Chapter 337: Chapter 192: Tsk, tsk, tsk, I’m so amazing

Come to think of it, that made sense. Wherever you found people, you were bound to find someone of Chinese descent. Just as some blogger who’d been a mercenary once said, even in the depths of the Amazon rainforest, in the most uninhabited places, you could still find backpackers from China selling all sorts of snacks.

The crew were all seasoned deep-sea fishermen, so they knew exactly where the fish were most plentiful. After motoring for about forty minutes, they finally reached their target area.

Looking back toward San Francisco, they could only faintly make out a long stretch of coastline.

This was a fishing yacht, with a dedicated lounge area inside the cabin. The crew was currently on the foredeck and both sides of the aft deck, setting up the sea-fishing rods. Unlike those used for freshwater fishing, these were all electric.

It was Su Chen’s first time sea fishing, so he made a point of asking the crew for some pointers.

After their explanation, Su Chen realized that sea fishing was actually quite simple. All he had to do was bait the hook, cast it into the sea, and let the rod’s motor automatically release the line. He just needed to keep an eye on the line for any changes. The only other thing to watch out for was not getting pulled into the sea if he hooked a big one.

Soon, Su Chen and the others were all set up, each with two fishing rods. Su Chen took two pieces of freshly cut fish, baited his hooks, and cast them straight into the sea.

During their earlier chat, Su Chen had learned from the crew that this area was mostly populated with cod, but if they were lucky, they might catch various types of grouper.

They were fishing at a depth of a full six hundred feet—about 200 meters. If they were using manual reels, the cranking alone would be utterly exhausting.

The waiting was the hardest part. Su Chen’s eyes never strayed from the lines of his two rods.

"Fish on!"

A sudden shout came from the stern. Su Chen looked over and saw Chen Fei, his face flush with excitement, gripping his fishing rod. The motor was whirring nonstop—who knew if he’d hooked a big one, but the rod was already bent into a deep arc.

While waiting for Chen Fei to reel in his fish, Su Chen kept a close eye on his own rods. Unfortunately, there wasn’t the slightest twitch.

After about five or six minutes, the fish on Chen Fei’s line slowly broke the surface. It was a massive, bright red fish, and it was still struggling fiercely.

"What a huge red grouper! Look at the size of it, must be at least thirty pounds!" a sharp-eyed crew member identified it at a glance.

As the red grouper gradually stopped struggling, a crewman, already holding a gaff, hooked the fish and hauled it aboard.

Chen Fei was practically gloating as he held up the red grouper, laughing uncontrollably. He even had Wang Gang take several photos, much to Su Chen’s obvious envy.

Maybe it was because he’d flown to the Bay Area on a private jet, but after more than an hour, Su Chen still hadn’t gotten a single bite, while everyone else had already made several catches.

Raymond, in particular, had put on a real display of strength, hauling a giant sunfish out of the sea. Although the fish itself was useless, he had still landed a monster.

"Boss, want to try this?" Just as Su Chen was about to bait his hook again, Raymond walked over, holding a dressed chicken that weighed about two or three pounds.

"Does this stuff actually work?" Su Chen asked, puzzled.

"Yep. Big fish are especially drawn to it. If there’s a monster down there, it’s sure to take the bait." Despite his big and burly appearance, Raymond was a thoughtful person; otherwise, he never would have become the head of IPS.

He had noticed Su Chen’s frustration at not catching anything and had made a special trip to the galley to grab one of the chickens intended for lunch, all in the hopes of helping his boss land a big one.

Hearing this, Su Chen didn’t waste any time. With Raymond’s help, he quickly rigged the bait. As he cast the line, Raymond stood beside him, hands clasped together, praying silently. ’Please, God, let the Boss catch a big fish. It’ll be so embarrassing if he doesn’t.’

Fortunately, Su Chen had no idea. If he had, he would have made Raymond demonstrate what it means to use a big man for chum.

......

「The Hillside Villa.」

Jiang Hui was enjoying a leisurely cup of tea in the backyard garden when a flurry of hurried footsteps shattered his peace.

An IPS security guard strode in.

He stopped beside Jiang Hui and said respectfully, "Steward Jiang, someone is here to see the Boss!"

"Hm? Someone is looking for Mr. Su?" Jiang Hui immediately set down his teacup, rising to his feet. "Do you know who it is?"

"They only said they’re from Morgan. They didn’t specify who."

Jiang Hui nodded and led the security guard out at a brisk pace.

The hillside villa was currently under heavy guard, with sentries posted every few steps. Every security officer was either carrying equipment or shouldering a large pack, their eyes fixed on the motorcade at the gate.

Before leaving, Raymond had stressed to them that there were important items in the villa. No outsiders were to be allowed inside without an explicit order from the Boss or himself.

In one of the luxury cars outside the gate, Arthur Morgan, the man in charge of this visit, peered into the villa through the one-way window. A thoughtful glint appeared in his eyes, especially when he saw the security personnel stationed in the courtyard and on the observation deck.

"Fleur, have you finished the background check on this Mr. Su?" Arthur asked suddenly.

The blonde beauty in the passenger seat, typing furiously on her phone, was none other than Arthur Morgan’s personal secretary. A top talent from Yale University’s School of Management, she was a rare prodigy, blessed with both beauty and brains.
