First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2677 - Breaking Through, Three Steps, a Tap

Chapter 2677 – Breaking Through, Three Steps, a Tap

A thousand miles away, Di E’s expression darkened, and his brow furrowed.

He was certain that his spear swathed in calamitous power was strong enough to obliterate any Unfettered Realm cultivator around. Even those unsurpassed within their level should have at least taken heavy injuries.

And Su Yi was badly injured to begin with, and still unsteady on his feet. Given the circumstances, he should have been doomed beyond a doubt.

Yet now, all he’d done was raise his hand, and he’d somehow blocked Di E’s attack.

The spear shattered, erupting with calamitous power, but it still couldn’t even scratch Su Yi!

The Dipankara Buddha had been forced several hundred feet back. His hands were bleeding, his wrists in agony and on the verge of shattering.

But his wounds weren’t at all serious. They were nothing to be concerned about.

What really surprised him was that Su Yi, despite being badly injured and seemingly certain to lose, had somehow forced him back in a single punch. He’d even injured him!

Meanwhile, blood flowed from the corners of Lu Shi’s mouth, and his face paled. He, too, had suffered the impact. He hadn’t had time to dodge, and his wounds weren’t at all light!

A look of astonishment arose on his face, as if he found this hard to believe.

The crowd watched in a dazed silence. They’d all thought that Su Yi was sure to die; they could already picture that spear running him through.

Who could have imagined that he’d turn things around at a critical juncture?

“Interesting.” Xiao Jian’s eyes flashed. He silently tightened his grip on the scroll, and the mysterious power awakening within it went dormant once more.

Meanwhile, at the base of Five Elements Peak, those watching from the shadows were stunned, too. They silently conversed amongst themselves.

“He proved his Dao?”

“Sure seems like it.”

“But how is that possible?”

“It’s only by doing the unthinkable that you defy expectations. This is how the boss’s reincarnation ought to be.”

Meanwhile, on the peak, all eyes converged on Su Yi.

His blue robes were stained red, and he was heavily wounded. His long hair hung loose, and his face was deathly pale.

Mysterious power surged around him, rising like steam. It boomed like thunder and erupted like a volcano. Su Yi’s imposing presence soared explosively.

Like a river rising after the rain!

The sight astonished countless people.

“He broke through?” someone couldn’t help but murmur.

“Impossible!” someone shouted. “The aura of the River of Destiny has been completely obscured. There’s no way to break through here. Why even speak of it?”

Boom!

Meanwhile, Di E attacked. He took a step forward and appeared beside Su Yi, calamitous power condensing into an enormous lightning pool between his hands.

It descended ruthlessly upon Su Yi, even more terrifying than the spear.

But Su Yi blocked the descending lightning pool with a gesture.

The pool rumbled and boomed. Calamitous lightning poured out of it, but Su Yi’s hand was like a wall. With it blocking the electricity, none of its power could shake him.

Di E’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. Countless inscrutable glyphs surged within the lightning pool, and its power instantly soared.

Even so, it still couldn’t shake Su Yi!

Everyone felt as if they were witnessing an unbelievable miracle.

The lightning pool rose, and lightning came crashing down, shining with calamitous glyphs, like a descending river of stars.

But Su Yi blocked it onehanded!

His hand was like an insurmountable barrier. None could shake it!

“You’re too late,” whispered Su Yi.

Di E’s pupils constricted.

Boom!

Su Yi’s palm erupted with power, and the lightning pool split. Its calamitous power swept in reverse, sending Di E flying. He hurtled thousands of feet before finally steadying himself.

A deathly silence descended over the area.

The Dipankara Buddha and Lu Shi had been about to attack, but now, both of them were stunned.

An avalanche of terrifying power surged over Su Yi, its force and momentum rapidly growing!

Upon closer inspection, his grievous wounds had all knit back together, and his essence, qi, and spirit were recondensing as if undergoing tempering in a furnace!

“You broke through? If so, it’d be truly unbelievable,” murmured the Dipankara Buddha.

It was indeed unbelievable.

There were so many Eternals present. Who here didn’t understand what it took to become Eternal?

First, you had to seize an opportunity.

Second, you had to weather your Eternal Tribulation.

Third, you had to establish Eternal Foundations on the River of Destiny!

But now, all opportunities had been sealed off. There’d been no sign of an Eternal Tribulation, and Su Yi was on the Five Elements Altar the whole time. He’d in no way gotten the chance to visit the River of Destiny.

How could he possibly have broken through?

Everyone was baffled. They found the whole thing hard to accept.

“He really did break through,” Di E said with a glower. “I can sense it. His powers of the Grand Dao are transforming and becoming Eternal!”

He, too, spoke with bewilderment.

“So what if he broke through? All I know is that he’s currently undergoing a critical transformation. If we let him succeed…” Lu Shi said gravely. “…all of our plans will fail at the last step!”

The three of them exchanged glances, then attacked without hesitation.

“Go!” Di E’s clothing billowed around him as he raised his hand.

Boom! Boom!

Calamitous power condensed into a black sun and erupted with endless calamitous light.

This attack was far too terrifying. Even the onlookers shuddered at the sight of it, feeling as if they’d been plunged into an icy abyss.

They didn’t even need to think to know that this was Di E’s killer weapon. He was no longer holding back.

“The past is a guide, fate a blade,” said the Dipankara Buddha, clasping his palms.

His thin frame suddenly transformed. He was now the very picture of a grand, immeasurable Buddha, glowing with endless light. Buddhist flames burned around him, and Sanskrit chanting rumbled like fire.

A monk’s saber formed in midair.

It was far too dazzling and resplendent, with immeasurable sharpness. The inscrutable aura of destiny hovered around the blade, and even just gazing upon it from afar was enough to make the onlookers’ hearts palpitate. They felt like prisoners awaiting divine punishment!

Even the Five Elements Altar shook violently, its chaos source power churning.

“To me, o sword!” Lu Shi bellowed. His essence, qi, and spirit burned, repeatedly condensing. In the end, a sword condensed over his head.

His sword force expanded continuously, rapidly depleting his cultivation base.

Within moments, Lu Shi’s face was deathly pale, as if beset by grave illness. Even his eyes dimmed.

But the aura of the sword hovering over his head had reached unbelievable heights. Even just its sword light was so intense that the crowd’s hearts shook.

Su Yi saw it all, but his expression never so much as shifted.

Just as everyone had guessed, he’d broken through!

His Undying Realm cultivation base had long since been tempered to perfection. Earlier, when his life hung in the balance, he finally managed to break through the barriers in his path.

It was as if he’d kicked open the gates to Eternity, breaking through!

This transformation overturned heaven and earth, starting within him and extending outward. His body, cultivation base, soul, and heart… all of them rose from the Undying Realm and into Eternity!

His path to his breakthrough was indeed highly unusual. He hadn’t found any opportunities to prove his Dao, nor had he invited an Eternal Tribulation.

But this was his Grand Dap.

He’d sought the Dao within himself, and manifested his own destiny!

He’d used his body as a seed, tempering his Dao in his three stages of the Undying Realm, to create an Eternal Dao unlike anything else in history!

Unfortunately, Su Yi didn’t get the chance to calmly sense his changes, nor could he contemplate the mysteries of his breakthrough.

He was still undergoing metamorphosis, but he had to kill his enemies before he did anything else!

Boom——!

That dark, calamitous sun descended, and the “Blade of Fate” glittered and vanished into thin air.

Lu Shi waved his hand, and the sword hovering overhead finished gathering power and shot forth explosively.

He called it “No Return”, as it wouldn’t return until his enemy was dead!

Three terrifying killer weapons shot forth at once, all of them unparalleled, and all of them capable of taking down just about any expert of the same level.

Even ordinary experts of the Divine Wandering Realm couldn’t have withstood these attacks. Each was mighty enough to cross cultivation levels to kill superior opponents!

It was then that Su Yi finally took action. He raised his foot and stepped forward.

As he took a step forward, endless sword intent surged around him, as deep as an abyss.

The blazing sun instantly froze mid-descent, as if trapped by some invisible power. It could advance no further.

Di E’s expression shifted. He poured the full extent of his cultivation base into the blazing sun, but it was to no avail. He couldn’t even struggle.

With his second step, Su Yi’s sword intent blazed like a furnace, surging explosively, rumbling, and booming. Everything within ten thousand feet was sealed in place with him at its center.

The monk’s saber was within range, and it was instantly locked in place, its edge trembling and its wails shaking the nine heavens.

The Dipankara Buddha’s pupils constricted as his lips started moving. He was chanting sutras, the Sanskrit booming through the searing Buddhist flames. All of this power fused into the “Blade of Fate.”

But this, too, was to no avail!

Everything within that ten-thousand-foot radius was completely frozen in place.

When Su Yi took his third step, his brow, every strand of hair, and every pore surged with dense, inscrutable sword intent, as if he’d been enveloped in formless sword intent. He seemed immeasurably grand.

Lu Shi’s sword instantly slowed, as if stuck in the mud. Its speed sharply decreased, but more than that, it staggered as if drunk.

Its power was rapidly frittered away!

Lu Shi swayed on his feet, shocked and furious.

After taking this third step, Su Yi abruptly stopped in place.

An unbelievable scene appeared on the Five Elements Altar. Everything was frozen in place. All three terrifying killer weapons—the blazing black sun, the Blade of Fate, and the Sword of No Returns—just hovered there.

Endless sword force enveloped everything within ten thousand feet of Su Yi. He was like an all-powerful ruler suppressing everything around him!

The sight astonished countless onlookers. They fell completely into a daze.

Even Xiao Jian’s heart swelled with emotion, and his eyes lit up.

“It’s time to end this,” said Su Yi. He raised his right hand and gently tapped the air.

It was just a casual tap, but this light, airy gesture broke the ten thousand feet of stillness.

The black sun exploded.

The Blade of Fate split in two.

The Sword of No Return shattered, inch by inch.

Three supreme, unparalleled killer weapons broke on impact, shattered like porcelain before countless astonished gazes.

Di E hacked up blood and convulsed as if having a seizure.

The Dipankara Buddha let out a muffled grunt and staggered ten steps back, as if he’d been struck by lightning.

Lu Shi flew back like a projectile struck by a hammer. He slammed into the invisible barrier around the Five Elements Altar, creating a transparent, human-shaped imprint.
