From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 472 - 469: Company Bankruptcy
In the vast, single-floor office, Nina Sinclair couldn’t find anywhere to hide.
But the paparazzi across the way were waiting for her to appear so they could snap unflattering photos, and the entertainment reporters outside were waiting for an interview.
She had nowhere left to run.
The immense psychological pressure made Nina Sinclair burst into tears.
She hurried to the door and cried out, "Get out, all of you! I don’t want to be interviewed!"
Hearing a response, the reporters outside immediately grew excited.
Among them were plenty of unscrupulous paparazzi who would stop at nothing for clicks.
One of the reporters asked in a gloating tone, "Miss Sinclair, do you have any comment on the online rumors? If the allegations are true, will you consider making a public apology?"
"Did you incite a minor to sabotage the experiment?"
"Are all the accusations against you online true?"
"Can you open the door and let us in to get the full story?"
Outside the office, the noise grew louder and louder. The hallway was filled with the sound of shuffling feet.
Just as Nina Sinclair was reeling in terror, something horrifying happened.
She clearly heard the lock on the magenta door turning. Someone outside had a key and was opening it.
Nina Sinclair slowly got to her feet, her heart sinking.
The next moment, the door swung open.
A mob of reporters brandished microphones while a cameraman, shouldering his camera, started snapping photos relentlessly.
The blinding camera flashes startled Nina Sinclair. She quickly covered her face as tears streamed down her cheeks.
In the past, such a sight might have elicited sympathy. But now, Nina Sinclair’s makeup was blotchy and caked, her smeared red lipstick made her lips look like swollen sausages, and her hair was a tangled mess, as if it hadn’t been brushed in two weeks.
Even the reporters who had barged in to film were stunned for a moment.
The next moment, however, the crowd swarmed her, shoving microphones practically against her chin and teeth.
"Miss Sinclair, why did you do it?"
"Miss Sinclair, we hear you have a sugar daddy. Is that true?"
"What is your relationship with Joseph Shaw...?"
Time seemed to slow down, and for a moment, Nina Sinclair couldn’t hear a thing. She slowly looked at the reporters relentlessly questioning her. All she saw was the feverish glint in their eyes, focused only on the publicity a big story could bring them. They never once considered whether she actually wanted to be interviewed.
Suddenly, a black microphone was thrust forward, happening to strike Nina Sinclair on the mouth. The pain made fresh tears well up in her eyes.
"That’s enough!"
Nina Sinclair screamed, "I already said I’m not giving any interviews! Are you all deaf? Believe it or not, I’ll have security drag every single one of you out of here!"
After she spoke, she immediately thought of the company’s security guards. Her expression turned frantic. "Where are the guards? What the hell is the front desk for, letting people like you come up here?!"
Nina Sinclair scanned her surroundings but saw no sign of any guards or company staff.
So, Nina Sinclair pushed through the crowd, went to the landline phone, and dialed the front desk.
But all she heard from the other end was a busy signal.
’What... what’s happening?’
Suddenly, Nina Sinclair felt her chest tighten, unable to breathe. A terrible premonition took hold.
Seeing her state, a reporter "kindly" reminded her, "You don’t know yet? The company you work for has gone bankrupt. All the employees and artists quit this morning. You’re the only one left in the entire company."
