him. It was enough to get details about the Dust City. When it comes to the powerhouse of the Dust City. I will find out about them later.
