Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 464 217: Guli Geli 2
Time passed, and the sun in the Void Land began to dim. It wasn't setting, but rather fading, like a candle flickering out after burning to its end.
Unlike the outside world, the Void Land had no moon. Instead, it was home to countless glowing plants and insects. As night fell, the plants bathed the ground in a soft light, while insects resembling fireflies emerged from the earth and took to the sky, twinkling like a sea of stars.
Even without a moon, the night was magnificent.
Guli Geli, who was fast asleep, twitched slightly. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes. She had slept so long that she was still groggy, unsure of where she was. She stretched lazily, then turned her head and found herself staring into a pair of eyes.
Guli Geli was instantly wide awake. Her pupils constricted as she shot to her feet, landing several feet away. Her back arched, muscles tensed, and sharp claws sprang from her fingertips as she stared intently at the Human before her.
"Still groggy?" Li Ziyu asked calmly, watching the wary Guli Geli without moving a muscle.
It wasn't that he didn't want to move; he couldn't. Guli Geli had been using his leg as a pillow, and now it wasn't just numb—it was completely dead. He couldn't feel a thing.
Still, Li Ziyu wasn't worried about her attacking. Thanks to the Soul Contract they had signed, she would be punished for even thinking about harming him, let alone actually doing it. From the looks of it, Guli Geli had no intention of attacking; she was simply on the defensive. Her aggressive posture was just a subconscious reaction.
Hearing Li Ziyu's voice and getting a clear look at his face, Guli Geli quickly came to her senses. Her mind cleared, and her pupils, no longer constricted in alarm, returned to normal.
Her sharp claws retracted back into her fingers, and she relaxed her aggressive stance. Guli Geli scrambled up and then crouched on the floor, her face beet red with embarrassment. She bit her lip. "I-I'm sorry."
Li Ziyu gave a dismissive wave. "Sleep well?" he asked with a smile.
His words made Guli Geli's face flush even redder. She nodded and let out a soft "mm-hmm."
She couldn't remember the last time she had slept so soundly. It had been so long that she'd woken up completely disoriented and had almost attacked... 'Master.'
Although Li Ziyu had welcomed Guli Geli into his "big family," the contract they had signed was, in fact, a Slave Contract. It was the most secure type of pact, after all. This meant Guli Geli was supposed to call Li Ziyu "Master," putting her in the same position as the two Cat Girls, Meng Ni and Mengmeng.
RUMBLE~~~
An awkward rumbling sound echoed from Guli Geli's flat stomach. She flinched, and the blush that had just faded crept back onto her cheeks. She darted her eyes to the side, not daring to look at Li Ziyu.
Li Ziyu rubbed his own stomach. "Hungry?" he asked, looking at Guli Geli.
Guli Geli turned her head away and nodded shyly, letting out a small "mm."
She wasn't the only one; Li Ziyu was hungry too. With Guli Geli sleeping on his leg, he hadn't been able to get anything to eat, and his own stomach was empty.
"Alright then, let's eat," Li Ziyu said with a wide grin.
"L-Let me help you," Guli Geli said quickly, having already noticed that something was off with Li Ziyu. The memory of how she had woken up flashed in her mind.
"No need. Here we go!" Li Ziyu said, waving a hand and snapping his fingers.
Guli Geli's vision blurred for a moment. When it cleared, her pupils constricted once more. They were no longer in the previous room, but had been transported to an entirely different one.
This room had no dais, no throne. In the center was a fire pit built from bone, with several thin Stone Slabs set over it. A few tables stood off to the side.
Li Ziyu staggered to his feet, and Guli Geli rushed over to support him. He slowly began to move his legs. The moment he moved the limbs that had been completely numb, an intense pins-and-needles sensation shot through them, making him wince. He walked around for a moment until the feeling subsided and he felt normal again.
He nodded to Guli Geli to stand aside, then snapped his fingers again.
To Guli Geli's astonishment, troops of Skeleton Undead filed into the room. Some carried dry firewood, while others held trays laden with various meats, berries, fruits, vegetables, and an assortment of seasonings collected from the Wasteland.
The Undead skillfully started a fire in the pit and placed the Stone Slabs over the flames to heat up. Some began to chop meat while others prepared skewers. The entire room instantly buzzed with activity, transforming into a large kitchen.
Guli Geli watched everything unfold, bewildered. She stood frozen, feeling completely useless. All the Skeletons had a job to do; only she was standing there like a fool. She looked timidly at Li Ziyu. "Should I help them? Is there anything I can do?"
"They can handle it. You don't need to help. Come and sit down," Li Ziyu said, walking over to the fire pit and sitting down. He reached out a hand to feel the heat rising from the Stone Slab and beckoned to her with a smile.
"Oh." Guli Geli glanced at the busy Skeletons one more time before dejectedly walking over to sit across from Li Ziyu. She stared blankly into the flames beneath the Stone Slab, lost in thought.
"Guli Geli," Li Ziyu began, looking up curiously, "you've been in this place for so long. Have you never thought about leaving?"
"I have thought about leaving, but there's no way for me to get out," Guli Geli said, her voice filled with discouragement.
