First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 3144 - What It Means to Split the Heavens

  • Next Chapter

The one who sensed Su Yi’s slash most directly was Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang.

His gaze focused, and he waved his sleeve. The Sevendeaths Golden Platform shot forth, rumbling and booming as it stirred up enough tyrannical divine majesty to destroy the Daos of the heavens.

Boom!

The Sevendeaths Golden Platform shook violently. Although it managed to block Su Yi’s strike, Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang felt the impact. He staggered on his feet, his expression shifting. He isn’t just ‘strong enough to contend with Heavenly Sovereigns.’ He’s no different from a true Heavenly Sovereign!

But before Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang could give the matter any further thought, Su Yi swung his sword and attacked again.

His wooden sword rumbled like thunder, scattering sword light that illuminated the entire dome of heaven—as well as Su Yi’s tall, grand, prideful figure.

His force and momentum were overwhelming. They were far beyond the onlookers’ imagination.

The other Heavenly Sovereigns no longer hesitated. All of them attacked immediately, joining forces to suppress Su Yi.

Boom!

Heavenly Sovereign E waved his sleeves, and a black saber shot forth, stirring up countless pitch-black talisman markings.

Dense, terrifying, calamitous power interwove over the saber. When its slash flew forth, it was like the descent of a cataclysm.

Heavenly Sovereign E’s Grand Dao was actually rather similar to that of the Monarch of Endless Tribulations. Both wielded the power of calamity.

The difference was that Heavenly Sovereign E had the “Dao Calamity Eternal Throne,” which specifically targeted cultivators’ powers of the Grand Dao.

It could trigger the negative karma accumulated within someone’s cultivation base!

Any cultivator who contemplated and mastered powers of the Grand Dao was inevitably stained with negative karma. The lucky merely had to clear the occasional dust off their Dao Hearts, while the unfortunate lost themselves to obsession.

Jiang Wuchen’s heart devil, the Malevolent Sword Venerate, was the product of such negative karma.

Heavenly Sovereign E’s power of the Dao Calamity targeted this accumulated negative karma.

Meanwhile, Heavenly Sovereign Wen took out a jade ruler. The name “Huangting” was carved on its base, and when he struck, it was as if Huangting Grotto were bearing down on the heavens, its power immeasurably vast and dense.

Heavenly Sovereign Ling gripped a blue spear, its sharp tip glowing like divine flames. When he swung it, it seemed to stir up the river of time, sever space, and pierce everything in its path with unstoppable force.

The Burning Heavens Spear!

This was a Heavenly Sovereign-level weapon. Combined with Heavenly Sovereign Ling’s Eternal Throne, it could erupt with power beyond imagination.

Heavenly Sovereigns Changhen and Wuxu attacked, too. They took out a Daoist seal and talisman, respectively.

The seal was ancient, its surface carved with intricate, dark red markings. It rose into the sky, manifesting a towering gateway.

As if he’d opened heaven’s gate!

A flood of chaos power flowed out of it, mysterious and unfathomable.

The Seal of the Southern Heavens!

This, too, was a Heavenly Sovereign-level treasure. It could manifest the Southern Heavens World Gate, sever yin and yang, determine life and death, and shatter the five elements.

When suppressed, life and death were determined in an instant.

Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu’s talisman wasn’t simple either. It was called the Lightning Court. It was where all lightning arose, and thus, it ruled over all lightning.

There was the refined source of a chaos lightning pool within the talisman. When it landed, it was like tribulation lightning descending from the night heavens with the utmost destructive power.

Five Heavenly Sovereigns attacked together. All was calm until they attacked, but when they did, they drew their weapons and attacked with full force!

Boom——!

It was like an explosion went off beneath the dome of heaven. Firelight swept through the air, and divine radiance rumbled and boomed. Apocalyptic visions of calamity manifested throughout the skies of the Unfettered Continent.

The other continents were affected, too. Unsettling phenomena of the Grand Dao were visible throughout the Eternal Heavens Domain.

This was the power of a Heavenly Sovereign. Each was like an incarnation of Heaven’s Will.

When they attacked together, it was as if they were acting on behalf of the heavens. Their powers of the Grand Dao resonated with the Laws, influencing the entire Eternal Heavens Domain.

Had such a grand battle taken place closer to the ground, it would have been a catastrophe for the entire Unfettered Continent.

Heavenly Sovereigns Ku Xuan and Qingyi watched with unprecedented solemnity. They couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf.

They would never have dared fight so many Heavenly Sovereigns alone.

Ruo Su was still brewing tea in the skies over Divine Reverence Pavilion, but now, her jade-like hand paused, and her delicate brow furrowed.

This was a battle to the death. She couldn’t criticize the Heavenly Sovereigns for joining forces to bully Su Yi with their advantage in numbers. Still, this situation was ultimately far too disadvantageous to Su Yi.

The countless cultivators gathered far beyond Snowy Gale Mountain had come here to watch the battle, but now, much to their horror, they realized that their cultivation was simply inadequate; they couldn’t see any details at all.

That wasn’t all. The terrifying, calamitous visions manifesting overhead presented a massive threat. Their hearts quivered in their chests, their souls shook, and even when they circulated their entire cultivation bases, they couldn’t suppress their terror.

It was like facing a divine tribulation!

Those onlookers of lower cultivation were so overcome at the sight of the strange phenomena overhead that they toppled over unconscious.

“How terrifying!”

“This... this is a battle between Heavenly Sovereigns?”

Countless cries of alarm arose throughout the crowd, full of terror, astonishment, and panic.

Battles between Heavenly Sovereigns were rare. The masses’ perception of Heavenly Sovereigns was based almost entirely on ancient records and legends.

Actually being here to witness their power was something else entirely. Every onlooker with a cultivation base below Heavenly Sovereign was horrified to discover the battle was far more terrifying than they’d anticipated.

Many of them were already starting to flee. “Retreat! Hurry up and retreat!”

“Hurry! Staying alive comes first. If your Dao Heart is destroyed, you’ll be doomed!”

Some of the older, shrewder cultivators among them turned to leave. They weren’t stopping at simply moving further away; they knew better than to even think of staying to watch such a battle.

Never mind the rest. The strange phenomena overhead were enough to destroy their Dao Hearts.

Who’d dare try to watch the battle under those circumstances?

Some of the younger cultivators refused to believe it. They wanted to use the terrifying, calamitous aura to temper their Dao Hearts.

But it wasn’t long before they hit their limit, their Dao Hearts on the verge of cracking, leaving them no choice but to slink away.

The area where the onlookers had gathered, far from the slopes of Snowy Gale Mountain, was now a mess of fleeing spectators and startled cries. Everything was in chaos.

The Secluded Ones watching from the darkness were naturally different from the ordinary spectators. They could see the battle raging overhead in full detail.

Many of them grinned when they saw the Heavenly Sovereigns draw their treasures and attack in unison. Yes, that’s the way to kill your enemies!

This is a battle to the death. There’s no need to worry about elegance or deportment. You should just strike with unstoppable force and eradicate your enemies!

From their perspective, Su Yi was now in grave peril. The Heavenly Sovereigns’ attacks had suppressed his momentum, and he was surrounded on all sides.

He was attacking, but his slashes were ground away one by one, unable to damage his opponents.

“Hah! This is what happens to those who overestimate themselves. They bring about their own demise!” a Secluded One said coldly. “Did he really think he’s still the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City? Did he really think he’d be invincible the moment he took his sword in hand?”

Someone else shook his head. “He really shouldn’t have done this. Strength like that is at most enough to fight a Heavenly Sovereign one-on-one.”

Another argued, “What’s with all that talk of one-on-one combat? This is no clash of the Grand Dao. This is a battle to the death! And don’t forget that Su Yi hasn’t used any of his hidden trump cards yet.”

Many of the Secluded Ones frowned. It’s true. Su Yi still has the Book of Destiny, the Cauldron of Fate, and several other taboo treasures he’s yet to use.

As they conversed, Old Lord Gouchen suddenly broke his silence. “Eh?”

Practically simultaneously, something unexpected happened beneath the distant skies.

It had seemed that Su Yi was surrounded on all sides, relentlessly suppressed, and in grave peril, but now, his whole body erupted with indescribable power. Moreover, it kept rising!

Even his presence underwent a startling transformation!

Before the fighting began, he had no aura to speak of. It was as if he were an ordinary mortal.

It was only when the battle started that he revealed strength comparable to a Heavenly Sovereign and forced the crowd to reconsider their initial assessment of him.

Now, his strength underwent yet another shift. Every last inch of his skin flowed with sword intent like the primordial chaos itself.

Within his body, shackles long covered in dust seemed to shatter. His powers of the Grand Dao surged forth, like a river bursting through a dam. With every breath he took, ten thousand Daos wavered. Wind howled, and thunder rumbled!

Most shocking of all, all manner of unbelievable phenomena of the Grand Dao appeared behind him, reflected on the firmament. They suppressed even the Laws of the Unfettered Continent!

The cycle of reincarnation played out overhead, and Profound Ruin shifted in the sky.

Various alternations of the Grand Dao reflected a towering tree. Every leaf was like a nascent epoch civilization, but they were densely packed, so numerous that there seemed no end to them.

What’s this? The Secluded Ones were stunned, but when they tried to investigate further, they discovered that their divine senses weren’t enough to see through the mysteries of Su Yi’s powers of the Dao.

The Heavenly Sovereigns were paying attention to this change, too. Their eyebrows twitched, and waves coursed through their hearts. Don’t tell me... he was hiding his true strength this entire time?

The Heavenly Sovereigns were shrewd and experienced. They didn’t waste any time thinking. Instead, they did everything in their power to put pressure on Su Yi.

Each had greater murderous intent than the one before. They unleashed their divine abilities without holding anything back!

That was especially true of the Threelives Buddha. He took out a purple scepter with Sanskrit sutras floating above its tip.

When he attacked, the purple scepter stirred up a wave of golden sutras. Every word was the size of a fist, but they struck with unstoppable force. It seemed there was nothing their miraculous power could not suppress.

They presented the greatest threat to Su Yi.

But then, Su Yi just chuckled, and his wooden sword produced a heaven-shaking rumble. It was as if a sudden thunderclap were booming throughout the skies of the Unfettered Continent, startling all living beings.

The continent’s innumerable inhabitants shuddered in unison.

Beneath the distant dome of heaven, as this astonishing sword hum rang out, Su Yi swung his sword and attacked.

When a brave general of the mortal world marched into battle, he could sweep through an army of thousands.

Now, when Su Yi swung his sword, his slash seemed to sweep through the very dome of heaven itself with unstoppable momentum.

Wherever his sword pointed, a Heavenly Sovereign was forced back, his screams shaking the heavens.

That tyrannical sword qi forced the Heavenly Sovereigns back, one after another.

In the end, a massive chasm tore open; even the power of the Laws gave way. It was like an enormous, shocking wound in the firmament.

He’d truly split the heavens!
