Chapter 1494: Part 2: Tristan Family

Tristan Family:

I was waiting outside. Then I saw the guard coming back. Upon seeing me he told me the truth. Hearing that the family head wants to see me. I was surprised.

For a second, I became hesitant. Then I realised why anyone would attack the travellers, knowing the unknown consequences could hurt them.

So I decided to take a risk and started following the guard to enter the mansion. The Tristan Family owns many buildings. But the white building in front of me was the main mansion. It was huge.

I saw staff and maids going about their business. Then the guard brought me to the mansion. I walked inside and met with another staff member.

The guard then turned around to leave.

“Master is waiting for you,” the old man said.

Hearing that, I nodded to him before following him to the main hall. Then I saw a middle-aged man sitting in the main chair. He was dressed in luxurious clothes.

Upon seeing me he asked the staff to leave. The old man left the hall. There is no other person here.

“Guest, you can sit,” John said.

Hearing that, I sat on the sofa near me. Then I looked at him.

“My name is John Tristan. I’m the current Head of the Tristan Family. I heard you need a transport service,” John said with a smile.

Hearing that I was surprised inside. This person seems to be honest. The system didn’t warn me either. So he didn’t have any hidden intentions.

I said, “My destination is WillowPeak City. This was the first city where I heard about the transport service after coming to the Dark Territory.”

Hearing that John’s expression changes. He was right. The masked man has a background. He was not afraid of revealing his destination.

What more? He heard that his destination was WillowPeak City.

“The City of Fate Wizard,” John utters.

Hearing that I nodded to him.

“I can help you reach Willow Peak City. But there is one condition,” John said in a serious tone.

Hearing that I was dumbfounded. I never expected the conversation to go easily.

“What is the condition?” I asked.

“My son Bran Tristan is going to WillowPeak City tonight. I can see you with him. After reaching Willow Peak City, you can leave,” John said.

A hint of seriousness appeared in my eyes.

I looked into his eyes and asked, “What’s the strength of the enemies?”

This time John was surprised. He didn’t expect the masked man to see through the number of enemies. If it were one enemy, there would be no need to ask for help from an outsider.

John said, “All the enemies are under the Supreme level. No Supreme Wizard and above will target you guys. Once my son reaches our Peak City, we will take care of him.”

I’m surprised inside. If no supreme Wizard and above are targeting, then this person or his son’s teacher has a strong background.

“Alright, I’ll take care of the enemies until we reach WillowPeak City,” I said to John.

“Ha…Ha…Ha…, good,” John let out a hearty laugh.

“You can stay in our guest room. You can leave the city together with my son tonight,” John said.

“Okay,” I replied.

Then John summoned the staff and told them to show the guest room.

I stood up and followed the staff towards the guest room. While walking, I asked about the young master. The staff said that he was out of the city right now.

He will come in the evening so that he can then depart for WillowPeak City at night. The guest house was located behind the mansion.

The staff brought me to the small building. He used the key to open the door. Then we walked inside. I saw the room was simple with a small living room and a balcony. There is a single bedroom and a bathroom.

The staff then gave me the key and left. I stayed in the room and started using the system probe function. Fortunately, there was nothing suspicious hidden inside the room.

I closed the main door and went to the bedroom to take a rest. Then I lay down on the bed and began to wonder. I had thought it would take a few more days to reach Willow Peak City.

But fortunately, I got the opportunity here to shorten the time period.

Meanwhile,

John spoke to his son. That he had found a protector for him. Hearing that Bran was surprised. It’s because of the lack of protection that he was postponing travel.

Now that he has the protector, he can leave the city tonight. John had arranged a different protector before. But he thinks the masked man was best.

Because the previous protector demanded huge money. More importantly, he had the fear of Supreme Wizards.

So the masked man was the best option.

Time passed,

When it was nighttime. The staff came again to bring me to the mansion. I locked the door and gave the key to him. The staff then led me to a different place.

“Where are we going?” I asked him.

“Everyone is waiting for you at the transport service area,” The staff said.

Hearing that I frowned. The Head of the family clearly told me to meet at his place at night. At that time his son would come as well. But the staff is taking me somewhere.

I felt troubled. I saw the staff again. He is an old man. But he is not showing any expression at all. I asked the system to keep an eye on the Oldman.

[Ding! Warning]

[Subtle killing intent was detected]

A mechanical voice sounded in my mind.

Hearing that my heart skips a beat. So I was right. There is something wrong with the staff. The family head told me that there are enemies who want to kill his son.

Looks like he had learned that I was appointed as the protector. The Old man’s strength was Level-8. He was not a threat to me.
