Chapter 339: Chapter 45: The First Puzzle Piece to Revolutionize Warfare (2)
"It certainly has been a while!"
The young women replied with a smile.
Mo Ning wasted no time putting them to work. "Since you two are here, you’re just in time to help out."
He made a generous promise, as usual: "When this paper is finished, I’ll credit you both as assistants."
Flower chimed in at the perfect moment: "Ladies, this will be an incredibly significant paper."
Coming from an Artificial Soul of her caliber, a rating of "incredibly significant" was extraordinarily high praise.
The two young women’s eyes immediately lit up.
"Mr. Mo Ning, it would be a great honor to be of service to you!"
Reina bowed without hesitation.
"Mr. Mo Ning, I await your every command!"
Anya’s tone was brimming with eagerness, concealing a subtle, almost imperceptible trace of flirtation.
Mo Ning wasn’t one for pleasantries, either. He immediately handed them a dozen or so schematics:
"I’m giving you one day to create the parts on these schematics. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask Flower."
Considering the skill level of the two rookie assistants, he had picked out the simplest schematics.
However, after several months of Mo Ning’s "tutelage," the two young women were already leagues ahead of the other rookies.
This was proven by one simple fact—three days ago, they began collaborating to optimize a Sub-zero Level Trick and successfully applied for project funding.
The funding wasn’t much—just 150 Black Tower Points.
Although Mo Ning had given them a few key pointers, it was still very impressive for newcomers to have reached this stage.
Without even realizing it, they had pulled far ahead of the other rookies.
In other words, Anya and Reina had finally earned their stripes as research workhorses.
While seriously studying the schematics, the two young women pricked up their ears to listen to Mo Ning and Flower’s conversation.
"Mr. Mo Ning, I believe the ’Air Rotor’ power unit you’ve designed is, without a doubt, a significant and innovative achievement."
Flower’s voice held a hint of excitement.
In her view, this unprecedented Magic Pattern Power Structure was significant enough to constitute a "brand-new theory."
Mo Ning’s lips curled into a slight smile. "Yes, I agree it’s a truly beautiful concept."
Flower elaborated, "In the past, the Magic Pattern Machinery designed by Wizards generally focused only on the Magic Pattern structure, paying very little attention to the mechanical structure. Your design, however, proves that mechanical mechanisms hold immense developmental potential."
The more the two young women listened, the more stunned they became.
’So this Magic Pattern Machinery project is really that incredible?’
Mo Ning gazed at a large, two-by-three-meter schematic spread across the table, his expression showing immense satisfaction.
This schematic was made by splicing together multiple sheets of scale pattern paper. The method was simple—all it took was a single [Paper Fusion] Trick.
It could not only join multiple sheets of scale pattern paper into a larger sheet but also fuse them in layers to make them thicker.
Drawn on the schematic was the detailed structure of the Rotary Wing Magic Pattern Drone, surrounded by thousands of densely packed Divination Parameters.
Recently, Mo Ning had been flipping through several massive tomes about Flying Puppets.
He discovered something very strange—the vast majority of Flying Puppets designed by Wizards imitated creatures from the natural world.
The most common imitations were birds and insects, or the Flying Demons from the Chaos Abyss, the latter being a subject that Wizards had studied in depth.
All of the creatures mentioned above use "flapping-wing" flight.
That is, like a butterfly, they flap and twist their wings back and forth to simultaneously generate thrust and lift.
Of course, flapping-wing flight was only supplementary.
The main power source was the Magic Pattern Group, which essentially converted Magic Power into propulsion in the form of Witchcraft.
Mo Ning was surprised to find that not a single Flying Puppet used a rotary-wing structure—that is, an aerodynamic model that relies on the rotation of blades to continuously cut through the air, thereby generating lift and thrust.
Ads by PubFutureHonestly, he found it a bit hard to understand.
The Wizard Civilization had developed for tens of thousands of years, producing countless geniuses. Why had no one discovered rotary-wing flight?
But just as Flower had said, Wizards "only valued the Magic Pattern structure" and completely ignored the potential of mechanics.
’In my past life, engineers didn’t have an omnipotent energy source like Magic Power, so they had to desperately tap into the potential of mechanics.’
Compared to a flapping-wing structure, a rotary-wing structure had far too many advantages.
First, flapping wings use a reciprocating motion, which makes the mechanical structure more complex.
Rotary wings use rotational motion, requiring only a single rotating shaft, making the mechanics much, much simpler.
Second, due to the nature of flapping wings, they must use flexible materials and rely on deformation to achieve flight.
This made the Flying Puppets built by Wizards generally fragile. A hole in a wing would affect its flight, and to make matters worse, these types of flexible materials were generally quite expensive.
Rotary wings could use hard, rigid materials, which significantly increased their durability. Furthermore, the selection of rigid materials was much wider, and their prices were often much cheaper.
Third, controlling flapping wings is extremely difficult, whereas controlling rotary wings is far simpler.
Fourth, these advantages in structure, materials, and control directly led to a lower manufacturing cost for rotary-wing aircraft.
Beyond that, Mo Ning had also made a very crucial improvement to the rotary-wing drone.
He eliminated the "physical blades" of the rotor and instead used a Magic Pattern Group to create "air blades."
This was because physical blades could easily break if they hit a hard object while rotating at high speed, whereas air blades didn’t have this problem.
