Chapter 145: Chapter 133: Sleeping With Xiao Mingyue, Developing the Hundred Generations Stone Heart Ability
"Let’s test the effects," Ji Zhixing thought. He took out a bit of Nine-Colored Illusory Sea Flowing Fragrance Honey and placed it into his mouth.
The honey melted instantly. A warm, sweet fragrance spread across the tip of his tongue, flowing down his throat and seeping into every limb and bone of his body. Immediately, he felt his Genetic Source Power become active, circulating more than twice as fast as usual.
"Time to refine the Earth Spirit Liquid." With a thought, Ji Zhixing immediately began the refinement process.
As he worked, he discovered that his refinement speed was several times faster than before. The Genetic Source Power within his body grew increasingly solid, and the total capacity he could accommodate was steadily expanding.
"This is so fast!" Ji Zhixing’s heart surged with excitement. He could clearly feel his cultivation base growing at a visible rate.
One drop, two drops, three drops... He refined the Earth Spirit Liquid drop by drop.
After an unknown amount of time, he finally stopped when he felt his Spiritual Power was nearly depleted.
"I can’t cultivate anymore," he thought, shaking his head as he downed a bottle of Spiritual Power recovery potion.
The potion he used was one he had gotten from Xiao Mingyue. However, even though he could quickly replenish his Spiritual Power, he didn’t plan on continuing his cultivation tonight. Next, he intended to focus all his attention on developing the abilities of his Hundred Generations Stone Heart.
"The pillow is still with Ming Yue," Ji Zhixing thought to himself as he got up and walked out of the tent.
Outside, the sky had turned completely dark. In the Dead Wood Regeneration Forest, leaves rustled in the night breeze. Far off in the sky, a few illusory stars emitted a faint glow. Most of the other students had already retreated into their tents; only a scattered few remained outside, chatting in low voices.
Sweeping his gaze around, Ji Zhixing spotted Xiao Mingyue sitting on a rock not far from her tent. She was gazing up at the night sky, lost in thought. The night breeze blew past, making her long hair flutter gently.
Hearing footsteps, Xiao Mingyue turned her head. Upon seeing it was Ji Zhixing, the corners of her lips curved up slightly.
"Finished cultivating?"
"Yeah." Ji Zhixing nodded and walked to her side. He glanced at the sky, then looked down at her. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"It’s fine," Xiao Mingyue shook her head. "Improving your strength is what matters most."
Ji Zhixing crouched down beside her and studied her delicate profile. Under the hazy night sky, she possessed a breathtakingly captivating beauty.
He thought for a moment before lowering his voice. "How about you sleep in my tent tonight?"
"Huh?" Xiao Mingyue was slightly taken aback. She turned to look him up and down, eyeing him as if he were a scoundrel. "What are you planning?"
"Relax." Ji Zhixing smiled. "Tonight, I need to develop the Hundred Generations Stone Heart’s abilities. Even if you sleep right next to me, I won’t do anything."
Xiao Mingyue blinked, staring at him for several seconds. Then, surprisingly, she nodded.
"Then you’d better remember what you just said," she said briskly, a teasing smile playing in her eyes.
Ji Zhixing’s heart skipped a beat. He completely didn’t expect her to actually agree. Catching his micro-expression, a hint of smugness flashed in Xiao Mingyue’s eyes. She stood up, dusted off her clothes, and took the lead, ducking into Ji Zhixing’s tent.
Taking a deep breath to suppress his racing heart, Ji Zhixing followed her inside. The tent wasn’t large, making it feel a bit cramped with two people inside. Xiao Mingyue took out the Heart Refining Stone Pillow and placed it on top of his sleeping bag.
"Come here." Seeing him enter, Xiao Mingyue turned to him. "Let’s enter the dream together tonight. By using the same Heart Refining Stone, we’ll appear in the same illusion.
"We’re currently boyfriend and girlfriend, and we’ll have the same relationship once we enter the illusion—perhaps even taking it a step further."
"It can do that?" A trace of astonishment appeared in Ji Zhixing’s eyes. Previously, he had only known that the Heart Refining Stone Pillow could pull someone into an illusion to temper their mind. He hadn’t realized that two people using it together could enter the exact same illusion.
"Of course," Xiao Mingyue said as a matter of fact. "The Heart Refining Stone is meant to temper the mind. When two people use it together, their minds are drawn to each other, naturally leading them into the same illusion.
"However, this is only possible if their minds are compatible enough. Otherwise, even if they lie side by side, they’ll just dream their own separate dreams."
She gave Ji Zhixing a look, the corners of her lips turning up slightly. "We should be fairly compatible, shouldn’t we?"
Ji Zhixing simply smiled and didn’t say much.
The two lay side by side on top of the sleeping bag. The Heart Refining Stone Pillow wasn’t very big. With both of them resting on it, their bodies were pressed tightly together.
Ji Zhixing could feel the warmth of Xiao Mingyue’s body and smell the faint, fresh scent emanating from her. He turned on his side, reached out an arm, and gently pulled her into an embrace.
Xiao Mingyue’s body tensed for a split second before slowly relaxing.
"Go to sleep. Don’t try anything funny," she glared at him, though she didn’t resist or push him away.
Ji Zhixing took a deep breath, repressing his distracting thoughts, and slowly closed his eyes. The cool aura of the Heart Refining Stone Pillow flowed into his mind. His heart grew tranquil, and his consciousness gradually blurred.
Soon, he fell into a dream.
Just as Xiao Mingyue had predicted, this dream placed both of them into the exact same illusion. In this first illusion, they were a pair of lovers living during an era of war and chaos. He was a drafted soldier, while she was a wife waiting at home, praying for his return day and night.
Finally, the war ended. Covered in scars, he returned home to find her standing at the doorway. Her hair had turned gray, but her smile was as gentle as ever.
