Nina Sinclair was stunned.

She stared blankly at the reporter who had spoken, frozen in place like a statue.

"Impossible!"

Nina Sinclair snapped out of her daze, shaking her head frantically. "The company was fine just yesterday! How could it be bankrupt today?"

’Without any due process?’

Nina Sinclair was convinced Chloe Sinclair had paid these people to trick her.

"Do you people have any professional ethics? I told you not to come in, but you just had to barge in! I’m calling the police right now to have every last one of you arrested!"

With that, she went to unlock her phone.

But the moment she did, a low battery notification appeared.

She hadn’t charged it all night, and the battery was on its last legs.

Watching the screen go black a second later, Nina Sinclair’s mouth fell open, and she burst into tears.

The entertainment reporters, however, had no intention of letting Nina Sinclair off the hook. Seeing her sitting on the floor and sobbing her heart out, they signaled to the cameramen behind them to start snapping away furiously.

Hearing the incessant CLICK-CLICK-CLICK of cameras all around her, Nina Sinclair looked over, her eyes glistening with tears.

But the moment she looked up, a microphone was thrust forward, this time right up to her nose.

"Miss Nina, do you remember our question from before? Would you like to say something?"

"Are you aware that you are now 1.5 billion in debt?"

"What?!!"

Nina Sinclair had originally planned to just play dead and slip away when no one was looking, but she never expected to hear those words.

’One and a half billion in debt?’

Seeing that Nina Sinclair was clueless, the reporter had no choice but to explain, "In the last two days, your agency signed thirty-seven new contracts on your behalf. However, due to the negative press surrounding you, all of those companies have terminated their agreements with you at the earliest opportunity."

Nina Sinclair: ???

’How could she not have known about this?’

But even if she wanted to figure out what was going on, there was nothing she could do now.

The reporter could only continue, "The brands and groups that have terminated your contracts include Amity Group, M Women’s Brand, and also the Shaw Group and the Sinclair Group."

Nina Sinclair’s eyes widened. She thought she must have misheard.

"What did you just say?"

’The Shaw Group and the Sinclair Group?’

’Why were they on the list of contract terminations?’

’What in the world is going on?’

A sudden realization hit her. Nina Sinclair’s eyes widened, her mouth agape. Agitated, she cried out, "I was framed! This has nothing to do with me!"

’The Shaw Group and the Sinclair Group, two major corporations, were already her rivals. For them to stick their oar in now meant they had seen through her plot all along.’

’They were just waiting for her to walk right into their trap!’

But no one there moved to comfort her.

Suddenly, a KNOCK KNOCK came from the door.

Everyone turned to look and saw four men in police uniforms walking over.

The man in the lead scanned the room, his eyes finally landing on Nina Sinclair, who was still on the floor. "Miss Sinclair," he said, "a report was filed by a victim today. Please come with us to clarify the situation."

As he spoke, two officers behind him produced a pair of handcuffs from seemingly out of nowhere. With a CLICK, they snapped them onto Nina Sinclair’s wrists.

Someone muttered that this was big news.

Immediately, the sound of countless camera shutters erupted in a chaotic chorus.

It wasn’t long before videos of Nina Sinclair being led away by police were posted online by various gossip accounts.

"Hahaha, you reap what you sow!"

"She’s finally getting locked up!"

"@Emberfall Police Department, great job, guys."

What no one expected, however, was for the official account to actually reply.
