The Void Land might look beautiful, with its birdsong and fragrant flowers, but in reality, threats lurked everywhere. With the protection of a Tribe, it wasn’t a huge problem. You could even put up a fight against Void Creatures. But for someone all alone, survival was just too difficult.

Guli Geli remembered her kinsmen telling her when she was a child that this was not their homeland. They said that one day, they would have to leave and return to the land where they once lived—the land of their Ancestors. Only there would they truly be safe.

All these years, besides struggling to survive, Guli Geli had also been searching for a way to leave.

“You know how to leave this place?” Li Ziyu immediately asked, having understood the implication of her words.

“Yes, I do. There are two ways to leave this place,” Guli Geli said with a nod.

“What are they?” Li Ziyu pressed.

“One way is to find something called a Spatial Rift and leave through it,” Guli Geli explained. “But this method is very dangerous. It’s easy to die, and once you leave, it’s almost impossible to return.”

Li Ziyu nodded. ‘A Spatial Rift.’ That method of leaving was the same way he’d arrived. It would likely come down to luck. Never mind how difficult it was to find a Spatial Rift; to reach the Otherworld through one, you’d have to bet on not being flung into the Void or caught in a void storm.

It was indeed very dangerous.

“And the other method?” Li Ziyu asked.

“They say there’s something in this land called a Void Crystal. Leaving with a Void Crystal is very safe, and you can even come back,” Guli Geli told Li Ziyu without any hesitation.

“Haven’t you tried looking for a Void Crystal, then?” Li Ziyu asked, confused.

“I’ve looked, but I can’t find them. I don’t even know where Void Crystals come from—if you dig them out of the ground or get them from some monster. But I do know that many of the Great Tribes possess Void Crystals,” Guli Geli said with a sigh of resignation.

All her information was just hearsay. She’d never even seen a Void Crystal, let alone found one, so she had no idea what they looked like. All she knew was that some Tribes had them, and they were held by the powerful, who treasured them immensely.

‘But just because Guli Geli can’t find one doesn’t mean I can’t,’ Li Ziyu thought. ‘I have my system. It can identify items. As long as I see one, I’ll know if it’s a Void Crystal.’

‘And if I really can’t find one, that’s fine too. Can’t I just steal it?’

‘Stealing…’ The thought made Li Ziyu pause. ‘I feel like I’m forgetting something… Ah, whatever. It’s probably not important.’ (Meanwhile, three Apes with completely empty stomachs were weeping silently…)

At that moment, an Undead walked over carrying a tray and set it down beside Li Ziyu. It was covered with a layer of thinly sliced meat.

After long practice, the Undead’s knife skills had improved considerably. The meat was sliced with great proficiency, even a little thinner than the lamb rolls used for hot pot in his previous life. It was perfect for grilling on the Stone Slab.

Li Ziyu picked up his chopsticks, chose a few of the fattier slices, and arranged them neatly on the Stone Slab. The moment the thin slices touched the heated slab, they let out a sharp SIZZLE. Fat rendered from the meat, and a rich, savory aroma filled the air.

GULP.

Sitting across from him, Guli Geli swallowed hard. Her pink tongue darted out to lick her lips, her gaze fixed on the slices of meat that were curling slightly as they cooked. She looked like she was about to lose control.

Li Ziyu, however, was in no rush. They weren’t quite ready yet. Besides, these first few slices were mainly to render fat. After flipping them a few times, he sprinkled on some seasoning. A puff of white smoke rose, and the aroma grew even more tempting.

He glanced up at Guli Geli. Her throat was working constantly, and her lips glistened. ‘Good grief,’ he thought, ‘she’s about to drool!’

Shaking his head in amusement, he picked up a slightly charred slice from the Stone Slab and placed it on the plate in front of Guli Geli. “Go on, eat.”

“Uh… Master should eat first.” Just as Guli Geli was about to take a bite, she seemed to remember something. She picked up her plate and offered it to Li Ziyu, though it was clearly a struggle.

“Haha! Go on and eat. There’s plenty more meat.” Li Ziyu laughed heartily at her expression—desperately wanting to eat yet trying so hard to resist. As he spoke, he casually placed several more slices onto the Stone Slab.
