Under the true hit effect of the blood spear, even an Old God could not avoid Caelum’s strike. That was the gap between the power of Old Gods and Outer Gods.

The instant the blood spear pierced the body of the great existence, One Hit Kill triggered. A power higher than this world’s rules, and far less reasonable, descended and granted that Old God the purest death and end.

Seawater churned into an enormous vortex. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled across the sky. The earth split open, and the whispers beside Caelum’s ears vanished along with it.

Huge black tentacles sank weakly to the bottom of the sea.

Even an ancient god had no strength to resist One Hit Kill.

Blood spear in hand, Caelum stood on the corpse of the great existence and slowly sank into the depths with It. Endless power was drawn away by the spear and poured into him.

Unlike the source essence of ordinary humans, the source essence of an ancient god was extremely special. It contained the rule power of this world and boundless divinity.

That was why humanity could never reach divine power.

They were not merely aggregates of vast source essence. They were also incarnations of certain rules of this world. In essence, they were completely different from humans.

Source essence, divinity, rule power.

Everything that belonged to the great existence was accepted by Caelum in full.

The long cherished wish of the Crossbone Order was realized through him. He had truly accomplished the feat of slaying a god.

As he absorbed the power of the great existence, Caelum’s Sequence path began to rise at an inconceivable speed, pushing him into Stage Five of the Investigator Sequence in one leap.

After Stage Five, measuring power by stages no longer meant much.

Source essence carrying divinity and world rules continued to pour into Caelum’s body, rapidly elevating his essence.

Caelum could feel and even see more things.

After he fully absorbed the power of the great existence, he clearly sensed the shackles of the world pressing down on him.

But now, that layer of restraint had become something Caelum could touch.

The greatest difference between Old Gods and Outer Gods lay here.

Old Gods could not break through this shackle.

Outer Gods could stand above it.

Caelum was different.

He decisively activated One Hit Kill and shattered the restraint, breaking through every barrier that blocked him from advancing to a higher level with overwhelming force.

His advancement, which should have stopped, continued toward an even higher state.

In one leap, he obtained a power enough to stand beside the Outer Gods.

Yet it was still not enough.

"This is not the limit."

After advancing to the level of an Outer God, the rules of the universe and the concepts of all things finally took form within Caelum’s perception. By extending his hand, he could touch them.

With a single thought, all the universal rules of Old Gods were erased.

All ancient gods, along with the entire world of Old Gods, broke apart in an instant.

Caelum’s advancement continued. Every shackle on the path ahead ceased to exist the moment he touched it.

After breaking past the limit of the world of Old Gods, he began approaching the limit of the infinite story worlds.

Soon, he once again sensed that limit.

As he broke through again and again, the invisible ceiling above the infinite story worlds rose along with him.

Without the aid of a special ability, Caelum would never have been able to break through that ceiling.

It was not a limit that could be surpassed merely by raising his Realm.

In the infinite void, countless concepts and rules collapsed around Caelum, shaking the entire infinite story worlds so violently that they seemed ready to be destroyed at any moment.

Then, with a thought from Caelum, One Hit Kill triggered.

The limit of the infinite story worlds shattered completely, allowing Caelum to rise above the true limit.

Above the infinite story worlds, in a stretch of nothingness, the truth Caelum had wanted to know appeared before him.

There was no conspiracy.

No hidden mastermind.

Only two white clusters of light.

He stretched out both hands. When the two light clusters fell into his palms, he immediately understood that these were the roots of the two great systems of the infinite story worlds.

There was no need for Caelum to attack them.

Without the slightest desire to resist, they accepted Caelum’s control.

For countless years, they had been waiting here for the final moment to arrive, connected to the infinite story worlds and maintaining their balance.

And now, the final moment had come.

The process went so smoothly that Caelum could not help feeling surprised.

He had thought there would at least be a great battle. He had never expected it to be this easy.

At that moment, a white cluster of light floated out from Caelum’s body.

This was the special ability system he had obtained after arriving in the infinite story worlds.

Under Caelum’s curious gaze, the three systems merged into one and formed a white vortex before him.

This time, the vortex did not forcibly swallow Caelum.

He knew this was a door.

Unlike before, this time he had the right to choose.

He could choose to enter it, or he could choose to give up.

But he had already come above the infinite story worlds.

Where else could this door lead?

In the game worlds, he could return to the Earth story world through a vortex.

What about this vortex?

Where did it lead?

Caelum pondered for a long time.

Then he walked into the vortex without hesitation.

Caelum woke from deep sleep.

The first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was a white ceiling. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant.

"Awake?"

A female nurse came to the bedside and handed Caelum medicine and water.

"It is time for your medicine."

"Hm?"

Caelum was a little dazed.

He found himself lying on a hospital bed, dressed in patient clothes. There was nothing wrong with his body, and he did not seem injured or ill.

He asked the nurse, "Where is this?"

The nurse replied, "Ike Island Psychiatric Hospital."

"Hospital?"

"Yes. The most serious cases are all here."

He turned his head.

The person lying in the next bed was actually Aurelius.

Aurelius got up, stretched, then picked up the hamster cage by the window and set it on the bed. He took out a chessboard and began playing chess with the hamster.

The hamster sprawled lazily inside the cage.

After half a day, Caelum finally understood the situation.

He had been sent to psychiatry for treatment because he suffered from schizophrenia.

Aurelius was the same. He was always imagining that he was some ridiculously powerful Ascendant.

Every day, he shouted that he was half a step into Transcendence, some Divine Heir of some Celestial Court, and that he had drifted for countless years on the Sea of Transcendence before recently transcending out of it and returning to the mortal world.

Caelum went out for a walk and found several familiar people in nearby wards as well.

Derek and Guy were both here.

After waking from sleep, he suddenly discovered it had all been a dream.

Aurelius placed the hamster cage back on the windowsill and said to Caelum in boredom, "Fluffball is terrible at chess. Winning against it gives no sense of accomplishment at all."

"Squeak, squeak."

Fluffball stared at Caelum and chirped twice.

This was the true real world.

There was no game invasion here, no infinite story worlds, and no DMB.

Everything was ordinary beyond measure.

Soon it was time for medicine again.

When the nurse brought the medicine over, she said to Caelum, "The doctor says your condition has been much better recently. As long as you do not have hallucinations again, you should be able to leave the hospital."

Caelum looked out the window at a young man kneeling on the lawn, speaking to his phone about who knew what. Curiosity stirred in him.

"What is he doing?"

"I do not know."

The nurse shook her head and sighed.

"His condition is much more complicated and much more serious than yours. He changes every day. Even the doctor finds him difficult to handle."

After taking his medicine, Caelum was still watching the strange young man outside the window.

An interested smile appeared on his face.

He opened his palm, and the infinite story worlds appeared within it.

He chuckled.

"The real world is more interesting than I imagined."

Then his consciousness seemed to sink into a bottomless darkness.

The white ceiling, the smell of disinfectant, Aurelius and Fluffball, the strange young man outside the window, all of them drifted far away.

Like a dream.

And like some deeper layer of reality.

In the darkness, a familiar interface appeared once more.

Reality world detected.
