Genshin Impact : Eerie Teyvat
Chapter 558: Ch 558 : A Dead End of Good Luck
Accompanied by his relentless attacks, Su Yuan could clearly feel that the Eerie energy surrounding "Bennett" was gradually weakening...
Su Yuan was overjoyed, as if victory was finally in sight — the thirteenth floor of the Spiral Abyss was nothing special after all!
But just as the Eerie energy on "Bennett" was about to dissipate completely, an unexpected turn of events occurred!
A surge of dense Abyssal power suddenly erupted from Bennett’s body, swallowing and completely overpowering the lingering Eerie energy!
Dark violet light radiated from him as a massive wave of power burst forth!
Seeing Bennett’s body now glowing with a deep purple hue, Su Yuan suddenly understood — although the Eerie power had invaded the Spiral Abyss, the Abyss was still the dominion of the Abyssal force!
Now, even though the Eerie energy within "Bennett" had vanished, his body was overflowing with the power of the Abyss instead!
The next moment, "Bennett" unleashed that power, counterattacking Su Yuan with immense ferocity, forcing him into a desperate retreat!
It was clear that with the Abyssal force augmenting him, "Bennett" was far stronger than when he had been under the Eerie state.
Su Yuan could sense it perfectly — his own mastery over the Abyssal power was clearly inferior to the current "Bennett’s."
Though he struggled to defend himself, he knew defeat was only a matter of time...
"Bennett! Look at you — before, your bad luck dragged you into the Spiral Abyss by accident!!!"
While fending off Bennett’s attacks, Su Yuan shouted:
"But now, you’re the luckiest person alive!!!"
"I, Su Yuan — your good partner, the great Traveler Aether’s friend — have come to save you!!!"
That was Su Yuan’s idea: since Bennett’s "Eerie state" seemed to be triggered by good luck, and luck — whether good or bad — isn’t a tangible force but a matter of perception, then perhaps...
If he could make "Bennett" feel lucky again, he might re-enter that state of Eerie state caused by internal rules!
If the internally generated Eerie energy could clash with the external Abyssal power, maybe — just maybe — the two forces would cancel each other out completely, restoring Bennett to normal!
Of course, Su Yuan knew how wildly idealistic and unrealistic that sounded.
Something so perfectly convenient was almost impossible...
But he had to try.
Because if he didn’t change the situation now, his defeat — and death — would be inevitable.
And sure enough, everything happened just as Su Yuan predicted!
After hearing Su Yuan’s words, "Bennett" froze in place.
His expression twisted, and tendrils of Eerie energy began to seep out of him once again...
Su Yuan could feel it — the Abyssal and Eerie powers within Bennett were violently repelling and neutralizing each other, dark violet and black-red smoke hissing out through his skin.
But then, something even more unexpected happened!
After a while, the two opposing forces — the Eerie energy and the Abyssal power — truly seemed to cancel each other out perfectly.
Bennett’s face returned to normal, his eyes regaining their clarity.
He scratched his head in confusion and looked at Su Yuan.
"Huh? Where am I? And... who are you?"
Then, as if suddenly remembering everything, Bennett’s expression turned serious.
"I remember now — I remember everything!"
"I was exploring in the Whispering Forest when I accidentally fell into a hunter’s trap!"
"But what I didn’t expect was that at the bottom of that trap... there was a space-time portal! I fell right through and ended up here!"
"And in this strange room, I saw a weird-looking bug!"
"That bug was so strange — it looked like a mix between a spider, a centipede, and a fly. It was like... the ultimate hybrid monster bug!!!"
"That’s right! That’s exactly the bug I was talking about!!!"
"This thing suddenly flew straight into my mouth, and right after that, I felt my whole body being taken over. I completely lost control of myself and blacked out... until I just woke up now."
At that very moment, Su Yuan’s face went pale with horror as he followed Bennett’s pointing finger — the same grotesque bug was darting straight toward his own mouth!
"Ah!!! Why is that thing here again???" Bennett shouted in panic.
"Buddy, quick! Shut your mouth! Don’t let it crawl inside!!!"
Su Yuan didn’t need Bennett’s warning — instinctively, he clamped his mouth shut tight.
But to his horror, the monstrous insect forced its way in anyway!
It pierced through the skin of his lips, pried open his clenched teeth, and burrowed straight inside!
The searing pain in his lips and gums made Su Yuan’s entire body tremble — and before he could even react, the last thing he wanted to see happened again.
Bennett’s expression began to twist grotesquely once more, and that terrifying aura of Eerie energy surged back out from his body!
Su Yuan stared in despair at the scene before him.
Not only had that cursed insect forced itself into his body, but Bennett was once again succumbing to the Eerie state!
But why?!
Hadn’t the Eerie and Abyssal energies within Bennett already canceled each other out completely?
Could there still be lingering traces left behind?
Yet, as the realization dawned on him, Su Yuan’s heart sank even deeper — because this situation might actually be... a deadlock.
After all, if the Eerie power and Abyssal force had perfectly canceled each other out, that outcome itself would count as a stroke of good luck — wouldn’t it?
And if Bennett was lucky, then according to his twisted fate, he’d inevitably fall back into Eerie state!
But if they didn’t cancel out completely, Bennett would still remain under the influence of either the Eerie energy or the Abyssal force — leaving Su Yuan just as helpless!
In other words... this was a no-win situation.
And to make matters worse, there was now that strange, unknown insect inside Su Yuan’s own body.
It was truly the worst possible scenario — danger within and without — an inescapable doom.
