Chapter 309: Chapter 181: Pausing Shanghai, Processing the Inventory on Hand

"Boss, where are we headed now?" Pei Rang glanced in the rearview mirror and saw that Su Chen was smiling. He wasn’t sure if it was because of his reports or if something happy had come to mind.

"Let’s head home." With that, Su Chen put his phone away and closed his eyes to rest.

Seeing this, Pei Rang lowered the volume of the car stereo by several decibels and rolled up the windows.

Su Chen kept his eyes closed and remained silent for the entire drive. He appeared to be resting, but he was actually rummaging through his system’s warehouse, looking for suitable civilian technologies to bring out. He sorted these technologies into categories so they would be easy to retrieve when he got home.

’Finally done!’ Su Chen opened his eyes to find the car pulling into the underground garage of Seaview One. He was stunned for a moment, not realizing he had been busy for so long.

After all, the fastest trip from Hong Bridge to Seaview One took nearly half an hour.

"Pei Rang, come up with me." With that said, Su Chen opened the car door and got out.

Hearing this, Pei Rang quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, a little curious about why Su Chen needed him. If there were instructions to give, he surely would have given them on the ride back.

Suppressing his curiosity, he followed Su Chen into the elevator, which went straight to the top floor.

"There should be water in the fridge. Help yourself to whatever you want to drink."

Even though he hadn’t been back for a while, the property management’s cleaning crew came periodically to tidy up, so it wasn’t the kind of place where you couldn’t even find a spot to sit.

"Okay, Boss!" Seeing Su Chen head upstairs, Pei Rang went to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of Evian mineral water. He hadn’t had a single drop to drink on the way here and was dying of thirst.

He took two huge gulps of water, and just like that, the bottle was more than half empty.

"Ahhh, much better~"

The words had barely left his mouth when he heard Su Chen’s voice from the stairwell, "Pei Rang, quick, come give me a hand!"

He saw Su Chen sitting on the stairs, panting heavily as he held two large bags.

Su Chen had initially overestimated his own strength. He’d figured they were just two large bags of paper documents; a guy who’d been eating solid food for over twenty years should be able to carry them. He just hadn’t expected them to be this unbelievably heavy.

He was only halfway up the stairs, and Su Chen could already feel the bag handles digging painfully into his hands.

"Boss, what’s all this?" Pei Rang walked over quickly, asking curiously as he looked at the two large bags of paper on the floor.

Su Chen patted the bags on the floor and said proudly, "This is the treasure that’s going to make us rich!"

Pei Rang froze for a moment at his words. He pulled out a stack of papers and took a closer look. "Technology for a Super-Nanoparticle Multifunctional Coating Material!"

Pei Rang recognized every word, but he couldn’t quite grasp the meaning when they were all put together. He pulled his phone from his pocket to search it up, and what he found left him completely dumbfounded.

The current widely used technology is composite nano-coatings, which are made by adding nanomaterials to a coating base. In terms of functionality, they were far inferior to what was described in the documents he was holding.

It even had a presence in numerous military applications.

"Boss... is this real?" Pei Rang asked, swallowing hard.

Hearing Pei Rang’s doubt, Su Chen shot him an irritated glare. "What do you think? That I have nothing better to do than to dig up some fake documents to amuse you?"

Pei Rang was speechless for a moment. He looked at the two large bags of documents by Su Chen’s feet, then recalled the list of wholly-owned enterprises Su Chen had asked him for before. His eyes instantly widened.

"B-Boss, this move is just too massive!" ’If he was guessing correctly,’ he thought, ’then both of these bags were filled with similar technical documents.’

Su Chen jutted his chin towards the two large bags. "Take all of this back with you later. You can decide on the specific arrangements."

"Huh? I take them back? Boss, I don’t think that’s appropriate." Pei Rang hadn’t imagined Su Chen would so casually entrust him with something this important. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t inwardly thrilled.

’But the value of these documents is immeasurable,’ he thought. ’If anything went wrong, I wouldn’t be able to pay for the damages even if I sold myself into servitude.’

As for secretly keeping some for himself or pulling any funny business? The thought had never even crossed Pei Rang’s mind. A man will lay down his life for one who truly appreciates him. Ever since Su Chen had placed his unconditional trust in him to make a killing in the Xiangjiang gold market, Pei Rang had taken that principle to heart.

"What’s so inappropriate about it? Many of these technologies are already owned by other countries; it’s just that their level of mastery differs."

Su Chen knew what he was worried about—the possibility of something going wrong.

After a moment of thought, he said, "How about this: I’ll assign some professional security personnel to you. I’ll withdraw them after you’ve finished registering the patents for all these documents."

A security team that Su Chen deemed "professional" had to be extraordinary. ’Once something that good falls into my lap, why would I ever give it back?’ Pei Rang immediately thought of a brilliant idea.

"There’s no need to withdraw them. We can use these people, Boss, to form a few supervisory teams to specifically monitor our subsidiary companies."

Hearing this, Su Chen raised his eyes slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips as he looked at Pei Rang. Although he saw through Pei Rang’s little scheme, he had to admit the idea was actually quite good.

He tapped his right hand gently on his knee a few times. "Alright. When the time comes, they’ll be yours to keep."

With that, Su Chen took out his phone, preparing to call Chen Fei. But just as he was about to dial, the phone rang. A glance at the caller ID showed it was Chen Fei himself.

Without a second thought, Su Chen answered the call.
