Right at that moment, a trusted subordinate hurried over and whispered, "Young Master, Old Man Corvin at the east end of the village is spreading news of your good deeds everywhere again, but looking at his demeanor, he’s clearly mocking us."

Noel’s expression drastically changed, a surge of fury rushed straight to his head, "Mocking? How dare he, go, take me to see."

At the east end of the village, Old Man Corvin sat under the eaves of his dilapidated house, repairing a worn-out fishing net while chatting with a few neighbors, their topic naturally revolved around Noel’s transformation, but their words always carried suspicion and reservation.

Noel strode over with a few subordinates, the villagers shut their mouths, looking at him with nervous expressions.

Old Man Corvin looked up and saw Noel marching over menacingly with his entourage, a barely noticeable sneer hooked the corners of his mouth.

"Yo, isn’t this our Young Master Noel? What, do you have the leisure to come observe the people’s conditions again today?" His voice was neither high nor low, just loud enough for everyone around to hear.

Noel’s face turned even gloomier, he took a few steps forward and glared at Old Man Corvin, "What is the meaning of this? I, Noel, am sincerely repenting, yet you’re here mocking and ridiculing me."

Old Man Corvin put down the fishing net, stood up, and looked straight into Noel’s eyes, his voice carried disdain, "Young Master Noel, let’s not beat around the bush, we’ve seen your actions these past few days, but you know exactly what you’re thinking in your heart, a soft persimmon suddenly turning hard is just a change of skin, the flavor inside is still the same."

The neighboring villagers cast complex glances, some sympathetic, others disdainful.

Noel felt a stab of pain from these words and was utterly enraged, "You, what right do you have to say that? I have already decided to become a better person, why must you still cling to the past?"

Old Man Corvin shook his head and sighed, "Young Master Noel, people’s hearts don’t turn cold in a single day, nor can they be warmed back up in a single day, we see what you’ve done, but if you truly want to be forgiven, you still need time, and more importantly, continuous effort."

"If your efforts today are nothing but fake, wouldn’t we commoners just end up repeating the same mistakes?"

Noel’s fists clenched and unclenched, unclenched and clenched again, ultimately dropping down powerlessly, he realized he might indeed have been too impatient, wanting to change everyone’s view of him overnight was clearly impossible.

"Fine, I see you are intentionally smearing my Gavel family," Noel suddenly turned hostile, he snatched the fishing net from Old Man Corvin’s hands and slammed it fiercely onto the ground.

"Do you think I’d really let you off so easily? Let me tell you, there has never been anything I, Noel, wanted but couldn’t get."

This genuinely terrified Old Man Corvin, the other villagers were deeply shocked too, they backed away one after another, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.

An unprecedented thrill surged in Noel’s heart, as if he had returned to the era where he could act as tyrannically as he pleased, he ordered his subordinates to surround the villagers, while he himself approached Old Man Corvin step by step.

"Today, I’ll show you what the true demeanor of the Gavel family is," Noel raised his hand and delivered a heavy punch directly to Old Man Corvin’s face, caught off guard, Old Man Corvin’s blood splattered instantly as he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

"Stop!" In the crowd, a young villager mustered the courage to shout, but he was quickly subdued by the subordinates.

"Who else wants to step forward?" Noel looked around, eyes brimming with madness, "Remember this, from today onward, everything in this village is decided by me."

The villagers’ faces turned ashen, they never expected Noel to revert to his brutal self so quickly.

"We can’t just sit here and wait for death!" A young villager suddenly shouted, he broke free from the subordinates’ restraint, picked up a rock, and threw it at Noel.

This action ignited the flames of fury in the villagers’ hearts, they followed suit one after another, using all sorts of tools to counterattack against Noel and his men, although the disparity in strength was massive, their eyes were filled with defiance and determination.

"Hmph, a bunch of ants actually dare to make an enemy of my Gavel family?" Noel sneered.

His cold sneer sounded exceptionally piercing in the autumn wind, it was an arrogance and disdain from the depths of his soul, as if the entire world trembled beneath his feet, his gaze turned icy, like sharp ice blades in winter piercing into people’s hearts, at his command, the subordinates spread out and lunged like hungry wolves at the resisting villagers, in an instant, the east end of the village descended into unprecedented chaos and panic.

"Beat them, beat them ruthlessly, let these fools who don’t know the immensity of heaven and earth know who the true master here is," Noel’s voice was exceptionally clear amidst the chaos, carrying unquestionable authority and ruthlessness, every word was like a heavy hammer striking everyone’s heart.

Although the villagers were furious and defiant, their resistance appeared feeble against the well-trained subordinates, wooden sticks and rocks flew through the air, but most were nimbly dodged or blocked, meanwhile, villagers kept falling, the sounds of wailing and crying intertwined, painting a tragic scene.

Old Man Corvin lay in a pool of blood, his face pale as paper, his eyes held both indignation and despair.

He never could have imagined his life would end up this way, nor did he expect Noel to so easily abandon his change and revert to his brutal self.

"Young Master Noel, doing this, are you not afraid of heavenly retribution?" an elderly villager struggled to stand, shouting with all his might.

Although his voice was weak, it was filled with unyielding defiance and anger.

"Heavenly retribution? Hahaha..." Noel seemed to have heard the funniest joke in the world, he threw his head back and laughed loudly, his laughter full of madness and disdain.

"In this world, I am heaven, I am retribution, whoever dares to defy me, I will let them know what true despair is!"

Saying this, Young Master Noel walked step by step toward that elderly villager, his eyes flashing with a cold, ruthless light.
