Chapter 779 - 779: Seven Dipper Formation
‘The Elven Princess?’ Wuhan’s brows creased from the information she had given him. He knew that Sylverhiel was a priestess of the world tree, and it was a very important position.
He also had guessed that she was from the royal family as well from her demeanor and personality; it reminded him of his spoiled, now very dead step siblings. But never had he thought she was the princess of the Elves.
While his thoughts were sprinting at the speed of light, the black sword of the captain was finally about to touch its target.
But then, the Lord of the Night made its move—
It neither retreated nor used its magical bow to block the attack, but the pair of thin leafy wings behind its back flickered slightly, and an image of a crescent moon that had barely escaped the night of a new moon shone lightly, catching the attention of the group.
The Lord opened its human-like mouth and let out screeches of inhumane words, but somehow—by some mysterious revelation—everyone could understand what it was telling them.
“Protect thee, oh the grand star of Night, the guiding light of the blind souls.” The distorted, inhumane sound seemed to reverberate directly within their ears; a wave of dread and shivers ran through their bodies just from the voice alone.
Wuhan saw the glow from the crescent moon on the wings of the lord of the night escape outwards and gather in the form of an oval shield. From the side, it looked exactly like the crescent moon, and in the front, it was pointy at both tips and wide in the middle.
Clang!
The shield appeared in the short time the sword was about to reach its body and blocked the attack before it even reached its illusionary pale blue skin.
Yet, he could not help but wonder if the physical attacks even had an effect on this creature, seeing the way it looked.
“Agh!” As the attacks were blocked by the pale yellow shield, Captain felt a jolt of pain running through his arms. But despite feeling the pain, he continued to attack, hoping to break the shield with persistence.
But he was too lazy to go through with such a tedious task and gave up halfway and flipped back towards the group, where the seven soldiers were looking at him with admiration and awe.
Seeing their emotions, he could not bring himself to say that he was too lazy to keep attacking and not just stay back in the group. So he looked at the emperor and came up with an excuse.
“Your majesty, I don’t think I can attack without causing a commotion and attracting the attention of the cultists from within. Why don’t you deal with this thing while I keep an eye on those scouters…?”
His carefully woven words did not make the soldiers suspect anything, but Wuhan, who knew his captain better than anyone else, felt his lips twitching.
Wuhan glanced at the Lord of the Night, who had dispersed his barrier with a flicker of his wings, and stepped forward, raising his bow once more to attack.
And again, the bow was aimed at none other than the elven priestess, Sylvheriel.
Feeling the pressure locked on her, the woman trembled where she stood like a poor puppy, abandoned in the winter rain.
Wuhan only took a second to consider what to do before waving at the seven guards standing behind the captain.
“Go ahead and use that move to deal with it. It should not be any more powerful than a general Soul Formation Realm cultivator.”
Now it was the captain’s turn to look at Wuhan in doubt; he never expected their emperor to send seven core formation realm soldiers as cannon fodder.
But his doubt turned into shock when he saw the soldiers move forward without any rejections.
Woosh! Swoosh!
All seven of them moved at once; four guards surrounded the Lord of the Night from all four sides before.
While the remaining three moved with practiced precision and took their spot behind one of the four figures in a single distorted line, forming a formation.
“Seven dipper formation!” they shouted in unison, allowing a gray radiance to rise from their bodies.
“What is this?” Watching the energy from their bodies rise up, Sylvheriel gasped in shock.
Even the captain glanced at the emperor with curiosity but did not dare to voice his curiosity, unlike the tactless woman beside him.
‘What is this formation?’ he wondered inwardly. ‘I have never seen anything like this before, even in the army or on the guards hidden in the royal palace.’
“Seven Dipper Formation is a formation created by taking inspiration from the Seven Saint Formation of the legend.”
Wuhan spoke proudly as the energy from the three cultivators in the rear enshrouded the four cultivators surrounding the creature, forming a grand barrier that seemed to be glowing with complex patterns and ancient characters.
“This formation can trap anything in a temporary barrier for half an hour with the cultivation of the Soul Formation Realm or below for half an hour, no matter how powerful attacks they unleash on the formation.”
There was a hint of absolutely in his words, making everyone heave a sigh of relief.
Everyone but the Elven Princess.
“What… what if the creature is beyond the realms of the soul formation realm?” She gulped audibly before asking with a shaking voice, stammering as she spoke.
Wuhan turned to look at her in confusion, but seeing the look of horror in her eyes, his face fell as well.
“What do you mean?” He asked in confusion before turning his attention towards the lord of the night, who was still entrapped in the formation, hurling arrows at the gray barrier but only to fail in inflicting any damage.
The seven soldiers holding the formation were trembling heavily, beads of sweat forming down their bodies as if they were all exerting tremendous force.
“What if the creature has the ability to grow stronger?” The Elven maiden asked once more. Her words sent shivers down the spine of everyone who heard.
Even the guards holding it in one place looked paler than they already were.
Everyone turned to look at the beast in unison only to see it looking back with a mocking look on its face.
