Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 310 166: Sneak Attack from Behind
Wreathed in blood-red flames and exuding a ferocious, tyrannical aura, the Frenzied Skeleton walked up behind the Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars. It gazed toward the distant Alliance Camp, its jaw gaping open as if about to spew fire as it unleashed a roar that echoed through the soul.
"Attack—"
The Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars' hooves churned. Their auras surged as they activated Frenzy Mode and began a mad charge toward the camp.
The "flames" on their bodies merged into a single sheet. From the Frenzied Skeleton's vantage point, it looked like a sea of fire spreading forward, threatening to turn everything to ash!
In contrast to the Frenzied Skeleton, the Dark Skeleton was far more low-key. It merely poked its head out from the shadows, casually gave an order to the Skeleton Desert Wolves, and then retreated back into them.
'The camp ahead held no appeal for it. The Alien Skeletons had experienced much while underground, raising their standards. There were no sufficiently powerful beings in that camp to advance their evolution, so for the Dark Skeleton, the incentive was minimal.'
The Alien Skeletons had hit a plateau. With the exception of that one, the Frenzied Skeleton, the other Alien Skeletons' lust for battle had diminished significantly.
They fought because the battlefield promoted their evolution, allowing them to grow into more powerful Undead. Without that, battle seemed pointless.
In the dark of night, the Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars were incredibly conspicuous, drawing the eyes of every Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army warrior in the camp. They stared intently, their focus absolute, at the enemy sweeping toward them like a wildfire.
They knew that beyond the glowing enemies, more terrifying threats lurked in the darkness—creatures like the Skeleton Wolves that moved like the wind and excelled at hiding, as well as the Archers who launched vicious ambushes from the shadows. These enemies would most likely follow the charging Skeleton boars.
"Prepare for battle!"
The three Vanguard Army commanders issued the order simultaneously. The goblins once again formed the front line, while the Lizardmen and the Headhunter Race fanned out across the camp, warily watching the darkness.
Just as the Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars neared the camp, with everyone's attention fixed on them, the ground suddenly began to tremble with a deafening rumble.
'What's happening? An earthquake?!'
Momonai whipped his head around to survey the area, but when he looked behind him, his body went rigid.
A massive black shadow erupted from the ground behind the Alliance Army. It shot up like a giant python soaring into the sky before crashing back down.
"Get back—"
Seeing the black shadow crashing down from above, Momonai sensed disaster and screamed a warning. But it all happened too suddenly. The Alliance Soldiers couldn't react in time, and the shadow slammed down, crushing some of the slower ones to death on the spot.
'What is that thing?'
Momonai's eyes widened. He could hardly describe the massive object before him. He was certain it was artificial, somewhat like a snake—a very long one.
If a Transmigrator had been present, they would have told him that it wasn't like a snake, but like a train.
Unfortunately, there were no Transmigrators around to explain it to him, not that he was in any mood for an explanation. Because from within the "snake's" body, Undead wielding Hammers were leaping out one after another.
The doors of the Gopher Fortress opened. The Barbarian Hammer Warriors leaped out and immediately lunged at the nearest Alliance Soldiers, swinging their Hammers to crush them.
3,000 Barbarian Hammer Warriors suddenly attacked from the rear, catching the Vanguard Army completely by surprise. The Alliance Soldiers had no time to react before the enemy was already in their midst, slaughtering them.
From the main building, Zhang Peng glanced at the chaotic battlefield outside and grinned. "The timing is just right. Perfect."
He then ordered the Gophers to pilot the fortress back into the underground tunnels. If the battle was won, he would return to retrieve the Barbarian Hammer Warriors. If the battle was lost, he would retreat directly to the Undead Fortress.
'Yep, I'm just the delivery guy. Whether we win or not isn't my problem. That's for the boss to worry about.'
Zhang Peng felt no pressure at all; he was perfectly calm.
"Damn it!"
Momonai understood. This was an Undead tactic. They had used the Undead Wild Beasts at the front to draw their attention, then launched a surprise attack from the rear. So dishonorable!
The Undead tonight had made them suffer a huge loss, and it completely changed Momonai's impression of them.
'The Undead I knew were just a large group of slow-moving Skeletons. Their greatest threat was their ability to expand rapidly—any enemy who died would become an Undead and join their ranks.'
'But in terms of mobility and combat prowess, they were truly nothing special.'
'But what had they seen tonight? First, there were the impactful Skeleton boars, then the Skeleton wolves hiding in the darkness, waiting to ambush. And not only that, but they were now using strategy—using ambushes.'
'The Undead were not what they had imagined. Not at all. This was the true face of the terrifying Undead of legend!'
3,000 Barbarian Hammer Warriors weren't many against a Vanguard Army of tens of thousands. Given time, they could be dealt with. The problem was, there was no time. The attack had come too swiftly.
Caught completely unprepared, many Warriors faced the Barbarian Hammer Warriors and were instantly hammered to the ground, sparking chaos.
And just as the Alliance Army's rear was being ambushed, the Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars arrived, charging ferociously into the camp.
They didn't care whether it was goblins, Lizardmen, members of the Headhunter Race, or even tents in front of them. If it dared to block their path, they would simply charge straight through it!
