Maiden’s Prayer.

Grade: Purple

Long Ming was a little surprised. A doodle was actually Purple-grade.

He put the drawing away. ‘At least Purple items are finally starting to drop,’ he thought. ‘Those rats didn’t lie to me after all.’

Long Ming immediately resumed his rapid search.

Time ticked by.

「Three hours later.」

Long Ming had looted all the nearby buildings. Although he hadn’t found anything Red-grade, he had discovered a few Purple-grade items. At the very least, he’d made back the cost of the invitation.

He then walked toward the coast and was met with the sight of a red sea.

Long Ming was taken aback for a moment. ‘The ocean in this world is red? No matter how you look at it, this color isn’t normal.’

He started walking along the shore.

But he hadn’t gone far before he stopped abruptly and ducked behind a beach house.

He cautiously peeked out, gazing toward the distant beach and zooming in on the optical image his sensors captured.

He saw Fumira with his subordinates, looking around.

“What the hell? There’s nothing here.”

“Lord Fumira, this isn’t right. This area must have already been looted. We can see signs of it. Maybe we should leave?”

Nodding, piloting the custom third-generation Mechanical God, Blazing Wing, spoke up.

“The absolute nerve! Someone dares to snatch a prize from me?”

Fumira said, displeased.

Seeing that Fumira was getting angry, Nodding and the others shut their mouths and stopped trying to persuade him.

Just then, Gu Fei, Seap, and their group happened to walk out of a nearby building.

Fumira and his men spotted them instantly.

“Oh no, it’s Fumira’s group! Let’s go!”

Gu Fei’s heart sank. He quickly led the others to leave.

“Get over here!”

Fumira shouted at Gu Fei’s group in a domineering tone.

Seap and the others all turned to Gu Fei and asked uneasily.

“Boss, what do we do?”

“We’ll go over. Remember, no matter what, don’t talk back or start a fight.”

Gu Fei instructed them as he led Seap and the others over.

“Understood.”

Seap and the others replied in low voices.

Soon, Gu Fei’s group obediently walked up to Fumira.

Gu Fei put on an obsequious smile and said.

“Lord Fumira, what can we do for you?”

“Who told you to search this place? You’ve got a lot of nerve, daring to snatch a prize from me.”

Fumira looked at Gu Fei and his men as if they were ants.

“My lord, you’ve got it wrong! We just picked up some junk.”

Gu Fei quickly explained.

“Take off your gear, drop your backpacks, and open your safes!”

Fumira said to Gu Fei, his voice icy.

Hearing Fumira’s words, Seap and the others grew anxious. If Gu Fei hadn’t warned them beforehand, they probably would have already retorted.

“Of course. It’s our honor!”

Gu Fei said with a forced smile.

Like a bootlicker, he hurriedly took off his gear, threw his backpack on the ground, and immediately opened his wristband safe.

Misser and the other two men did the same, but Seap, unable to swallow the humiliation, didn’t move.

Fumira turned his head to Seap and said.

“Did you not hear what I said?”

“Seap, are you deaf?! Hurry up and take it off!”

Gu Fei yelled anxiously at Seap.

Reluctantly, Seap took off his gear and backpack and opened his safe.

Nodding stepped forward to inspect their things, then turned to Fumira and said.

“Just some miscellaneous items. The best things are two Purple-grade items.”

After hearing Nodding’s report, Fumira’s expression darkened.

Gu Fei quickly said with a nervous laugh.

“My lord, you see? I didn’t lie to you. Please, I beg you, let us live.”

Hearing Gu Fei’s words, Fumira sneered, grabbed a gun from a subordinate next to him, and fired a shot at Seap’s head.

BANG!

Seap’s eyes went wide as he fell to the ground.

Gu Fei’s heart sank, but he kept the smile on his face, as if the one who had died wasn’t his own companion, but a complete stranger.

Fumira’s gaze swept over the faces of Gu Fei and the others. He then noticed Misser’s tense expression, a look of defiant resentment held back on his face.

He raised his left hand, slapped Misser across the face, and said.

“What’s with that look on your face? You got a problem with this?”

“No.”

Misser replied, suppressing his rage.

Gu Fei kept shooting glances at Misser, silently pleading with him to endure it.

“I can see you’ve got a problem. So you can die!”

Fumira raised the gun in his right hand and shot Misser through the heart.

Misser collapsed to the ground.

Seeing Misser die, Gu Fei still spoke to Fumira with a nervous laugh.

“My lord, please calm down.”

Looking at Gu Fei’s servile demeanor, a brilliant smile spread across Fumira’s face. He tossed the gun back to his subordinate, reached out, and patted Gu Fei’s cheek.

“You’re the only one who knows your place. I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll let you keep your pathetic life.”

“Thank you, my lord.”

Gu Fei looked immensely grateful.

“But I’m warning you. Stay put here and don’t you dare explore the other side of the sea. That’s not a place for lowly people like you to explore.”

Fumira warned Gu Fei.

“Yes!”

Gu Fei replied with his forced smile.

“Leave the stuff. The rest of you, get the hell out of my sight!”

Fumira said, as if shooing away stray dogs.

“Yes!”

Gu Fei and the others quickly fled with their two remaining team members.

Long Ming watched this unfold, his eyes flickering.

‘This Fumira guy is arrogant on a whole other level,’ Long Ming thought. But he didn’t dare get any closer. The scanning systems on a fourth-generation Mechanical God were just too powerful. If he moved even a little nearer, he would definitely be discovered.

Just then, Fumira led his men toward the port, and a short while later, they departed on a boat.

As Long Ming watched Fumira’s group disappear into the distance, he turned his gaze to the three figures of Gu Fei’s group further away.

He saw the three of them, stripped of all their gear, come to a stop.

Hammon looked at Gu Fei with contempt and cursed.

“Gu Fei, you’re a real coward, groveling like that. And look what happened! Seap and Misser are dead, and everything we worked so hard to collect is gone. If I’d known this would happen, I’d rather have fought them. At least we could have kept what was in our safes.”

“Exactly! You don’t deserve to be our captain.”

Zuna chimed in with his own curses.

“Zuna, let’s go!”

Hammon angrily led Zuna away.

“Wait, let me explain!”

Gu Fei wanted to explain, but they wouldn’t listen and just walked away.

Watching their retreating backs, Gu Fei felt as if all his strength had been drained. He slumped to the ground in despair, his head bowed, his spirits at their lowest point.

Just then, a pair of feet appeared in front of him.

Gu Fei didn’t look up, but spoke wearily.

“If you’re here to kill me, just do it.”

Long Ming looked at the dejected Gu Fei and said in a raspy voice.

“I saw everything. You did the right thing. The weak must understand their place. If you had fought back just now, it would have only brought greater trouble and disaster upon your civilization.”
