First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2676 - Turning the Situation on Its Head

Chapter 2676 – Turning the Situation on Its Head

Boom!

The entire Five Elements Altar shook. The chaos power covering it surged forth, blocking the flood of terrifying destructive power.

Buddhist chanting rumbled and boomed, and Buddhist flames swept outward.

Calamitous power swept forth like an avalanche, manifesting apocalyptic visions.

Sword qi criss-crossed, snow-white, sharp, and clanging.

Countless markings burned, unleashing immeasurable power.

In an instant, the entire thirty-thousand-foot platform was completely covered in several types of dazzling divine radiance.

The onlookers’ eyes stung, and their expressions shifted. Despite their lofty cultivation bases, they couldn’t see the battle clearly.

Only Xiao Jian narrowed his eyes and watched attentively between sips of wine. He didn’t say a word.

He could sense that Di E launched himself at Su Yi the moment the chaotic battle began, while the Dipankara Buddha and Lu Shi targeted Wang Zhiwu.

Su Yi and Wang Zhiwu, meanwhile, shifted positions to attack Lu Shi.

It was far too chaotic. It seemed everyone was after something different. They were all after different people, and they were all restricting each other’s movements. The battle was utterly chaotic right from the start.

Three snaps of the fingers later…

Kaboom!

A massive impact rang out, and the dazzling divine radiance blanketing the Five Elements Altar was swept away, seemingly scattered to the wind.

Su Yi returned to his original position, a bloody gash on his shoulder. Di E had injured him.

The Dipankara Buddha and Di E were entirely unharmed.

Wang Zhiwu was the most badly injured of all. HIs skin was charred black in numerous places, a startling sight. This was the work of the Dipankara Buddha’s flames.

Although Wang Zhiwu had won in the second round, he’d taken heavy injuries. They’d yet to heal by the time the third round began.

That was why he was already at such a disadvantage.

“Dammit. It seems I’m the most useless in the group,” he grumbled.

“Monk, go kill Su Yi with Lu Shi while I slaughter Wang Zhiwu,” Di E said coldly.

They’d all been holding each other back, so he felt stifled and frustrated at every turn.

Boom!

His voice had only just rung out when he vanished and charged at Wang Zhiwu. His calamitous aura surged around him like an endless, grand ocean, terrifying to the extremes.

His reasons for targeting Wang Zhiwu were simple. Earlier, Wang Zhiwu had brazenly said he’d smack him every time he saw him.

Di E was naturally all too happy to seize this opportunity to eradicate Wang Zhiwu’s clone.

Meanwhile, Lu Shi and the Dipankara Buddha attacked Su Yi.

Lu Shi launched a downpour of sword rain, dense and imposing.

The Dipankara Buddha formed hand seals, and a nine-story treasure tower floated into the air, erupting with endless radiance.

Both targeted Wang Zhiwu. There was no doubt about it. They wanted to deal with Wang Zhiwu first, then deal with Su Yi.

“Activate!” Su Yi charged directly into the fray, endless sword force erupting around his tall, upright frame.

His sheer momentum was enough to block the furious downpour of sword rain.

Meanwhile, his fist slammed into the descending treasure tower with a bang.

The tower shook, then shattered.

But Su Yi was sent flaying back, blood gushing from the corners of his mouth!

He couldn’t help but find this surprising. The old bald donkey is seriously this powerful?

Earlier, in the first round of the Battle for Order, the Dipankara Buddha slew four opponents with ease, just by uttering a few words.

In the second round, all four of his opponents immediately admitted defeat.

Di E had performed roughly similarly.

Thus, Su Yi still had no idea just how strong he and the Dipankara Buddha really were.

Now that they’d clashed, Su Yi finally realized just how terrifying his old enemy the Dipankara Buddha had become!

But before Su Yi could give the matter any further thought, the sword rain he’d blocked earlier came crashing down.

The Dipankara Buddha’s steps were light and airy as his hands formed seals and he launched an attack at Su Yi.

“Break!” Su Yi leaped through the air, swung his sleeve, and attacked. The downpour of sword rain scattered, but when he and the Dipankara Buddha clashed, he was forced back once more. His face paled.

The old bald donkey is strong enough to overwhelm others of the same level, thought Su Yi. In that regard, he’s just like Xiao Jian.

But Su Yi didn’t lose heart. On the contrary, he let out a burst of laughter and attacked once more.

Kaboom!

Heaven and earth dimmed. Divine radiance swept outward.

In the blink of an eye, the battle entered its most dangerous, brutal stage.

Lu Shi and the Dipankara Buddha had joined forces to push Su Yi back. His injuries were piling on, and his blue robes were stained with blood.

But Wang Zhiwu was even more wretched. He was fighting Di E, but he couldn’t hold his own at all. His wounds were rapidly piling on, and his body would soon break beneath the pressure.

The crowd watched with bated breath, eyes wide open, but the vast majority of the crowd couldn’t see the details clearly.

This battle was just too unbelievable. Everyone’s powers and divine abilities were terrifying beyond measure, leading to numerous unexpected developments.

The entire Five Elements Altar was like a sea of boiling lava, full of currents of destructive power.

Xiao Jian stood there, brow furrowed.

Su Yi’s Heart Soul could threaten the Dipankara Buddha in theory, but it would be difficult to put that into practice.

It wasn’t because of a problem with the Heart Soul. Su Yi just wasn’t strong enough. He was roughly comparable to a mid-stage Unfettered Realm Eternal.

While the Dipankara Buddha was strong enough to suppress just about everyone in the Unfettered Realm!

Lu Shi was quite strong too, although he was still a notch inferior.

How will Su Yi win if his Heart Soul isn’t enough to close the gap? Xiao Jian’s frown deepened.

You couldn’t use external treasures on the Five Elements Altar, nor could you borrow external power!

And the old-timers watching from the River of Destiny had obscured and blocked off opportunities to prove one’s Dao and enter Eternity. There was no way Su Yi could break through mid-battle!

Su Yi’s situation seemed utterly precarious!

He was bold enough to come here, so I’m sure he has other cards up his sleeves. I’ll just have to wait a while longer, thought Xiao Jian.

He most certainly didn’t want Su Yi to die mid battle!

Suddenly, something unexpected happened on the Five Elements Altar——

Wang Zhiwu had already been pushed to the limit of endurance. He suddenly called out, “Su Yi, I’ll be leaving first! You’ve got to handle the rest yourself. I hope you kill them all!”

He’d only just said this when he erupted with monstrous firelight that condensed into a strange, ancient glyph in midair.

The glyph wriggled as if alive, then swallowed Wang Zhiwu whole.

Then, it turned and slammed into Di E!

There was no doubt about it. Wang Zhiwu was aiming for mutual destruction!

“Boring.” Di E snorted coldly. He’d long since been prepared for this. There was no way he’d let Wang Zhiwu succeed.

Practically the moment Wang Zhiwu destroyed his clone, Di E moved further away and stretched out his hand, creating a barrier around himself.

But within moments, the barrier split, then caught ablaze. That strange glyph was shooting toward him explosively.

Di E’s expression shifted. He’d underestimated how terrifying the glyph was!

But there was no time to give the matter any further thought. Di E’s voice boomed like spring thunder as his hands formed seals in the air.

A black page, almost like a talisman, condensed in front of him, blocking the strange glyph.

Boom!!!

A heaven-shaking impact rang out.

Di E was sent flying back. He slammed into the invisible barrier surrounding the platform, hard, and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

He’d successfully blocked Wang Zhiwu’s attempt at mutual destruction, but he was injured in the process.

And not lightly at that!

This was outside of the crowd’s expectations. Everyone was astonished.

Meanwhile, Su Yi was still locked in fierce combat. When he saw this, he said inwardly, I appreciate your good intentions. Next time we meet, I’ll treat you to a drink.

Even before they’d set foot on Red Pine Mountain, Wang Zhiwu said he was betting on Su YI’s victory!

And on the way here, Wang Zhiwu rebuked Di E and argued with Yu Chiyang. Now, he’d even self-destructed and injured Di E.

How could Su Yi possibly fail to realize Wang Zhiwu’s intentions?

The moment Wang Zhiwu bet on Su Yi’s victory, he’d effectively declared himself Su Yi’s ally!

Su Yi had no idea why Wang Zhiwu would do such a thing. Still, he acknowledged everything Wang Zhiwu had done for him!

Boom——

After yet another fierce clash, Su Yi was once more forced back. Numerous new gashes appeared all over his body.

All were the result of Lu Shi’s opportunistic strikes.

He and the Dipankara Buddha were working together, but their cooperation wasn’t seamless, nor did they have any teamwork to speak of.

They just attacked relentlessly at every turn, striking to kill every time. They had no intention of letting him catch his breath.

By now, Su Yi was badly injured!

The onlookers’ hearts shook. Even Xiao Jian had put his wine away; he was no longer in the mood to drink.

Now that Wang Zhiwu had been defeated, Su Yi’s situation was unquestionably even more perilous. Anyone would have despaired on his behalf.

“Let’s kill him first, then fight amongst ourselves!” Di E approached, his aura terrifying.

“Excellent!” The Dipankara Buddha nodded.

“I naturally have no objections,” Lu Shi said with a smile.

Boom!

Di E attacked, producing a spear of calamity and flinging it at Su Yi from ten thousand feet away.

This strike was precisely timed and terrifyingly powerful, the pinnacle of perfection.

The Dipankara Buddha had only just forced Su Yi back, and he’d yet to steady himself when that spear swathed in calamitous power descended with explosive force.

Anyone else would have been doomed

Many of the onlookers couldn’t already picture Su Yi run through, pinned to the floor in a bloody spectacle.

The Dipankara Buddha and Lu Shi shifted positions to surround Su Yi.

Xiao Jian pulled a scroll out of his sleeve. It seemed he was about to do something.

But it was then that Su Yi’s still unsteady figure surged with dense, mysterious power.

He raised his hand, blocking the explosive, terrifying spear strike with his palm.

Moments later, it shattered, inch by inch, erupting with calamitous power.

But none of it could so much as scratch Su Yi. Su Yi’s palm blocked it all; none could draw near his body.

Su Yi, meanwhile, had seized the opportunity to steady himself. He didn’t even look at the spear. He just struck with all his might.

The Dipankara Buddha and Lu Shi were attacking from the sides, but the force of his fist simultaneously forced them both back.

He’d been doomed beyond a doubt, but now, he’d turned the situation on its head in an instant!
