Chapter 336: Chapter 192: Tsk Tsk Tsk, I’m So Amazing

The San Francisco Bay Area, Fisherman’s Wharf!

Pier 39 was the liveliest spot, and Su Chen had come to see what all the fuss was about. This time, however, he had a larger group with him. Besides Chen Fei, Wang Gang, and the others, even Raymond had shamelessly tagged along.

He even claimed he wanted to show Su Chen the most "characteristic" Bay Area activities.

"Uh... so this is the legendary Fisherman’s Wharf?" Su Chen looked at the somewhat familiar scene. If you didn’t know better, you might think you were back in China.

Back when he was on Zheng Island, Su Chen had taken a couple of days off to visit Dalian. He’d toured a seaside pier there, one known for its exotic scenery, and it didn’t look much different from what he was seeing now.

If he had to point out a difference, it was that Fisherman’s Wharf here was full of foreigners, while the one in Dalian was packed with tourists from all over China.

Pier 39 wasn’t very large. It was mostly shops selling souvenirs, fruit, and the like. There were also a few restaurants, and Su Chen’s group deliberately picked a busy one, ready to see what Bay Area cuisine was all about.

But in the end... Raymond ended up polishing off most of the food they ordered, and Su Chen only took a single sip of his drink.

In Su Chen’s words, if you served this several-US-dollar drink back in China, even a dog would drop dead after drinking it. You can imagine just how awful it tasted.

They ended up finding a Chinese-run restaurant and just grabbing a quick bite.

Of course, the main attraction at Pier 39 was watching the sea lions.

Sea lions, mind you... not the seals that like to slap their chests.

On the seaward side of the pier, a dozen or so square wooden platforms floated on the water. They were covered with plump sea lions, lazily sunbathing.

If it weren’t for the stench of sea lion that occasionally wafted through the air, Su Chen might have even stood by the railing and snapped a few pictures.

Leaving the sea lion viewing area, they had pretty much seen all of Pier 39. Su Chen then remembered what Raymond had thumped his chest and promised... the "characteristic" Fisherman’s Wharf activities.

"Raymond, where’s this ’fun’ you were talking about?"

Raymond didn’t say anything, simply leading Su Chen and the others around Pier 30-something. Soon, a marina full of yachts and fishing boats came into view.

Su Chen smacked his lips and turned to Raymond. "Uh... this isn’t the ’characteristic’ activity you were talking about, is it?"

"Yup. Boss, want to try the Bay Area’s most famous kayak fishing? It’s the most popular activity around here," Raymond said, nodding earnestly.

"Kayak fishing? You don’t mean the kind that’s just a slab of wood, do you? The ones with nothing on them, where you have to paddle the whole time yourself?" A dangerous glint appeared in Su Chen’s eyes as he looked at Raymond.

’Is this big lug trying to see all the creative ways I can fall in the water?’ he grumbled to himself.

Seemingly sensing the danger in Su Chen’s gaze, Raymond quickly changed the subject. "Ahem, that’s for people seeking a thrill. If the Boss wants to go sea fishing, of course we’d take a large fishing charter out to sea!"

To be honest, Su Chen was actually somewhat looking forward to sea fishing. Sicong and Qin Fen had bragged to him before about catching huge fish weighing dozens of pounds, and at the time, Su Chen had felt the urge to take a boat out to sea himself.

Besides, Su Chen noticed that Chen Fei, Wang Gang, and the others were all looking at him with expectant eyes. He pretended to ponder for about ten seconds before saying, "Alright, then. Let’s experience what sea fishing is all about today."

Hearing this, Raymond immediately led Su Chen’s group toward the docks. Su Chen had assumed they would have to find a fishing boat on the spot, but to his surprise, Raymond led them straight onto a fishing charter that was about thirty meters long.

The crew on board saw Su Chen, bowed respectfully, and said in low voices, "Good morning, Boss!"

Su Chen immediately shot a questioning look at Raymond, wanting to ask what was going on.

"Boss, this fishing charter belongs to the company. The Bay Area branch bought it specifically for employees to use for recreational fishing."

Raymond went on to explain in detail. After all, the company’s security personnel were either close protection for various dignitaries or active in dangerous regions, constantly under high pressure. Therefore, the company had sourced various ways for its employees to relax.

The fishing charter before them was just one of those things.

Su Chen nodded in satisfaction after hearing the explanation. He thought about patting Raymond’s shoulder in encouragement, but seeing that Raymond was a full head taller than him, Su Chen decisively abandoned the idea.

The fishing charter slowly pulled out of the marina, heading for the Pacific Ocean.

The San Francisco Bay Area is a peninsula. On one side lies the vast, boundless Pacific Ocean, and on the other is a saltwater bay area. Most sea fishing happens out in the Pacific, while the saltwater bay is the preferred spot for the legions of kayak fishing enthusiasts.

The divider between the two is the Golden Gate Bridge, a landmark featured in countless disaster movies.

As the fishing charter slowly passed under the Golden Gate Bridge, Su Chen’s group officially entered the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Within four or five nautical miles of the coast, Su Chen saw no fewer than a hundred fishing boats, making him sigh with emotion. ’These foreigners sure know how to live a leisurely life.’

But as it turned out... a crew member nearby corrected him.

"Boss, most of the people out here sea fishing are tourists from Huaxia..."

"Tourists from back home?" A flicker of surprise crossed Su Chen’s eyes. ’Have my countrymen all become this leisurely?’
