Chapter 1351: 1350 is too harsh
Fang Zhiwei glared at Lu Zhiyan angrily.
She thought he had gone too far.
Lu Zhiyan seemed unfazed by her anger. Instead, he raised one sharp eyebrow and said with certainty, “Because whatever you’re thinking is written all over your face.”
Before Fang Zhiwei could explode, he added, “Miss Fang, if I were you, I’d also have doubts. This isn’t some shameful thing—why are you afraid to admit it? You like Gu Kai, but Gu Kai doesn’t like you, and you can’t accept that.”
“You…”
Fang Zhiwei’s face turned pale with anger.
She hadn’t expected Lu Zhiyan to be this kind of person. She clenched her teeth, suppressing the fury in her heart as she stood up to leave.
“Miss Fang, just because I guessed your secret, you’re going to leave without eating?”
Lu Zhiyan narrowed his eyes, his gaze locking onto Fang Zhiwei.
Fang Zhiwei had just lifted her foot when she heard his words. She turned her head and said icily, “I don’t want to have dinner with someone so rude.”
Calling him rude was putting it lightly. What she really wanted to say was that she didn’t want to eat with someone completely uncouth.
“Fine, then before you leave, let me give you one last piece of unsolicited advice. Gu Kai isn’t your type. Don’t test a man’s limits. If you don’t want to destroy the last bit of respect he has for you, stop finding excuses to see him.”
“What does whether I see Gu Kai or not have to do with you? Don’t tell me Gu Kai asked you to relay this message!” Fang Zhiwei’s face alternated between green and white, each word bitten out through gritted teeth.
Lu Zhiyan chuckled. “Of course not. It’s my own opinion. Because I’m a man, I understand a man’s boundaries. Gu Kai still treats you as a friend. But sure, you can take my words as nonsense. Just don’t regret it when Gu Kai starts hating you.”
He glanced at his watch and stood up. “It’s already past six-thirty. That unreliable guy Gu Kai—I’m not waiting for him any longer. It just so happens that Miss Fang, you don’t like seeing me. You stay here and wait for Gu Kai; I’ll leave.”
Fang Zhiwei felt a bit dizzy after hearing his stream of words.
“You probably don’t want me around to ruin your one-on-one time either. I don’t like being annoying. Miss Fang, when Gu Kai arrives, tell him I had an assignment and had to leave.”
Lu Zhiyan didn’t care what Fang Zhiwei thought. He simply said what he wanted, not bothering to seek anyone else’s approval — a typical alpha male.
Because once he finished speaking, he really left.

That evening, around eight o’clock, Bai Yiyi bathed Tongtong. As per Tongtong’s request, she wrapped her in a towel and carried her out.
When she saw Gu Kai sitting on the edge of the bed, she asked in astonishment, “Why are you here?”
“Daddy!”
Unlike Bai Yiyi’s shock, Tongtong was overjoyed. Her little face lit up with a big smile, and she stretched out her arms, wanting Gu Kai to hold her.
Gu Kai strode over, took Tongtong from Bai Yiyi’s arms, and placed her on the bed. After standing on the bed, Tongtong asked with a beaming smile, “Daddy, is Tongtong pretty?”
“You’re beautiful. My Tongtong is a little beauty, a clever and adorable little beauty. When you grow up, you’ll be a big beauty.”
Flattered by Gu Kai’s words, Tongtong giggled uncontrollably. She pushed away Gu Kai’s hands and spun in a circle. As her body swayed unsteadily, Gu Kai quickly reached out to steady her.
“Tongtong, be careful not to spin your towel off,” Bai Yiyi joked with a laugh.
Upon hearing this, Tongtong hastily held onto her towel, laughing, “Shy, shy!”
“Tongtong knows how to feel shy now! Then why aren’t you wearing pajamas?” Gu Kai teased, pretending to reach out to pull her towel. Tongtong immediately stepped back, clutching her towel with both hands. “Daddy, you’re bad.”
“Tongtong, how about we wear pajamas? Once you wear them, Daddy won’t be able to pull it off,” Bai Yiyi said smilingly, nudging Gu Kai aside. She handed Tongtong her pajamas and then turned to Gu Kai. “You go out first. Tongtong needs to change.”
“Daddy, go out.”
“You let me bathe you just a few days ago,” Gu Kai complained. Tongtong was only two years old, still so little.
“That was a few days ago. Tongtong grows up a little every day. Boys and girls are different, right Tongtong?”
“Yes, different.”
Tongtong nodded emphatically.
Gu Kai raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. “Fine, I’ll go out. Tongtong, call Daddy when you’re done changing.”
“Okay.”
Gu Kai left the room and closed the door behind him. Tongtong immediately asked Bai Yiyi to unwrap her towel, and she quickly put on her pajamas herself.
Once dressed, Tongtong shouted loudly toward the door, “Daddy!”
The door opened. Gu Kai came in from outside and said to Bai Yiyi, “Yiyi, can you make me something to eat? I’ll tell Tongtong a story and help her sleep.”
“You haven’t eaten?”
Bai Yiyi blinked at him in surprise.
Gu Kai smiled faintly. “I was supposed to have dinner with Lu Zhiyan at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, but just before leaving work, I had to handle an emergency case, which delayed me. Later, Fang Zhiwei called to say that Lu Zhiyan had left and that she also had something urgent, so there was no need for me to go.”
“So, did Lu Zhiyan explain everything clearly to Fang Zhiwei?” Bai Yiyi asked, puzzled.
Gu Kai sat on the edge of the bed, picked up a fairy tale book from the bedside table, and flipped through it to decide which story to tell that night. “I’ll explain it to you in detail later. For now, can you make me some noodles? Don’t forget to add meat.”
“We don’t have any meat in the house.”
Bai Yiyi frowned in irritation. This man was such a carnivore; could he not survive one meal without meat?
“Impossible.” Gu Kai suddenly seemed to realize something, snapped his fingers, took out his wallet, and handed her a hundred-yuan bill. “Cook according to this hundred-yuan note.”
“One hundred yuan, and you think that’ll get you meat?”
Bai Yiyi pouted but still took the bill.
“Whatever,” Gu Kai said without arguing. “You can make me whatever you think one hundred yuan can buy. Deal?”
Bai Yiyi raised an eyebrow, put the bill away, and strutted out of the room with a spring in her step.
Gu Kai watched her retreating back, a smirk playing on his lips. He thought to himself, maybe he should stock up on groceries tomorrow.
After all, he was planning to freeload meals here often in the future.
He wasn’t afraid of Bai Yiyi charging him a lot. What he really feared was her charging him a lot but not cooking anything good for him. That would be a huge loss.
And the things you’re most afraid of often turn out to be true.
Forty minutes later, when Gu Kai went downstairs and saw the dinner Bai Yiyi had prepared for him, his fear became a reality.
“Bai Yiyi, don’t you think this is a bit much?”
Gu Kai stared in disbelief at the dinner in front of him.
A hundred yuan should have been enough for a bowl of shredded pork noodles, right? But look at this… What did he get for his money? Plain noodles.
No, no, not even a bowl—it was one single bite!
