Chapter 2135: Chapter 1696: Slammed Into Darkness
When you are a presence that weighs on the entire Void and see a mantis wielding a scythe at you, what is your first reaction?
Is it shock? Dismay? Disbelief?
The Exotic Ghost currently has this feeling. Its presence causes the God Stars within the Void to dare not radiate their light, and even the supreme Branch Lord hides within the dark Material Cloud and the energy traps that twist the Void. The entire Void dims because of its presence.
For such a being, how could anyone dare swing a scythe at it, and not just one person but another trying to bind it with a Gravity Cage.
The Exotic Ghost doesn’t much care about being sliced by a mantis; what it minds is that these people dare to attack it, which is a grave offense. It decided to ignore the scythe behind it and directly crush the individual releasing the Gravity Cage in front.
Just as it opened its One Eye, a chill swept through its soul, causing it to tense and shift all its focus to the scythe behind it. This scythe gave it a feeling of extreme danger.
This was very strange. Although the opponent was an Incremental Body, and the scythe was a product of Incremental Manifestation, it shouldn’t threaten it.
Its ghostly form can now be immune to most attacks, whether energy or physical, making it difficult to harm.
Attacks that cannot cause harm are like a gentle breeze, initially trivial enough to be ignored. However, the chill shrouding its soul forced it to change tactics, dashing forward along the direction of the Gravity Cage.
The Death Scythe swung by the Monarch was only a mere ten thousand kilometers, but the Blade Aura’s coverage was over a hundred thousand kilometers. The Exotic Ghost hastily shifted positions and still got caught by the Blade Aura; a strong tearing force acted on its soul as if trying to hook it out.
The Exotic Ghost was so frightened that its soul fire flared up; it was the first time it felt the chill of death. Instinctively, it struggled, even if it meant its soul would be torn to break free.
A soul-penetrating torment exchanged for breaking free from the blades’ pull. The Exotic Ghost apprehensively glanced back at the Monarch behind, noting that the opponent’s scythe did not stop, swung high as it charged. The second Blade Aura even grew larger.
The Monarch’s second scythe contained two changes: first, the attack range of the Blade Aura increased, and second, the position was pushed forward. These simple changes extended the Monarch’s attack distance, with the second blade aura grazing the opponent’s form again.
Directly touching soul pain can’t be endured or tolerated even by powerful beings. Instead, the more potent the entity, the less they can endure such pain, because they rarely suffer injury, the pampered result of which means that their pain tolerance might not even match that of a small skeleton soldier.
An angry scream centered on the Exotic Ghost erupted outward. Although it was a scream, the essence of soul emission is a Soul Explosion.
Within any range, all souls suffered impact, even the Monarch couldn’t help but see black before his eyes.
The Exotic Ghost is a weapon aimed at Star Souls, capable of sealing them from afar; its soul strength exceeds that of a Star Soul.
Anthony Negris and the others remained unharmed. They could sense the storm in front but were sheltered by a transparent barrier that protected their souls, blocking all storms. This was Ange’s protection.
Whereas the Monarch had no Soul Contact with Ange and was directly shocked into temporary blindness.
Fortunately, the Monarch had already completed gigantification, now a giant skeleton five thousand kilometers tall, still playing with his soul as an Undead. Otherwise, this explosion would cause severe injury, if not death.
Though the Monarch briefly saw darkness, his actions did not halt. For beings of his level, brief shocks or dizziness wouldn’t interrupt their combat, and he continued swinging the scythe forward, pressing in with circles of blade aura slicing ahead.
The Exotic Ghost endured another scythe blade. Unfortunately, each time it only sliced by the blade aura; if the scythe itself hit, even the soul might be hooked.
After enduring three blades, the Exotic Ghost wised up and no longer dashed forward but flickered to the side.
The Monarch in shock couldn’t change moves, the scythe instinctively swung forward, and the subsequent attacks were all dodged by the Exotic Ghost.
Freed from the attacks, the Exotic Ghost spun around and unleashed a Soul Impact towards the Monarch.
If the Soul Explosion is a range attack, then a Soul Impact is a single-target attack, with the energy more concentrated.
But when the Soul Impact hit the Monarch, it was like using the Flash Technique on a blind person, fruitless. The Monarch wielded the scythe densely at his sides, steamrolling ahead.
Anthony perked up: "Soul Seal?"
Facing a stronger soul, how to withstand its soul impact? Simple, seal your own soul.
Of course, sealing the soul means seeing nothing. But after already enduring a Soul Explosion, the Monarch was temporarily blinded already, so sealing caused no further loss—it’s like closing your eyes when already blind.
With the soul sealed, all moves and actions are pre-set. A few seconds later, the soul seal was lifted, and the Monarch’s thoughts scanned the entire scene, immediately locating the Exotic Ghost’s position, twisting his body sharply, and swung the scythe flying to slash.
However, just at the instant of twisting and wielding, the Soul Flame in his eye sockets extinguished instantly, bravely entering the Soul Seal state again.
This combat method is akin to opening eyes to spot the enemy and then closing them to strike blindly, demanding high prediction skills.
Yet it was the most suitable fighting style for the Monarch at present. Facing the Exotic Ghost, his only shortcoming was soul strength; not even the strongest soul could compare against the Exotic Ghost that destroys Star Souls.
However, his body was indestructible, even the internal pressure within the Giant God Star couldn’t cause a single scratch.
Just guard the soul like a Heavy Armor Shield Warrior covering his crotch, ready to rush madly.
Using this method of glancing with open eyes, then chaining strikes with closed ones, the Monarch chased the Exotic Ghost left and right, ragged. It tried to attack the Monarch physically, but the Shadow Blade struck the Monarch’s Star Bones, not even sparking.
At this moment, the best option was to distance and break through the opponent’s defense with the strongest attack. But it was bound by Ange’s Gravity Cage, and moving towards Ange’s direction was doubly fast, yet exceptionally slow trying to move away.
No matter how it evaded, it moved ever closer to Ange, and with Monarch’s constraint, it couldn’t free a hand to escape the cage.
Realizing this, the Exotic Ghost no longer evaded axe strikes, turning and using the gravitational pull to rush toward Ange, its mind locked tightly on Ange—Soul Impact.
If the Soul Impact couldn’t smash the self-sealing retreating skeleton, perhaps smashing this one might.
However, as soon as its Soul Impact fell on Ange, multiple massive God Star phantasms manifested behind Ange, making its Soul Impact seem like it struck the Abyss Core, blinding it instantly.
