First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2606 - The Harsher Your Words, the Harsher the Beating

Chapter 2606 – The Harsher Your Words, the Harsher the Beating

Dust and smoke rose into the air, churning overhead.

The surrounding mountains and rivers were no more. The entire landscape had been reduced to scorched earth.

Huang Yun took a deep breath. His expression was noticeably more solemn than before. However, his eyes shone with greater ferocity.

A waterfall of murderous intent washed over him, interweaving into blood red light.

He was an Eternal. Even if this was just a soul clone, it wasn’t so easily destroyed. Su Yi’s attack might have forced him back, but it hadn’t really injured him!

“I’ve got to say, you’ve really provoked my murderous intent now!” said Huang Yun, his voice full of indescribable excitement.

“The greatest display of respect I can show an opponent is killing them, gathering their ashes, and returning them to the earth. Many on the River of Destiny praise me as a deeply qualified ‘undertaker.’ Today, I’ve decided to ‘show you my respect,’ too!”

Su Yi stood there calmly and smiled. “Succeed, and I’ll weep tears of gratitude!”

The handsome young man looked on, his gaze complicated.

From beginning to end, Su Yi showed no sign of emotion or fear. He seemed utterly carefree and at ease.

In stark contrast, Huang Yun kept spouting vicious threats. In terms of comportment, he was obviously inferior.

The handsome young man was just worried that Huang Yun’s harsh words would come back to bite him.

Boom!

Huang Yun suddenly vanished into thin air.

A moment later, a beam of blood-red light descended from the heavens, cleaving open heaven and earth. It was headed straight for Su Yi’s head, so fast that it seemed unbelievable.

Su Yi just casually raised his hand.

The descending beam of blood-red light shook, stopping just ninety feet from Su Yi’s head, unable to advance any further. In the end, it silently dissipated.

Practically simultaneously, Su Yi stomped.

Boom!

Thirty thousand feet of sky collapsed. Countless spatial rifts tore open.

Huang Yin was forced out of a gap and back into view. He’d obviously suffered a terrifying blow; he staggered as he appeared.

Before he could steady himself, Su Yi swung his left sleeve.

Boom!

Countless streaks of sword qi poured out of the rifts, like floodwaters bursting through a dam. Tens of thousands of streaks of sword qi flowed like a river, instantly enveloping the entire stretch of shattered sky!

Huang Yun’s expression shifted dramatically. He shouted at the top of his lungs. “Activate!”

Six blood-red steles floated into the air, protecting him on all sides: the north, south, east, and west, as well as above and below.

The steles were completely covered in intricate Eternal Dao Markings, all of them as red as blood and flowing with endless, inextinguishable power. It was like six ancient, towering worlds protecting Huang Yun on all sides.

The six steles locked down the area, and blood suppressed the Dao!

The handsome young man could tell at a glance that Huang Yun was using his clan’s ultimate secret art. It was imbued with Eternal truths and endless mysteries.

The handsome young man knew that Huang Yun would never have used the ultimate divine ability he took the most pride in unless he’d been forced into a corner!

Boom!!

Sword qi erupted like a waterfall, assailing the six blood-red steles. That endlessly tyrannical sword force made the six steles shake violently.

Huang Yun’s face contorted as he poured the full extent of his strength into the six steles.

His whole body ignited with firelight. Blood-red radiance rumbled and boomed. He was obviously defending himself with all his might.

Kaboom!

Sword qi swept forth in layers, like a boundless river. It was like waves on the ocean; by the time each wave fell, another had risen to take its place.

The six steles shook violently beneath this onslaught, their wails shaking the heavens. The Eternal markings on the surfaces were indistinct, as if the sword qi would soon grind them away completely.

Huang Yun’s face was instantly hideously contorted. He gnashed his teeth, his whole body seemingly catching ablaze.

But no matter how hard he struggled, it seemed he was only barely holding on.

The handsome young man’s brow furrowed, his gaze solemn. This was only the second round of their battle, but from the look of things, Huang Yun wouldn’t last much longer!

The handsome young man couldn’t help but find this hard to believe. Su Yi is just a Master God. How could he possibly be strong enough to contend with an Eternal?

Kacha!

Suddenly, one of the blood-red steles cracked, and many of its Eternal markings collapsed.

It was as if Huang Yun had been struck by lightning. He coughed up blood, and his face paled.

The handsome young man inwardly cried out in alarm. He could clearly see the six steles’ markings dimming. They’d soon run out of power!

If the steles broke, the flood of sword qi would instantly wipe Huang Yun away. He wouldn’t be able to protect his soul clone.

Crunch!

Yet another stele cracked.

Huang Yun’s eyes reddened, blazing with ferocity and anger as he roared and struggled like mad.

His ferocious majesty was enough to strike terror into the hearts of even False Eternals.

Yet he still couldn’t change his situation!

The countless streaks of sword qi emitted unbelievably powerful sword force. They’d soon crush the steles completely.

“It seems you won’t be able to bury me after all,” Su Yi said softly. “Very well. Let’s determine the victor in our third clash.”

As he spoke, he raised his right hand like a sword.

“Stop!” The handsome young man stepped forward.

“You want to intervene?” Su Yi asked calmly.

The handsome young man flipped his palm, and the Book of Legends floated into the air. He tore out a page and said gravely, “I’ll offer you this in exchange for sparing Huang Yun’s soul clone.”

Su Yi shook his head. “We agreed to determine life and death through a clash of the Grand Dao. How could he possibly back out now?”

As his voice rang out, Su Yi swung his palm like a sword, cleaving at Huang Yun.

The handsome young man sighed, then leaped through the air, swinging his fist as if loosing an arrow from a bow. It bore through the sky, slamming into Su Yi’s attack just in time to save Huang Yun from otherwise certain death.

Boom!

The young man’s expression shifted dramatically.

Su Yi’s strike had seemed simple, but its terrifying power was far beyond his expectations. It crushed his punch practically instantaneously!

This prevented him from rushing to Huang Yun’s aid in time.

Beneath this strike, the six blood-red steles finally collapsed, unable to bear the pressure.

Light scattered, and sword qi continued, its power undiminished. It cleaved into Huang Yun.

Huang Yun’s face paled, and he cried out, “Big Sister, save me——!!”

Boom!!

A fair, crystalline hand appeared out of nowhere, seizing that streak of sword qi in midair.

Huang Yun seized the opportunity to flee to safety.

The captured streak of sword qi exploded with a bang.

This development was outside the handsome young man’s expectations. Su Yi raised an eyebrow, too.

Divine radiance filled the sky, and a slender, delicate figure appeared in midair. Her fiery red hair was tied back, and she was dressed in black men’s robes. She was fair-skinned, with exquisitely beautiful features.

Her beautiful, painted eyebrows were curved like crescent moons.

She was dressed like a man, yet she had a distinctive beauty all her own.

It was just that her eyes were ice cold, and her whole body boiled over with dense murderous intent, shaking both heaven and earth.

Anyone who looked at her would have been stunned by her beauty, as well as intimidated by her murderous intent!

The handsome young man recognized her at a glance. This was Huang Yanleng, Huang Yun’s third older sister and an unparalleled figure amongst Eternals. Even some of the River of Destiny’s old-timers viewed her with trepidation.

Huang Yun’s ancestor once praised his malice as being mighty enough to devour dragons and elephants, break tribulations, and alter fate itself!

But Huang Yun was unquestionably far inferior to Huang Yanleng. Even their ancestor treated her with politeness. He doted on her, never daring to put on the airs of a senior!

The ancestor even frequently lamented that he was no longer qualified to guide Huang Yanleng in her cultivation!

The handsome young man had a deep impression of Huang Yanleng.

This beautiful, seemingly young woman was, in fact, a heaven-defying, ruthless figure among Eternals. She was proud and cruel, and she’d personally slain no small number of older-generation Eternals.

She was infamous on the River of Destiny. Some praised her for her unparalleled bearing and the way she killed decisively. Others feared her ferocity and avoided her as mortals fled a tiger!

And now, this legendary woman of the River of Destiny had joined the battle.

But the handsome young man could tell that unlike Huang Yun, who’d sent a clone, Huang Yanleng had just sent an avatar of will.

Su Yi, meanwhile, was looking at this new arrival appraisingly. A hint of surprise quickly lit up in his eyes. Her presence was actually putting a bit of pressure on him!

“Third Sister!” Huang Yun said excitedly. He walked over to Huang Yanleng and said, “I’m so glad you came in time. Otherwise, my soul clone would have been finished!”

Earlier, Huang Yun came across as an unparalleled, ferocious hooligan, but in front of Huang Yanleng, he was meek and docile!

His reverence was bone deep!

“You agreed to determine life and death in a clash of the Grand Dao, so why seek my aid?” Huang Yanleng said coldly, her voice cold and clear with a distinctive magnetism.

Huang Yun hung his head, his expression shifting erratically.

Huang Yanleng’s beautiful face didn’t so much as ripple with emotion. “You already lost, so end yourself. Don’t bring any further shame on our clan!”

“Um…” Huang Yun stiffened as if struck by lightning.

Huang Yanleng shuddered, then grimaced and tried to explain himself. “Third Sister, I naturally dare not disobey you, but…”

Bang!

Huang Yanleng raised her jade-like hand and shattered his soul clone. His body dissipated into a rain of light, leaving the last half of his sentence unsaid.

In the end, his belongings just hovered in midair. These were the hidden cards he’d brought with him.

Huang Yanleng gathered them in his stead.

Su Yi couldn’t help but take a second glance at this mysterious, tyrannical woman.

The handsome young man rubbed his nose and sighed. He didn’t say anything. They say the harsher your words, the harsher the beating, but Huang Yun didn’t just get beaten. His own big sister killed him!

That was entirely outside of the handsome young man’s expectations.

Huang Yanleng turned to look at him. “Senior, you shouldn’t have intervened earlier. Better to let him die in a clash of the Grand Dao. It was just a soul clone. So what if it was destroyed? Your intervention has only tarnished your own dignity!”

She might have addressed him as “senior”, but she wasn’t the least bit polite. She was this close to cursing him out.

The handsome young man laughed bitterly, but didn’t explain himself. It was obvious that he respected Huang Yanleng far more than Huang Yun, and he was far more reserved in front of her!

Huang Yanleng’s eyes glinted like snow as she turned her attention toward Su Yi.

It was as if an invisible knife were pressed up against Su Yi’s skin, producing prickling pain!
