Chapter 381: Begging for Mercy

  • Next Chapter

“Boss Anang, what do we do now? We spent a lot of money to get in here. If this trip is a bust, we’re screwed.”

Anang’s subordinate said, his face etched with worry.

“Let me think.”

Anang replied, his expression dark.

Just then, a taller man in Second Generation Mechanical Armor with a sunken nose bridge, holding a special optical scope, shouted excitedly.

“Boss Anang, I’ve found a fat sheep!”

“A fat sheep? Where?”

Hearing Gao Ge’s words, Anang was suddenly interested.

“Over there!”

Gao Ge immediately handed the optical scope to Anang.

Anang took the scope and looked through it. Long Ming’s figure immediately came into view.

“Even though that guy is wearing Second Generation Mechanical Armor, it looks high-grade. He must be loaded!”

“Not only that, Boss. I watched him for a while. The guy’s operating alone. He must be a lone wolf!”

“A lone wolf is perfect. They might be skilled, but with no backup, they’re the easiest to handle.”

“You’re right, Boss. So, should we take him?”

Gao Ge asked excitedly.

“Take him? Of course, we’re taking him! Everyone, with me!”

Anang gave a greedy wave of his hand and led his subordinates, leaping down from the tall building.

Meanwhile, Long Ming was still patiently searching, but this area was even poorer. He hadn’t seen a single white-grade item.

Suddenly, a danger warning flashed in Long Ming’s vision.

He whipped his head around to look at the area to his right. Two Viper rockets were flying toward him.

Long Ming’s expression turned cold.

BOOM—

The two rockets instantly hit the area where Long Ming was, erupting in a massive explosion.

“We hit him! Let’s move!”

Anang charged out with Gao Ge and his other subordinates.

But when the flames and thick smoke from the explosion cleared, Anang found the area completely empty.

“Where is he?”

“Didn’t we get him?”

…

Gao Ge and the others were stunned.

“Dammit, where did he go?”

Anang had a bad feeling.

“Are you looking for me?”

Long Ming was sitting on a billboard behind Anang and his men. He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, one leg over the other, as he asked in a low voice.

The hearts of Anang and his men skipped a beat. They all spun around to face Long Ming and cursed, annoyed.

“Fuck, you’re tough to kill!”

“Boss, why waste words on him? Let’s finish him!”

Gao Ge and the others raised their firearms and opened fire on Long Ming.

BANG! BANG!

Long Ming leaped down and stomped hard on the ground.

CRACK—

The concrete ground shattered instantly.

He moved like an afterimage, dodging the rain of bullets and charging toward Anang and his men.

‘So fast!’

Anang immediately realized something was wrong, but he still raised his heavy metal blade and charged straight at Long Ming to meet him head-on.

A red glint flashed in Long Ming’s eyes. In an instant, he became a red afterimage and crossed paths with Anang.

CRACK!

Anang’s head was sent flying.

Seeing their boss get taken out in a single blow, Gao Ge and the others yelled, their faces masks of sheer terror.

“This is bad! Run!”

But it was too late. Long Ming appeared before them like a phantom, swinging his sharp blade and cleanly slaughtering them all. Blood splattered everywhere in an instant.

Meanwhile, in a nearby alley, an older, steady-faced man wearing worn-out Second Generation Mechanical Armor, along with four companions, happened to witness the scene.

Shock appeared on their faces, and they instinctively took a step back.

As a result, one of his companions stepped on a plastic bottle, making a faint noise.

Long Ming whipped his head around. His crimson vision immediately spotted five figures.

He charged over at extreme speed.

“Not good.”

Gu Fei’s expression changed drastically.

“Watch me!”

At that moment, a burly man in Second Generation Mechanical Armor, wielding a greatblade, charged straight at Long Ming.

“Seap, don’t!”

Gu Fei hurriedly shouted at Seap.

But Seap didn’t listen to Gu Fei. He raised the greatblade in his hands and swung it at Long Ming with all his might.

Long Ming casually swept his sharp blade toward him.

CRACK!

Like a kite with a broken string, Seap was sent flying, crashing heavily against a wall and falling unconscious.

At that moment, Long Ming appeared before Gu Fei and the others.

Gu Fei immediately begged for mercy.

“Sir, I’m begging you, please don’t kill us!”

Hearing Gu Fei’s plea, Long Ming stopped. He stared at Gu Fei with his crimson eyes and spoke in a hoarse voice.

“Why should I spare you? Give me a reason.”

“Sir, we’re from a low-level civilization that just joined the Star Alliance not long ago. We’re just here scavenging to get by, and we don’t have anything valuable on us. There’s no point in killing us. Please, spare us. Give ordinary people like us a chance to live.”

Gu Fei was one step away from kneeling before Long Ming.

Long Ming glanced at Gu Fei and his group. In this five-man team, only Gu Fei and Seap were wearing armor, and it was old, second-hand stuff at that. The other three had no armor at all.

Even if he killed these five, he wouldn’t get anything valuable. He wasn’t here to pick up junk.

“Consider yourselves lucky. I don’t feel like killing today.”

With that, Long Ming turned to leave, ready to continue his search.

Just then, Gu Fei suddenly called out.

“Wait.”

Long Ming was a little surprised. ‘This guy dares to stop me?’ He turned his head to look at Gu Fei and his group.

“Listen to me. I just wanted to tell you that there’s no need to search this area. There’s nothing here. The part of the city near the coast is much richer. You can try searching there. We can just pick up whatever’s left later.”

Gu Fei said to Long Ming, his expression tense.

Long Ming gave Gu Fei a look, then changed direction and headed toward the coast.

Gu Fei let out a sigh of relief.

“Gu Fei, why did you tell him that?”

A twenty-year-old youth with a buzz cut asked, confused.

“He spared our lives. We have to repay him somehow. We may be rats, but we still need to have some principles. Enough of that, let’s go check on Seap.”

After explaining to Misser, Gu Fei hurriedly led them over to the unconscious Seap.

…

「Elsewhere.」

Long Ming moved quickly toward the coast.

Soon, he reached the edge of the city. The buildings here were clearly more high-end, and there were even some detached villas.

Long Ming immediately entered one of the detached villas.

The entire villa’s main hall was a mess, as if it had been ransacked by bandits, but some things had still been left behind.

Long Ming immediately spotted a box of high-quality cigars on the coffee table. Unfortunately, they were damp and therefore not worth much.

He then walked up the spiral staircase to the second floor.

The second floor was lined with rooms.

Long Ming walked into the nearest room. It was decorated in soft pinks; the walls, curtains, and bedsheets were all pink.

Numerous pink dolls were scattered on the floor. It was obviously a little girl’s room.

Just as Long Ming was about to leave, he suddenly stopped, noticing a drawing on the floor that had been scribbled with colored pens.

He squatted down and picked it up.

The drawing was a doodle of a beautiful island, with the words “Paradise Island” scrawled messily on it.

BUZZ—

Long Ming’s wristband vibrated and displayed a notification.
