Chapter 146: Chapter 133: Sleeping with Xiao Mingyue, Developing the Hundred Generations Stone Heart Ability
They held each other and wept, walking together through the rest of their lives.
In the second illusion, they were childhood sweethearts. Growing up, going to school, and cultivating together, they were innocent and deeply in love. He was the most talented boy in the village, and she was the most beautiful girl. After growing up, they married, roamed the world, and went through countless adventures and hardships together. In the end, they grew old together, surrounded by children and grandchildren.
The third illusion, the fourth illusion...
In every illusion, the two were lovers. Whether overcoming trials and tribulations to finally be together, or growing up as childhood sweethearts to share a lifetime, those experiences, those emotions, and those joys and sorrows all flooded their hearts. In the illusions, they shared life and death, supporting each other through thick and thin.
The night passed.
Ji Zhixing slowly opened his eyes, only to see that Xiao Mingyue had at some point turned over to lie facing him. Her breathing was even, and the corners of her mouth were slightly curled up, as if she was still having a sweet dream. Right as he opened his eyes, Xiao Mingyue also happened to open hers. Their eyes met, and both saw the swirling emotions in each other’s gaze. In that instant, time seemed to stand still.
Ji Zhixing slowly leaned in. Xiao Mingyue didn’t dodge; she merely closed her eyes gently.
A few minutes later.
Feeling Ji Zhixing’s restless hands, Xiao Mingyue gave him a vicious pinch.
"HISS!" Ji Zhixing gasped in pain and hastily retracted his hands.
Xiao Mingyue sat straight up and began adjusting her clothes. Her face was slightly flushed, but her eyes held a hint of smugness. "Let’s see if you dare misbehave next time."
Smiling, Ji Zhixing got up with her. Looking at her slender figure, a wave of satisfaction filled his heart. Over the past night, the two had experienced several illusions together. Sharing life and death in those illusions had noticeably deepened their relationship. Although the illusions were fake, the emotions within them were real. Having experienced lifetimes of joys and sorrows, the tacit understanding and trust between them no longer needed to be expressed in words.
Xiao Mingyue finished tidying her clothes, shot him a look, and viciously pinched him again. Then, she listened closely. Sensing no movement outside, she lifted the tent flap to take a peek. The sky was still dark, and the Dead Wood Regeneration Forest was completely silent. Everyone else was still fast asleep.
She turned her head to glare fiercely at Ji Zhixing before slipping out of the tent and hurrying back to her own. Lying on his sleeping bag, Ji Zhixing stared at the roof of the tent, recalling the scene that had just unfolded. He looked down at where Xiao Mingyue had pinched him, thinking that next time, he could probably push his luck a bit more.
Morning.
Ji Zhixing stepped out of his tent and saw that Xiao Mingyue was already outside. She had changed into clean clothes, and her long hair was tied back into a ponytail, making her look fresh and neat. Seeing Ji Zhixing come out, she rolled her eyes at him but didn’t say anything.
After the two had a quick bite to eat and packed up their tents, Xiao Mingyue said, "Let’s go and see if we can find anything good today."
"Alright," Ji Zhixing agreed. He then raised his head and spoke respectfully to the empty space in front of him, "Lord Azure Sky Divine Wood, please send us back to our location from yesterday."
As soon as he finished speaking, a ripple in space washed over them. In a flash, their figures reappeared in the same spot they had been yesterday.
Before them lay a desolate desert. Yellow sand filled the sky, stretching as far as the eye could see. In the distance, several sand dunes shifted slowly in the wind, constantly changing their shapes.
"I wonder where the fortunate encounters in this desert are hiding," Ji Zhixing remarked.
They had walked through this area for a long time yesterday, but apart from killing a few gene beasts, they had found absolutely nothing. However, he knew that this desert was likely a treasure land as well; somewhere within these barren sands, some kind of precious item was likely being nurtured. It was just hidden too deeply, and despite searching for so long yesterday, they hadn’t found it.
"Let’s keep walking and see," Xiao Mingyue suggested.
The two stepped forward, continuing their exploration along the route they had left unfinished yesterday. The desert was quiet, save for the RUSTLE of the wind blowing across the gravel. Occasionally, a few sand scorpions would burrow out of the dirt. They kept searching, but even after reaching the very edge of the desert, they found nothing.
"What should we do? Should we go back?" Xiao Mingyue looked at Ji Zhixing.
"Forget it." Ji Zhixing shook his head. "The fortunate encounters here are too hard to find. Besides, it’s possible that someone else has already beaten us to whatever was hidden in this desert."
"Let’s go then. We’ll look elsewhere," Xiao Mingyue replied.
The two left the desert and continued onward. Before long, the scenery ahead suddenly changed. A vast white ice field appeared in their line of sight. From afar, they could see a towering iceberg right in the center of the frozen plains. The snowy mountain was crystal clear throughout, looking incredibly spectacular.
"That iceberg..." Ji Zhixing’s eyes lit up. Treasure lands like this were mostly similar to the sea of flowers they had passed through earlier. In most cases, any treasures nurtured by such a land would appear right in its center.
"Come on, let’s go take a look." Xiao Mingyue had also spotted the iceberg and quickened her pace.
The two immediately stepped onto the ice field and headed forward. However, the moment they set foot on the ice, they felt a piercing chill. It wasn’t an ordinary cold, but a freezing sensation that seeped directly into their bones, as if even their blood was about to freeze over. What was even more terrifying was that this chill could not only freeze a person’s body but could even freeze their very spirit.
