Game Invasion: 100x Evolution, From Weak to God
Chapter 299: Ambainon
The two of them had to admit it.
Perhaps some invisible bond truly existed between them, because the game had barely begun, yet they had already managed to meet up in this world.
As top professional players, Derek and Guy had not fallen too far behind in their exploration and clearing progress. Both had already stepped onto Sequence paths.
Derek was Stage Two of the Adventurer Sequence.
Guy was Stage Two of the Speculator Sequence.
These two Sequence paths shared one trait. They were exceptionally sensitive to wealth, treasure, and opportunity.
By working together, they had found a tremendous chance, and for that chance, they had traveled hundreds of kilometers all the way to Lake Senaga.
"I sense danger."
Derek was uneasy, unusually cautious.
"Whatever is buried here seems more dangerous than we imagined. I have a bad feeling about this."
As a Speculator, Guy sensed nothing.
All he knew was that something in this place was very likely to let both of them soar straight upward.
Still, he trusted Derek’s judgment.
An Adventurer’s intuition toward danger was always sharper than his.
"So what is your choice?"
Derek hesitated.
Then, at that moment, a roar exploded across the sky.
A streak of red light tore through the air. It came with terrifying force, fast as thunder, and plunged straight into Lake Senaga, splitting the lake in two.
Towering waves surged backward and shot into the sky. Huge volumes of lake water crashed onto the shore, frightening Derek and Guy so badly that they turned and ran.
Only after reaching a safe distance did they look back.
Both of their eyes widened.
A blood colored spear had pierced into the ruins at the bottom of Lake Senaga.
The divided lake water did not close for a long time, as if some invisible force were still holding it apart, forming a path that cut through the entire lake.
"What is going on?"
While Derek was still shaken, he quickly looked around.
The moment a familiar figure entered his sight, his scalp went numb.
He turned and ran.
"Huh? What happened?"
Guy was confused.
Then he turned his head.
A heartbeat later, he ran too.
"Wait for me!"
There was no need to hesitate.
Just that strike from moments ago was not something the two of them could possibly block. It had pierced straight through Lake Senaga in one blow. If either of them took a hit like that, they would die on the spot for sure.
The moment they saw Caelum, they understood.
This place belonged to the big shot.
A big shot really was a big shot. The game had only just started not long ago, yet he was already this strong.
In the blink of an eye, the two vanished like smoke.
No opportunity mattered more than their own lives.
After all, in this world, as long as they survived until the end, they would receive a Wishing Star.
There was no need to risk provoking the big shot.
Caelum entered the ruins at the lake bottom.
Only after drawing closer could one see that the blood spear had firmly pinned a withered old man to the ground.
Caelum did not care.
He grabbed the blood spear and absorbed all the withered old man’s source essence.
Compared with the Grand Archbishop, this man’s source essence was pitifully small.
Only Stage Three of the Investigator Sequence.
That was right.
This was the archaeologist who had guided Caelum into the Investigator Sequence. The notebook Caelum had obtained at the start had come from his hand.
By using the notebook to spread the message that this place might hold the opportunity to advance to Stage Four, he had lured Stage Three members of the Investigator Sequence here.
A stale old trap.
Caelum could not even be bothered to waste words on him.
As one of the hidden manipulators behind the Investigator Sequence path, he was cleanly nailed to death here by Caelum’s spear.
The ability of Stage Four of the Investigator Sequence activated.
Caelum freely browsed through everything that had happened in these ruins in the past.
Most of what he saw were scenes of the archaeologist ambushing those who came seeking opportunity.
His purpose was nothing more than offering these people to an ancient god, hoping to obtain a blessing and advance to Stage Four.
Unfortunately, more than a hundred years had passed.
No matter how many Stage Three Investigators the archaeologist had sacrificed, the ancient god had never paid him any attention.
Ancient gods did not need sacrifices at all.
Human lives were far too insignificant to Them.
They had no use for them.
Thinking that sacrifice could draw the gaze of an ancient god was only the one sided wish of humble humans.
But one thing was correct.
This place did indeed have an extremely close connection to an ancient god.
What made it laughable was that in ancient times, this ruin had been called Ambainon.
It had once been the dwelling place of an Old God.
After the defeat, it became that Old God’s sealed land.
The archaeologist had actually offered sacrifices to an Outer God in this place.
One had to know, Outer Gods and Old Gods had once fought a war. The two sides could almost be considered mortal enemies.
With that sort of behavior, never mind receiving a blessing. The fact that he had survived until now without being killed by some ancient god already counted as extraordinary luck.
Ambainon, translated into modern writing, roughly meant dweller of the deep sea, or ruler of the deep sea.
In the past, this had been the dwelling of an Old God.
After defeat, it became the sealing place of an Old God.
At the very center of the ruins stood an altar carved with strange patterns.
Caelum raised the blood spear.
Without the slightest hesitation, he stabbed down.
Crack.
The hard stone slab split open at once.
One Hit Kill triggered.
The invisible seal of the Outer God was shattered in an instant.
Then the earth began to shake.
Dense cracks spread across the altar.
With a tremendous sound, a vast amount of seawater erupted from the altar, as if it meant to drown the entire world.
Surging waves roared across the land, devouring everything.
In Cton, people walking on the street suddenly noticed the ground trembling beneath them.
Confused, they looked up.
Then they saw a wave dozens of meters high outside the city, pushing toward them like a wall of water.
Their bodies shook with fear.
They could hardly believe it.
"A tsunami?"
This was inland. Where had a tsunami come from?
The giant wave crashed down.
Tall buildings collapsed in an instant, and everything was swept into the surging seawater.
It was like the end of the world.
Endless land was being dragged beneath the sea.
Before the power of an ancient god, humanity had no way to resist such a disaster.
Vast seawater swept past.
In the blink of an eye, Cton became a city beneath the sea.
Inside the ruins, tentacles formed entirely from black tide reached out from beneath the altar.
An indescribable strange thing slowly emerged from within.
It had no fixed form.
It was the ruler of the deep sea.
The dweller of the Ambainon ruins.
An Old God with supreme power.
Dark currents surged.
In the dim sea bottom, Caelum held the blood spear and looked directly at the great existence before him with a human body.
Before that endless power and vast form, he was incomparably small.
When the Old God revived, mad whispers once again echoed beside Caelum’s ears.
Yet they could no longer cause him any negative effect.
The great existence seemed to be saying something to him.
Caelum had no interest in listening.
He resolutely raised the blood spear in his hand and stabbed it into the body of the great existence.
"So noisy."
