Chapter 833: The Miraculous Trader
- The Miraculous Trader
"...You're right, this place really is awe-inspiring."
Lin Ye suppressed the thought crossing his mind. He wasn't so broke that he needed to resort to robbery.
"Where should we go first? I can show you around."
Scarlatti was very familiar with this place.
"The Miracle Bar."
Lin Ye planned to go meet that fellow adventurer of the Middleman first.
"Follow me."
Scarlatti pulled open a door out of thin air, and behind it was another street, with a bar that looked quite unassuming sitting by the roadside.
Stepping through the door, Lin Ye walked up to the bar's entrance. The door was wide open, and the inside was pitch black, revealing nothing at all.
"This is the most popular spot in Miracle City, home to the city's most beloved drink."Scarlatti walked ahead and was the first to step into the Miracle Bar.
Lin Ye followed behind her, passing through the bar's entrance.
The interior of the bar wasn't as spacious as Lin Ye had imagined, but it wasn't cramped either. All the patrons maintained a comfortable sense of distance from one another.
The entrance connected to a spacious hall, with a cocktail bar lining one side and corridors leading deeper into the establishment opposite the entryway.
Lin Ye took a few steps forward and realized this wasn't a fixed space. Whenever he moved in a certain direction, that space would stretch endlessly forward, revealing new scenes.
At the center of the hall was a dance floor, where a singer with a sultry figure and revealing outfit was crooning a mesmerizing tune with a hypnotic voice.
Some patrons were swaying their bodies on the dance floor, everyone easily finding a suitable partner.
"Want to grab a drink? My treat."
Scarlatti walked straight to the counter, and without her even saying a word, the bartender had already mixed a drink shimmering with vivid colors.
"I don't drink alcohol. Give me an iced beverage, please."
Lin Ye sat down by the counter, scanning the bottled liquids neatly arranged on the shelves behind it.
Those weren't your ordinary spirits. They were bottles of expensive spiritual energy materials, each one worth a fortune.
"Give this gentleman a Miracle, and put it on my tab."
A young man sitting not far away spoke up.
"You're the Miraculous Trader? Then you should know why I'm looking for you."
Lin Ye turned to look at the young man. He was dressed in an ornate, dark formal suit and carried a distinctive aura about him.
"I can introduce you to a few jobs, but I only deal in miracles here, and these jobs might be somewhat challenging."
The Miraculous Trader wasted no time, directly transmitting a spiritual imprint to Lin Ye.
"I like challenging jobs, as long as the pay is generous enough."
Lin Ye received those spiritual imprints. They contained commission information, somewhat like a quest board in a game.
"Miracles are priceless. We can only charge a reasonable fee."
The Miraculous Trader replied with a smile.
"You're not dumping all your troublesome commissions on me, are you?"
Lin Ye quickly finished reviewing all the commission information. The difficulty levels were all fairly high, though some of them weren't particularly hard for him.
"That's correct. And if you can complete enough commissions, I'll prepare a valuable gift of thanks for you."
The Miraculous Trader answered calmly.
"Fine."
Lin Ye didn't turn down the commissions. He had free time to spare anyway, so he could knock out all the simple ones and earn some extra pocket money on the side.
"Your Miracle, sir."
The bartender placed a colorful drink in front of Lin Ye.
"So this is a Miracle?"
Lin Ye picked up the glass and downed the liquid in one gulp.
"Are you alright?"
Scarlatti had assumed Lin Ye would savor the taste of the Miracle bit by bit.
The Miracle was the most expensive drink here. It was blended from many precious materials, and ordinary patrons didn't even have the qualification to buy it, nor could they withstand this beverage.
After all, in this place, precious and dangerous often meant the exact same thing.
"I'm fine. This really is the taste of a miracle."
Lin Ye narrowed his eyes, savoring those fleeting sensory thrills. Even for someone like him, this was an extremely rare experience.
The Miracle contained many ingredients Lin Ye had never encountered before. Of course, it also contained ones he had, like the Concentrated Color he'd just obtained that morning.
"It's hard to imagine that someone of your caliber is only a sixth-tier spiritual energy user."
The Miraculous Trader couldn't help but marvel.
This Miracle wasn't some dangerous substance. It was a mixed liquid that temporarily affected the mind. After drinking it, the consumer would experience many mental stimuli they'd never felt before. Ordinary patrons could only sip it bit by bit, savoring the psychological effects. Not many could down it in one go without being affected.
"This Miracle can't be cheap, right?"
Just counting the material costs alone was already pricey. Add in the exquisite mixing technique, and this drink could fetch an astronomical price.
"It only costs one hundred Trade points. But not everyone is qualified to purchase it."
The Miraculous Trader answered calmly.
What was expensive wasn't the price, but the qualification to buy.
"Then that really is cheap."
After finishing the Miracle, Lin Ye felt his mental energy had become slightly more refined. It was an overall improvement, though it probably only worked on the first drink.
"I was going to treat you to one too, but someone beat me to it."
Scarlatti's cheeks were faintly flushed, her expression completely relaxed.
"My apologies then. I won't disturb you two any further."
The Miraculous Trader picked up his glass and rose from the counter.
"I'm going to complete some commissions. Coming along?"
Lin Ye had already contacted his first client through the commission information.
"Of course, if I'm not being a bother."
Scarlatti finished the colorful liquid in her glass and left the counter together with Lin Ye.
Lin Ye headed toward the corridor leading deeper into the bar, where his client was already waiting for him.
There was no need to search for the location. Lin Ye simply opened a random door and stepped into the client's private room.
Though it was called a private room, it actually contained a vast open space where the sky was visible. Directly opposite the doorway stood an ancient wooden courtyard residence.
A man clad in metal armor sat on the veranda inside the courtyard, looking up at Lin Ye.
"So you're the one who accepted my commission?"
"That's right. I can handle your problem."
Lin Ye sat down across from the man, meeting his gaze over the table.
"This isn't some simple injury, and I'm not asking you to remove what's inside my body. I'm asking you to repair it."
Even with the Miraculous Trader as the middleman, the man still had doubts that Lin Ye could heal his body.
After all, Lin Ye looked like just a mid-level spiritual energy user.
If this weren't the Miracle Bar, he'd have thought Lin Ye had walked into the wrong room.
"Already healed. How would you like to pay the reward?"
Lin Ye poured himself and Scarlatti a cup of tea.
"Huh? When did you...!"
The man was clearly startled. He hadn't noticed at all what Lin Ye had just done to him.
