Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 481 - 223: Swarm Siege
"How can you still be thinking about Void Crystals when you know this place was attacked by Void Creatures?"
Guli Geli stared at Li Ziyu, speechless. She realized her master truly knew nothing. ’How on earth did he live before this? He’s missing so much common sense.’
Left with no choice, she explained, "Master, Void Creatures will not spare anything related to Void Energy. This Tribe has already been overrun by them; it’s impossible to find any Void Crystals here."
’I see. A wasted trip.’
Li Ziyu felt rather helpless. He could only order the Undead back to the Undead Fortress and prepare to set out again.
"Where to now?" Li Ziyu asked Guli Geli. He hadn’t expected the Tribe to be destroyed by Void Creatures. This trip had been a complete waste, but they still needed to pick a direction.
Guli Geli shook her head, a look of bewilderment on her face. All she knew was that they should run, and run far, to avoid any encounters with Void Creatures. As for where to go? How would she know? The safest bet was to go back the way they came.
Seeing she had no suggestions, Li Ziyu thought for a moment, pulled out a bone, tossed it casually, and pointed in the direction it indicated. "That way, then!"
’Master, you’re being far too reckless.’
Guli Geli’s lip twitched as the thought crossed her mind, but she kept quiet. She knew her place. Li Ziyu might seem amicable, but a Soul Contract truly bound them. It was best not to displease him.
With the direction chosen, the Undead Fortress set out once more, lumbering in the direction Li Ziyu had indicated.
After traveling aimlessly for a long time, a message suddenly arrived from the Evil Spirit Wanderers scouting ahead.
"Life signs detected! Living beings are fighting ahead!"
Li Ziyu, who had been resting in the main tower, ordered a halt and immediately rushed to the roof. Gazing into the distance, he could faintly make out a few black specks.
It was too far to see clearly. Li Ziyu turned, headed back downstairs, and rushed toward the Great Tomb.
A hurried figure dashed past. The Leopard Woman glanced quizzically at Li Ziyu’s retreating back, and then, as if realizing something, took off after him on her long legs. They arrived at the Great Tomb one after the other.
Li Ziyu ignored Guli Geli, who was clearly just trying to watch the show. He opened the portal himself and rushed into the Great Tomb. By the time Guli Geli followed him in, he was nowhere to be seen.
In one of the rooms, Li Ziyu connected to the Gemstone at the pinnacle of the Great Tomb and used it to peer into the distance.
What he saw left Li Ziyu stunned, completely incredulous.
’What is going on?!’
Far in the distance, a fierce battle was unfolding. Hundreds of Void Beetles of all shapes and sizes were relentlessly charging... a Human?
That’s right, a Human. No matter how he looked at it, the figure was Human. At most, he was a little taller and a bit more powerfully built, but he was unmistakably Human.
The Human fighting the Void Beetles had his hair in a braid, stood over 1.9 meters tall, and had a body of rippling muscle. He was bare-chested and wore a pair of Beast Hide trousers. In every way, he looked just like a member of any other Tribe.
Li Ziyu didn’t know exactly how powerful Void Creatures were. He’d never experienced a Void Beast Tide or a Void Insect Tide. But he had seen a Paddle-shaped Void Beetle, and he knew firsthand how strong that thing was—an existence on par with Black Knights and Skeleton Knights.
And what were Black Knights and Skeleton Knights? While not the absolute top-tier troops of the Undead Race, they were its core forces. Their combat power was not to be underestimated, which only served to highlight the strength of the Void Beetles.
And now, what he was witnessing was the equivalent of hundreds of Black Knights and Skeleton Knights besieging a single Human!
Yet even surrounded by Void Beetles, the Human showed no fear. Not only was he not at a disadvantage, but he seemed to grow stronger with every passing moment.
Unlike what the Leopard Woman Guli Geli had said, this Human wasn’t exploiting the Void Beetles’ weaknesses. He was killing them with sheer, unadulterated Power.
The Human wielded a strangely shaped War Axe. His movements were wide and sweeping, utterly dominating the space around him. Any Void Beetle that drew near was instantly dismembered, cleaved in two as blood sprayed everywhere.
Li Ziyu could even see the expression on the Human’s face—a mixture of rage, contempt, fury, excitement, and joy. It was as if he were savoring the battlefield, reveling in the pleasure of the slaughter.
This was what astonished Li Ziyu the most. If the Human had been using Magic, or channeling the power of an Ancestor, or something similar, Li Ziyu wouldn’t have been nearly as surprised. But this man was using nothing—just his own Power—and fighting the Void Beetles to a standstill.
No, ’standstill’ wasn’t the right word. He was clearly dominating. Even now, the Human showed no signs of fatigue, and not a single Void Beetle had managed to get near him without being killed.
Carcasses of Void Beetles were already piling up around the man. The surviving ones that surrounded him now hesitated, faltering. They stopped their advance, seemingly terrified by the man’s savage prowess.
The man scanned his surroundings and took a couple of deep breaths. He suddenly raised his axe, pointed it at the surrounding beetles, and shouted something. Judging by his savage expression and the movement of his mouth, Li Ziyu could tell he was roaring. As for what he was saying, Li Ziyu couldn’t hear. He was simply too far away; the Gemstone atop the Great Tomb could only transmit images, not sound.
