  1. Different Treatment

Lin Ye's eyes snapped open, and he was greeted by a dim ceiling.

'Where is this?'

Lin Ye sat up and looked around. He was sitting on a soft, large bed. The room was very dark, but he could vaguely make out the lavish decorations.

He pulled open the curtains, and dazzling sunlight flooded the room. Outside the window was an open-air balcony, and beyond the balcony stretched an endless pitch-black sea.

Lin Ye was wearing a clean, comfortable set of pajamas, and the Sacrificial Night gown was hanging on the coat rack by the door.

On the dining table on the balcony, some food was laid out, still steaming, and it looked absolutely delicious.

Lin Ye opened the sliding door and stepped onto the balcony. He didn't go for the food. Instead, he scanned the cruise ship. He needed to understand the current situation and find Little Guardian and Scarlatti.

This room was at the very top of the cruise ship. Standing on the balcony, he could look down over a vast area. Very quickly, Lin Ye spotted two figures on the Deck who looked to be in terrible shape.

One of the figures spotted Lin Ye too and waved at him.

That gesture looked incredibly weak.

Lin Ye returned to the bedroom and put on the Sacrificial Night gown, then quickly left the room and took the elevator to the Deck.

The elevator was fast, crossing hundreds of meters in just a few dozen seconds. Lin Ye ran onto the Deck and found Little Guardian and Scarlatti still squirming on the Deck.

"You just woke up?"

Scarlatti looked at the warm-looking pajamas Lin Ye was wearing underneath, and her words were filled with resentment.

"I don't know what happened either. I passed out, and when I woke up, I was already inside this cruise ship."

Lin Ye walked over to the two of them and checked their condition.

Perhaps because of this cruise ship, they showed no obvious signs of frostbite.

"I thought we were done for this time."

Scarlatti barely managed to crawl up. Her condition was terrible, and she could only manage simple movements.

"I'll take you upstairs to rest for a bit. It's better up there than here."

The icy sea breeze blew past as Lin Ye led the two of them back to the top-floor room via the elevator.

"...The difference is way too huge, isn't it?"

Scarlatti looked at the luxurious bedroom before her, a full hundred square meters, and then thought of the sea-view Deck below, and she felt a wave of malice emanating from the cruise ship.

"You two can go take a hot shower. There's some food on the dining table over there. I think it should be safe to eat. After all, if the owner of this cruise ship wanted to do something to us, they wouldn't need to use this method."

Until now, Lin Ye had never encountered the owner of this cruise ship.

"We'll go shower first. You don't need to wait for us."

Scarlatti led Little Guardian into the bathroom.

Lin Ye stood on the balcony, scanning the cruise ship. He still hadn't figured out what was going on with this cruise ship.

He didn't believe this Dream World would have such a safe place. Perhaps it was because of that fortune cookie that they could move around safely on this cruise ship.

But the fortune cookie could only give him luck for a limited time, and once that time ended, they might need to start thinking about how to escape this cruise ship.

"...I wonder how much time is left."

Lin Ye picked up a piece of Bread from the dining table and took a bite. The soft bread was stuffed full of refreshing sweet cream, and it tasted excellent.

After finishing the Bread, Lin Ye wrapped up the other food, packed a few bottles of drinks from the room, and grabbed some useful items.

"Phew, feels like I'm alive again."

Scarlatti walked out of the bathroom. She had changed into a set of pajamas, and her discarded clothes were drying inside.

"Eat these. We'd better leave this place as soon as possible."

Lin Ye suddenly had a bad premonition.

"What's going on?"

Scarlatti stuffed some high-calorie food into her mouth.

"Earlier I ate a fortune cookie. That cookie might be about to expire now."

That ominous feeling grew clearer and clearer. This was probably the hint given by that fortune cookie.

"We'll go gather some supplies. You go put a Lifeboat into the sea."

Scarlatti didn't waste words. She went straight into the bathroom, changed into her still slightly damp clothes, and began gathering essential supplies.

Lin Ye quickly ran toward the elevator, but as he approached, he noticed that the elevator was ascending.

When he had come up earlier, the elevator had stayed parked on the top floor and hadn't gone down.

"What do we do? Should we take the stairs?"

Scarlatti and Little Guardian each came over carrying a backpack. They had only gathered a small amount of supplies, because those rooms were not right.

While they had been gathering supplies, someone had been using the equipment in the rooms.

And they had vaguely heard voices talking, though they couldn't make out the content of the conversation, nor could they see who was talking.

"No, that would be too slow. We can only take the elevator down."

Lin Ye stared at the constantly changing numbers at the top of the elevator and drew the dining knife from his pocket.

Scarlatti pulled out her pistol. In that bone-chilling seawater, she had abandoned almost all her supplies, keeping only two inhibitors and a pistol fully loaded with bullets.

She had stored these things in a waterproof bag, so they could still be used normally.

The elevator reached the top floor. The doors opened, and there was no one inside.

But Lin Ye sensed that something had passed by his side, and had even glanced this way.

The three of them entered the elevator, and Lin Ye pressed the button for the first floor.

The elevator doors closed automatically, and Lin Ye saw four figures reflected on the metal inner wall of the elevator doors.

Besides the three of them, there was also a man dressed in attendant's clothing standing in the elevator. He was looking at the backpacks behind Scarlatti and Little Guardian with a strange expression.

"They're my friends. I asked them to help bring some things down for me."

Lin Ye turned his head to look at the spot where the attendant was standing and spoke up.

The attendant gave a slight bow and lowered his right hand, which had been reaching toward the alarm button.

"I want to go down quickly, so let's not stop on any other floors."

Lin Ye said to the attendant, whose outline was gradually becoming more defined.

"Understood. I'll take you down first."

A faint voice sounded in the elevator.

"Thank you."

That ominous feeling grew stronger and stronger, but Lin Ye's expression didn't change in the slightest.

"It's what I should do."

The attendant's voice became clearer and clearer.

The elevator stopped at the Deck on the first floor. Lin Ye didn't rush to leave. Instead, he turned to the attendant and asked:

"If I want to leave this cruise ship, what should I do?"

"Then you would first need to speak with the captain, or leave by taking a Lifeboat at the edge of the cruise ship."

The attendant looked at Lin Ye with a somewhat strange expression.

"I understand. Thank you."

Lin Ye left the elevator and quickly walked toward the edge of the cruise ship.

He had seen the locations of the Lifeboats from the balcony, so he knew where the nearest Lifeboat to them was.

Many blurry silhouettes appeared on the Deck. They skirted around those Silhouettes and arrived beside the railing. The Lifeboat was right below the railing.
