Chapter 147: Chapter 133: Sleeping with Xiao Mingyue, Developing the Hundred Generations Stone Heart Ability

Ji Zhixing felt his mind becoming sluggish; every thought felt like struggling in a quagmire.

The two continued to walk forward. The further they went, the heavier the chill became. By the time they had covered a little more than half the distance, Ji Zhixing could no longer endure it. Even with his Unmoving Stone Heart ability, he was actually unable to reach the center of the ice field.

The cold had already exceeded his limits. If he went any further, both his body and mind would be damaged.

He turned his head to look at Xiao Mingyue beside him.

Seeing him look over, Xiao Mingyue shook her head. "I can still hold on, but I probably won’t be able to reach the center of the ice field either. I reckon I’ll only be able to try making it there after I break through to the third tier."

"You can’t reach it either?" Ji Zhixing felt slightly disappointed.

He knew Xiao Mingyue’s spiritual will was very strong. After all, she used to sleep on the Heart Refining Stone every day. He even suspected that she possessed some sort of spirit-attribute genetic ability. Yet, to his surprise, even she felt she couldn’t make it to the end of the ice field.

"Then let’s head back for now." Ji Zhixing shook his head.

They began to retrace their steps. The moment they stepped out of the ice field, the piercing chill finally dissipated. They both let out a long breath, feeling completely relieved.

"Let’s take a break." Ji Zhixing found a rock, and the two sat down together.

As they rested, Ji Zhixing gazed at the crystal-clear iceberg in the distance, feeling a bit reluctant to give up.

"We’ll come back and try again once we break through to the third tier," he said.

"Mhm," Xiao Mingyue nodded. If Ji Zhixing could break through, then she would be able to break through as well.

"What’s going on here?"

At that moment, a girl with a very cold expression suddenly walked over from the distance.

Seeing this girl, Ji Zhixing’s expression shifted. Yesterday, Jiang Qingqian had told them about the geniuses from Feng City University and Yun City University who had fused with fifth-tier Radiant Moon-grade genes. The girl before them was the student from Feng City University who had fused with the Six Desires Nightmare Beast gene.

According to what Jiang Qingqian had said, her name was Yu Mengdie.

"This ice field is very cold. It can even freeze a person’s spirit," Ji Zhixing explained briefly.

"Freeze the spirit?" Yu Mengdie’s eyes lit up at his words. Then, ignoring the two of them, she walked straight into the ice field.

"As expected of a genius who fused with a fifth-tier Radiant Moon-grade gene. She’s so arrogant, not even bothering to thank you!" Xiao Mingyue scoffed as she watched Yu Mengdie venture into the cold.

"She is quite impolite. She falls far short of my Ming Yue," Ji Zhixing nodded in agreement.

The two then watched as Yu Mengdie ventured deeper and deeper into the ice field.

As a third-tier Genetic Cultivator who had fused with a fifth-tier Radiant Moon-grade gene—one that leaned toward spiritual attributes, no less—Yu Mengdie was clearly able to walk much further than they had. Only as she neared the iceberg did her pace begin to slow, until she eventually came to a complete stop.

"Even she can’t scale that iceberg?" Seeing this, Ji Zhixing was a bit surprised. He hadn’t expected the ice field to be this formidable.

"Let’s go." Xiao Mingyue glanced at Yu Mengdie from afar. "We need to strive to break through to the third tier as soon as possible. If she hasn’t gotten her hands on the treasure here by then, we’ll snatch it for ourselves."

"Alright!" Ji Zhixing nodded.

They didn’t linger any longer. After taking one last look at the distant iceberg, they set off again.

However, it was as if all their luck had been used up the day before. The two searched for a long time afterward without making any discoveries. It wasn’t until dusk approached that they stumbled upon a lush, verdant forest.

The trees within the forest were tall and dense, their branches and leaves thriving.

"This place..." As Ji Zhixing looked at the forest, he suddenly felt the Willow Tree gene within his body stir slightly. "What’s going on? Is there a treasure here beneficial to the Willow Tree gene?" he wondered aloud. "Come on, let’s go in and take a look!"

He took a deep breath, grabbed Xiao Mingyue’s hand, and walked forward.

SWISH SWISH SWISH...

The moment they entered, the forest seemed to come alive. Tree roots burst out from the ground, writhing like pythons and whipping wildly toward the two of them. Branches also drooped from above, lashing down like whips.

They held on for a short while before they were forced to flee from the forest.

"What the hell is wrong with this forest?" After escaping, Ji Zhixing had an ugly expression. He hadn’t expected the forest to be this troublesome. Even going in together with Xiao Mingyue, they couldn’t last very long.

"Could you really feel that this place is beneficial to you?" Xiao Mingyue turned her head and asked.

"Mhm," Ji Zhixing nodded.

"Then we’ll come back after reaching the third tier." Xiao Mingyue gave the forest another glance. Right now, their strength was insufficient; even she couldn’t do anything about it.

"It seems we won’t be gaining anything today." Ji Zhixing sighed, looking back at the trees that were gradually returning to a state of calm.

"This is normal," Xiao Mingyue looked at him and smiled. "Although the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land is rich in resources, it’s not like you can reap rewards every single day.

"If it truly allowed you to harvest treasures worth millions of points every day, it would be no problem for you to rack up a hundred million points in a month."

Ji Zhixing thought about it and agreed. If that were really the case, this treasure land probably wouldn’t be reserved for them freshmen to use.

"Let’s go then. We’ll head back," Ji Zhixing said. He paused and turned to Xiao Mingyue, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. "I felt that last night’s session was very effective. Let’s try it again. If nothing unexpected happens, I estimate that after tonight, I should just about be able to develop the Hundred Generations Stone Heart ability."

"Really?" Xiao Mingyue looked at him suspiciously.

"Really," Ji Zhixing said earnestly. "I feel that when you lie beside me, the effectiveness of my spiritual cultivation is truly much better."

Xiao Mingyue stared at him for several seconds, then scoffed.

"Like I’d believe you."
