First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2675 - An Excellent Mentality

Chapter 2675 – An Excellent Mentality

There were two ways to kill an Eternal.

First, you could strip them of their Eternal Dao.

Second, you could shatter their Dao Heart.

The heart was like the lamp of someone’s light. When it went out, their life went out with it.

But it wasn’t easy to shatter an Eternal’s Dao Heart. At their level, their hearts were rooted in Eternal Dao Light. Even Heavenly Sovereigns couldn’t truly shatter other Eternals’ Dao Hearts.

It was only when Eternals met with Karmic Tribulations that their hearts were at risk of collapse.

Yet now, Su Yi had mastered a power capable of shattering Eternals’ Dao Hearts. Who wouldn’t have found that astonishing?

“A Heart Soul, huh…? How could an Undying cultivator possibly have mastered such a power?” Di E’s brow furrowed. He found it hard to remain calm.

Even on the River of Destiny, those who’d condensed Heart Souls were extremely rare. Even some of the Heavenly Sovereigns had yet to take that step!

Who could have imagined that such a mystical power would appear in the hands of a Master God?

So, it’s really true. No wonder, murmured the Dipankara Buddha. He’d long since guessed that Su Yi had acquired a Heart Soul, but he hadn’t dared to believe it. After all, Heart Souls were far too mysterious and rare.

But he knew that those who’d mastered Heart Souls really could shatter Eternals’ Dao Hearts.

Lu Shi sighed. If Su Yi has mastered a Heart Soul, his ability to kill Eternals actually makes sense.

I just never would have guessed that a Master God like him would have mastered a power that most Eternals can only long for even in their dreams.

Many of the onlookers lost their cool.

A Heart Soul!

It was just two words, but those who understood what this power of the heart represented understood their immense weight.

As the crowd’s hearts churned, the battle on the Five Elements Altar ended.

Once Yu Chiyang was killed, Cang Lingzi was the only one left, and his cultivation was at most comparable to Yu Chiyang’s. He knew he was no match for Su Yi, so he directly destroyed his clone and aimed for mutual destruction.

But in the end, he didn’t succeed. The moment he destroyed himself, Su Yi landed a slash and shattered his Dao Heart.

Just like that, the sixth match of the second round was over.

The winners were Xiao Jian, the Dipankara Buddha, Di E, Lu Shi, Wang Zhiwu, and Su Yi.

Six people in total.

All of them were extraordinarily terrifying, and each had their own unparalleled majesty.

Naturally, it was Su Yi who drew the most attention. After all, he was merely a Master God, yet he’d won two matches in a row to make it into the final six!

“Not all Heart Souls are created equal. Yours is indeed a threat to me, but not much of one,” the Dipankara Buddha said suddenly. He fixed his calm gaze on Su Yi. “And opportunities to achieve Eternity have been severed. You’d best be careful in the following battle, Su Yi.”

This sounded like a well-intentioned warning, but it had an inscrutable flavor to it.

It was hard to grasp his true meaning.

“Tell me,” said Su Yi, “Is that a clone, or is that your true body?”

The Dipankara Buddha said calmly, “My true body.”

Su Yi found this a bit hard to understand. Isn’t he afraid of dying during the Battle for Order? Rather, is the old-timer really that certain he’ll win?

Su Yi couldn’t see through him, but he was certain that the Dipankara Buddha was planning something big. He wasn’t just here for the Battle for Order.

There was no way an old-timer like him would come without making other preparations!

“Six people, huh? That means one lucky duck will proceed to the finals without even needing to fight,” Wang Zhiwu said with a laugh. “I actually rather hope it’s me. Of course, it would be best if it were you, Fellow Daoist Su.”

Wang Zhiwu was right. There were six combatants, but a maximum of five people could fight in any given match. The sixth had no opponents, so they could simply skip the third round and proceed directly to the finals.

Whoever drew that number would be lucky indeed.

“So long as the Patrolling Spirit refrains from cheating, I’ll accept any result,” Di E said with a cold glance at the yellow finch perched on the distant five-colored auspicious clouds.

“Luck is born of the Grand Dao,” said the yellow finch. “The Five Elements Altar’s Laws of chaos cannot be controlled. None can cheat. If you don’t believe me, you’re welcome to test it for yourself.”

Di E didn’t argue, but he didn’t seem convinced.

“Su Yi, do you want the sixth spot?” Xiao Jian asked with a laugh.

It was an ordinary question, but Su Yi didn’t even pause to think. “I don’t.”

Xiao Jian froze, then gazed intently at him. Inwardly, he nodded approvingly. Good. Wanting to bypass this round would mean that, deep within his heart, he believed this match would be dangerous and troublesome.

It would mean he was afraid of adversity.

But Su Yi has no interest in that. He isn’t the least bit concerned about who gets the free pass to the next round, and he has no desire for it to be him.

Why? Simple! Because he wants to fight in that chaotic, five-man match!

Su Yi’s mentality was indeed worthy of Xiao Jian’s approval.

It wasn’t just Xiao Jian. When the Dipankara Buddha, Di E, Wang Zhiwu, and Lu Shi heard Su Yi’s answer, they froze, then quickly realized the implications. All of them were solemn, and the way they looked at Su Yi shifted slightly.

The six of them then went on to start drawing lots.

Wang Zhiwu’s lips twitched. In the end, he couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. “Argh, it isn’t me.”

Xiao Jian’s brow furrowed. He sighed. “It’s me.”

When Wang Zhiwu saw the unwilling look on his face, he barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

Xiao Jian looked at Su Yi. “I figured that if we both fought in the next match, I could help you take down a few enemies while we were at it. Now, it seems I won’t get the chance.”

Su Yi blinked, stunned, then said, “If I win, we can determine the victor of our conflict in the final match.”

Xiao Jian smiled. “Then you cannot lose.”

“You don’t get to decide whether he loses or not,” Di E said flatly. “It isn’t up to him, either.”

Xiao Jian sneered. “To think a lofty Heavenly Sovereign like you would spout such bullshit.”

Heavenly Sovereign?

Most of those present still had no idea who Di E really was. When they heard that, they shook from head to toe, their eyes widening in disbelief.

“You mean you didn’t realize that he’d been possessed by a Heavenly Sovereign?” Xiao Jian pointed at Di E, his eyes full of mockery. “Do you really think he’d dare to be so aggressive otherwise?”

Silence descended over the crowd.

A Heavenly Sovereign!

They were rulers on the River of Destiny. Other Eternals could only look up to them with reverence and awe!

Who could have imagined that a Heavenly Sovereign was participating in the Battle for Order?

“It’s not like you’re an ordinary Unfettered Realm cultivator either,” Di E said coldly. “You should have died a long time ago in the Path of the Ancient Gods, but instead, you’re living a second lifetime, and you still don’t know how to rein it in. Keep it up, and that impetuous pride is going to get you killed!”

He was obviously displeased that Xiao Jian had revealed his identity.

Xiao Jian laughed. “Is your true body watching from the endless spacetime void?”

Di E frowned and disregarded him.

Xiao Jian gazed into the firmament and murmured, “When a cataclysm erupts later today, let’s see which of us dies first.”

Gasps rang out throughout the crowd.

None could defy the Heavenly Sovereigns! Disobedience led to doom!

Heavenly Sovereigns were the supreme rulers of the River of Destiny. Who’d dare to treat them with disrespect?

Yet now, Xiao Jian was provoking a Heavenly Sovereign to his face!

Who wouldn’t have been surprised?

As the crowd watched in astonishment, Su Yi, Di E, the Dipankara Buddha, Lu Shi, and Wang Zhiwu appeared on the Five Elements Altar.

All eyes were instantly upon them. Everyone knew that this was sure to be the fiercest fight yet, the grandest match in this Battle for Order!

Would Su Yi die in battle? Who’d emerge victorious in the end?

No one could say for sure.

They could, however, point out those whose chances they didn’t think highly of.

Lu Shi and Wang Zhiwu were strong, but the way the onlookers saw it, they were clearly weaker than Di E and the Dipankara Buddha.

And of course, everyone thought Su Yi was the least likely to win.

It wasn’t that Su Yi wasn’t strong, but that everyone knew that Wang Zhiwu aside, the other three saw him as an eyesore. They were sure to target him!

Meanwhile——

Several eyes were watching with bated breath, hidden in the shadows beneath Five Elements Peak.

Five-colored auspicious clouds filled the dome of heaven.

The peak was deathly silent.

The five combatants stared each other down from the five “petals” of the Five Elements Altar. None of them rushed to attack.

The atmosphere was as oppressive as could be.

A chaotic battle like this was far more dangerous than a one-on-one duel, and far bloodier and more brutal.

This brutality had been on full display in the first two rounds.

The crowd watched as the five combatants’ auras underwent a shocking shift.

The Dipankara Buddha stood there with the calm countenance of a Buddhist statue. A lotus diagram appeared over his head, three thousand Buddhist kingdoms reflected within it.

Di E’s clothing billowed around him, his gaze cold and indifferent. Inky, inscrutable, calamitous power poured down around him, making him seem like a ruler of catastrophe.

Lu Shi drew his fingers through the air, and a sword condensed out of the power of the Laws. His sword intent rose into the firmament, and a clear, impassioned sword hum rang out.

Wang Zhiwu sighed, his presence silently shifting. There was no longer any sign of emotion on his handsome, youthful face.

Dense markings like the text of a book rose all over his skin, like ancient classics, every word glowing with radiant light.

Su Yi placed one hand in front of his back, one hand loosely clasped in front of his stomach. He looked calm and composed.

He was the most unassuming of the group.

But when the crowd saw this from afar, their hearts quivered, and they felt unprecedentedly stifled.

Finally, as if by some sort of tacit agreement, the five combatants attacked at once.

The Dipankara Buddha clasped his palms together and chanted a sutra. Three thousand Buddhist kingdoms lit up with endless Buddhist light. Countless voices chanted sutras, the sound like the rumbling of thunder.

Di E snorted coldly and took a step forward. Calamitous power swept forth like a windstorm from the nine heavens.

Lu Shi leaped forward, his sword bringing with it a waterfall of sword qi full of falling celestial bodies.

Wang Zhiwu bellowed, his hands pressing forward. The countless markings covering his skin burned with immeasurable firelight, connecting heaven and earth.

And Su Yi raised his right hand.

A streak of sword qi rose from the earth, as deep and unfathomable as an abyss!
