Chapter 384: Chapter 384: The Hunt

Not far away, a five-player team was searching for supplies.

"Boss, I don’t get it. Why aren’t we looting inside the city? That’s where the good stuff is."

"Shut up! You think I’m a fucking idiot? Fumira’s already made it clear: anyone who tries to take his spoils will face the consequences!"

"But I’ve still seen people going into the city."

"Are you an idiot? Most of the people going in are military. The rest are all connected to his men in one way or another."

"So what do we do?"

"What else can we do? We’ll just wait and see which unlucky bastard runs into us, then kill him to recoup some losses."

"Good idea. Hey, what’s that red light over there?"

Just then, they noticed a red light glowing in the mist to their right.

Before they could figure out what was happening,

a red beam of light shot through the mist and struck the team dead-on.

BOOM!

The massive explosion wiped them all out.

Long Ming rushed over at top speed, quickly scooped up their backpacks and dropped weapons, then left the scene exhilarated, already searching for his next prey.

He found that robbing people was a really fast way to get rich.

Besides, no one who could enter this instance and make it to this island was poor.

...

「The center of Paradise Island.」

A metal wall, twenty meters high, encircled the entire city.

Within the city stood buildings of steel construction. These structures were packed tightly together, their surfaces covered in rows upon rows of windows.

The whole city gave off an extremely oppressive feeling.

At that moment, Fumira was standing in the city’s central plaza. Soldiers were returning with bags of all sizes, piling everything they had collected here.

Soon, a small mountain of goods was stacked high.

"Sir, it looks like we’re going to strike it rich this time."

Nodding said, fawning over Fumira.

"Tell the men to step it up. When we get out of here, I’ll reward them handsomely!"

Fumira was in an excellent mood.

"Understood."

Nodding quickly replied.

...

「Elsewhere.」

A man in a second-generation, agility-type exoskeletal armor was sprinting desperately toward the central city, a look of terror on his face. He kept glancing back over his shoulder, and once he confirmed no one was behind him, he cursed under his breath.

"Fuck, what the hell. I survived Major Fumira’s sweep only to nearly die at the hands of some psycho."

Just then, a red figure appeared ahead of him.

"You’ve got to be kidding me!"

The man’s eyes went wide.

Before he could even react,

SLICE!

His neck was severed.

Long Ming waited quietly for the body to disappear, then raised his wristband and scanned the dropped equipment and backpack into his safe.

After he was done, he turned around. The massive city came into view.

Long Ming’s expression shifted. He had hunted almost everyone wandering outside, but he felt the profits were still a bit lacking.

With a surge of determination, he strode toward the city.

「The main gate of Heaven City.」

Two men in second-generation mechanical armor, the insignia of the Third Legion engraved on their chests, stood guard here.

"Sigh, what bad luck. Everyone else is inside, having a blast looting, and the two of us are stuck here on guard duty."

Habita complained to Aphnu.

"Alright, stop complaining and keep a good watch on the entrance. If any unauthorized personnel sneak in and Lord Fumira finds out, we’re screwed."

"Relax. Who’d be stupid enough to come over here?"

"True."

"Still, I don’t get it. Isn’t Lord Fumira from a major noble family? How come he seems greedier than anyone?"

"You wouldn’t know, would you? Fumira wasn’t born from the main wife. The resources he gets are limited. Now that he’s finally climbed to this position, of course he’s going to plunder everything he can."

"Oh, so that’s how it is. Huh?"

"What is it?"

"My eyes aren’t playing tricks on me, are they? I think someone’s actually walking over."

"Who’s so bold?"

Aphnu looked up.

He saw Long Ming approaching from a distance.

"Halt! Lord Fumira has booked this whole place! Unauthorized personnel are forbidden. Get lost!"

Habita shouted at Long Ming.

Long Ming ignored them and kept walking.

"Well now, you’re asking to die!"

Just as Habita and his partner raised their guns,

Long Ming suddenly erupted into action, lunging forward as a red afterimage and instantly slicing off both their heads.

Until the moment of their deaths, their faces were etched with disbelief. That someone would dare attack members of the Third Legion... For years, hadn’t everyone always bowed and scraped before them?

Long Ming glanced down at the bodies of Habita and his partner and couldn’t help but shake his head.

’These Third Legion soldiers are far too overconfident, letting me get this close before even trying to fight back.’

He raised his wristband, collected the gear they dropped, and brazenly walked into the city. Immediately, rows of crowded buildings filled his vision.

’It’s this crowded?’

Long Ming was rather surprised.

He had thought the lower districts of Mountain City Mountain were packed, but the building density here was even more insane.

’Is this a place for people to live?’

Long Ming observed the buildings along the way as he walked deeper down the street.

Just then, a man in second-generation exoskeletal armor emerged from a street-side shop with a good-looking girl, saying smugly,

"See? I wasn’t lying. The stuff here is great, right?"

"Mhm, you’re the best, Brother Jie."

The girl said happily to Brother Jie.

At that moment, Long Ming stepped directly in front of them, blocking their path.

Brother Jie stopped, looking at Long Ming with annoyance, and cursed,

"Are you blind?!"

"Yeah! Brother Jie is tight with Lord Fumira."

The girl chimed in.

Without a single wasted word, Long Ming swung his sharp blade in a horizontal slash.

SLICE!

Before the two could react, their heads went flying.

Just then, a man in gray second-generation exoskeletal armor with the Second Legion’s insignia branded on his chest walked out of a nearby building.

He was startled to see Long Ming, his face a mask of disbelief. He immediately turned and ran!

Long Ming noticed him instantly and gave chase at top speed.

The man’s reflexes were also fast; he grabbed a flash-bang and threw it on the ground.

BANG!

The entire area was instantly lit up like day, and a large amount of jamming powder scattered everywhere.

The man took the opportunity to dash into an alley, his expression shifting constantly.

’I can’t believe I ran into the Red Ghost here. I have to find a way to report this immediately!’

With this in mind, Marat hid at the mouth of the alley and peeked out furtively.

"Where are you looking?"

Just then, Long Ming appeared behind Marat and spoke in a raspy voice.

Marat was shocked. He had just started to turn when...

SLICE!

His head flew straight off his shoulders, and his body collapsed.

’So fast...’

As Marat died, his face was filled with disbelief.

After finishing off Marat, Long Ming was about to pick up the dropped equipment when he suddenly noticed Marat was clutching a Blast Grenade in his hand—and he had already let go!

BOOM!

A huge explosion swept out, engulfing them both.

「The next second.」

Long Ming walked out of the explosion. The surface of his Blade Blood Demon armor was charred black, but it returned to pristine condition in an instant.

Although he hadn’t taken any damage, Long Ming’s expression turned grim, and his brow furrowed.

’That player’s reaction was a little strange. It was like he knew who I was.’

「The city’s central plaza.」

Hearing the explosion in the distance, Fumira’s expression darkened. He spoke in a cold voice.

"Nodding, what’s going on?"

"I’m checking now. Oladu, what happened? Why was there an explosion?"

Nodding immediately opened his communication channel to verify.

Soon, Oladu’s voice came through the channel.

"Not sure. I’m on my way to the scene now."
