From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 471 - 468: Surrounded
The next day, Nina Sinclair stayed at the office all day.
Her reputation was now in absolute tatters. She was like a rat scurrying across the street, with everyone wanting a piece of her.
She had wanted to go back to her apartment yesterday, but hadn’t expected to find it surrounded by paparazzi.
It scared her so much that she spent the entire night at the office.
She hadn’t eaten for a day and a night, leaving her in a daze. She walked over to the office window, gently pulled back the curtain, and saw at least a few dozen paparazzi downstairs, cameras hoisted and ready to take her picture.
This time, Nina Sinclair truly panicked.
She quickly found her phone, intending to call Joseph Shaw, only to find that his phone was turned off.
For a while, not a single person was willing to answer her calls.
Nina Sinclair cursed under her breath and kept dialing his number.
Finally, on the seventy-second call, Joseph Shaw picked up.
"Nina Sinclair, what the fuck is wrong with you? I told you not to contact me, don’t you understand?"
Nina Sinclair froze for a moment. Hearing his ice-cold tone, she couldn’t process it right away.
This was the first time Joseph Shaw had ever spoken to her like that.
Nina Sinclair was instantly terrified.
’If I lose even Joseph Shaw, then I’m truly finished.’
Despite her resentment, she still used a fawning tone. "Joseph, can you send someone to pick me up? I’m trapped at the office and can’t go home."
After a moment’s thought, Nina Sinclair added, "If you get me out of here, I’ll do anything you want."
’Even though I don’t want to suffer under that old man anymore, escaping the office is the most important thing right now.’
If she were photographed in even a slightly compromising way, she would be damned beyond redemption.
However, there was a long silence from the other end.
Nina Sinclair grew desperate.
"Joseph, please say something! Please, save me, won’t you? I’m your future wife!"
"Wife?" Joseph Shaw sneered on the other end of the line. "Some ’good wife’ you are. Because of you, I can barely save my own ass. If you want to leave the office, figure it out yourself. And another thing—from now on, you and I are through."
With that, he hung up, not even giving her a chance to respond.
For a moment, Nina Sinclair just sat there, phone in hand, completely stunned.
When she tried to call him again, the call wouldn’t go through. A moment later, the number was disconnected.
She sent a WeChat message, only to find that Joseph Shaw had blocked her.
’It’s over!’
That was Nina Sinclair’s only thought.
She sat on the sofa, her expression frantic. Her hair was a mess and her eyes were swollen. In this state, she looked like an old woman in her seventies or eighties.
Completely devoid of life.
CLICK!
Suddenly, Nina Sinclair’s sharp ears caught the faint sound of a camera shutter from the building across the street. A blinding flash of light made her jump.
Her gaze shot to the side, and she saw that on the same floor of the building opposite hers, a group of reporters had appeared at some point, their fingers mashing the shutter buttons nonstop.
Nina Sinclair instinctively threw a hand up to block her face, but it was useless.
She could only duck behind the white curtain, letting out a slight sigh of relief.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
BANG! BANG! BANG—
Before she could even compose herself, a series of urgent knocks sounded from outside the door.
"Miss Sinclair, are you in there?"
"Miss Nina, we’re entertainment reporters from Daybreak Media. You’re in there, right? Would you mind opening the door?"
"Miss Nina, could you please open the door for an interview?"
The voices outside rose and fell, one after another. It sounded like there was a large crowd.
Nina Sinclair’s mouth fell open, her eyes fixed in terror on the peach-colored door.
