But they had achieved their goal. They had opened a breach, and the Goblin Warriors swarmed through it, surging forward like a torrent of water through a cracked dike.

As the Goblin Warriors poured into the breach created by the Goblin Cavalry, an opening finally formed. These gaps were precisely what the Headhunter Tribe War Chariots were aiming for. They drove their accelerating chariots, unstoppably cutting into the Undead ranks. The sharp blades on their wheels shredded the Undead, mowing them down in droves.

Even if their skulls weren’t destroyed, it still took time for them to recover—time enough for the Goblin Warriors to press their advance.

The frontline Skeleton Undead position was breached.

Li Ziyu raised an eyebrow. ’The opposing commander is quite skilled. That was a well-executed combination. With a single move, they’ve wiped out the Undead at the front, carving away a chunk of the defensive line before the fortress and allowing their Warriors to get closer.’

’The Goblin Cavalry are manageable. They’ll eventually be surrounded, hunted down, and intercepted by the Skeleton Undead until they die of exhaustion. But the war chariots... they’re deadly. Wherever they pass, Undead are shredded. It’s difficult to even get close before they lose their momentum.’

"Reinforce the center! Encircle them from the flanks."

Li Ziyu issued the command to the High Level Skeleton Warriors through the Soul Network. The order was passed down through the ranks, and the Skeleton Undead positioned before the fortress immediately began to move. More Undead moved forward, using their own bodies to intercept the war chariots, while the Undead on the flanks spread out into a line and began to envelop the Alliance Army.

The impact of the war chariots was indeed stronger than that of the Goblin Cavalry, but the horses’ stamina was limited. Even horses from the Otherworld couldn’t charge forever. Under the suicidal attacks of wave after wave of Undead, the chariots gradually slowed down, one after another, before being overturned. The members of the Headhunter Race atop them were either killed or wounded, losing their ability to spearhead the assault.

’The enemy is trying to encircle our vanguard? These Undead are certainly ambitious. Do they think they can swallow our entire army?’

’That’s not going to happen!’

From a distance, Palamede saw the Undead’s movements, guessed Li Ziyu’s intention, and ordered the catapults to attack the Undead in the furthest part of the center.

CREAK... CREAK...

THWUMP! THWUMP! THWUMP—

Stone projectiles soared into the sky, one after another, heading for the densest concentration of Skeleton Undead. They broke apart in mid-air, delivering a saturation strike. Although it occasionally resulted in friendly fire against the Alliance Army’s Warriors, the damage to the Skeleton Undead was far greater.

’Oohh, so that was their plan all along.’

Li Ziyu understood. He’d been feeling that something was missing from this assault—it was the catapults. This battle had started with a goblin charge, unlike the first time, when they had opened with a catapult barrage.

’Looks like they were trying to bait out the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors and then use the catapults for a saturation strike to annihilate them all.’

’Fortunately, I didn’t fall for it. Otherwise, I would have suffered disastrous losses from that volley.’

’If the Skeleton Undead die, they die; I can just summon more. But the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors are different. I spent a fortune to create them. It would be painful to lose them.’

It had to be said, the damage the Undead sustained from the catapults was immense. In order to intercept the Headhunter Tribe War Chariots, Li Ziyu had changed the Undead’s deployment from their usual block formations into a crowded mass. Now, when the catapult stones smashed down, they hit a target that was packed solid.

Especially since the stone projectiles disintegrated in mid-air, raining down fist-sized rocks from the sky. A single one of those rocks could shatter a Skeleton Undead’s skull. The ground was littered with bone fragments where Soul Fires had dissipated.

But this wasn’t the end of it. Now that the catapults were engaged, Palamede realized the Undead commander was holding back, refusing to act until the perfect moment. There was no sign of the Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors. The catapults, which had been readied specifically for them, were now just bombarding ordinary Undead. He immediately changed tactics. He had the advantage, and he wanted to press it for an even greater result!
