Chapter 2607 - Sharp Eyes and a Rebellious Fate
Chapter 2607 – Sharp Eyes and a Rebellious Fate
She was just looking at him from a distance, yet he felt pricking pain, as if she held a blade to his skin.
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this a bit surprising. Huang Yanleng was an Eternal too, but she was obviously far stronger than Huang Yun.
She had just sent an avatar of will, while Huang Yun had sent a clone, yet she was still unquestionably much stronger.
But then, it makes sense. Eternity is divided into different stages, too. This is Huang Yun’s third older sister. It’s entirely possible that her cultivation is much higher than his, thought Su Yi.
Meanwhile, Huang Yanleng said coldly, “I too request a clash of the Grand Dao, but I’m different from Huang Yun. I’ve always liked to determine life and death in a single clash!”
The handsome young man couldn’t help but perk up. If Huang Yanleng attacks, I might well be able to figure out just how strong Su Yi has become!
“Very well,” said Su Yi, inclining his head. “But first, there’s something I’d like to ask you.”
“Go right ahead,” she said directly, her tone and mannerisms as sharp as a saber.
“If Huang Yun had come here in his true body, would you still have killed him for calling for aid during our clash of the Grand Dao?” asked Su Yi.
The handsome young man was stunned. It might have seemed like a simple question, but this was actually a direct test of Huang Yanleng’s Dao Heart!
Huang Yanleng didn’t even pause to think. “I wouldn’t have. I killed his soul clone to teach him a lesson, that’s all.”
She paused, then said, “I wouldn’t kill him for real even if he committed heinous crimes, because he’s my younger brother. More than that, he’s a scion of the Huang Family!”
“Helping those close to you unconditionally?” asked Su Yi.
“That’s right,” Huang Yanleng said forthrightly. “In my pursuit of the Dao, I’ve never concerned myself with the lives and deaths of outsiders. I care only about the survival of my clan and my fellow clansmen. So long as they live, I wouldn’t care even if the skies collapsed and the earth caved in!”
“I understand.” Su Yi inclined his head, but he didn’t comment.
He’d initially assumed that Huang Yanleng was strictly principled, and that she’d killed Huang Yun for calling for aid in the middle of a clash of the Grand Dao.
Now, it seemed he’d jumped to conclusions.
Huang Yanleng wasn’t wrong. The vast majority of experts held a similar attitude. That included Su Yi; unless someone crossed his bottom line, he conducted his affairs in much the same way.
There was no need for further discussion.
“Let’s get to it, then. Listen carefully: I’m going to aim for your neck and cut off your head,” said Huang Yanleng, stretching out her hand.
The sky silently caved in, and a long, thin saber condensed out of the power of the Grand Dao, appearing directly in her grip.
The blade was crystalline and translucent, and it glinted like snow. It was curved like a crescent moon.
Saber in hand, Huang Yanleng’s presence silently transformed. Her sharpness was now on full display, and her murderous intent shook the heavens.
Murderous intent so dense it seemed tangible condensed, forming countless blood-red skulls!
They revolved around her, and a bloody, terrifying, and strange atmosphere descended over the entire stretch of heaven and earth.
As if this were now a blood-soaked vision of purgatory!
Huang Yanleng was exquisitely beautiful. She was dressed in black, with her flowing red hair tied behind her head like a bundle of flame. It extended all the way to her waist.
But when she took her saber in hand, her murderous intent manifested thousands upon thousands of blood-red skulls. She now seemed like an empress of slaughter traversing a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. She couldn’t have been any more terrifying!
“She was born with sharp eyes and a rebellious fate!” The handsome young man narrowed his eyes and sighed to himself. “She really is the most heaven-defying monster of the Huang Family. It’s no wonder that even their ancestor acknowledges that he isn’t fit to instruct her!”
Boom!
Heaven and earth were plunged into upheaval. Murderous intent filled heaven and earth.
The handsome young man silently moved further away.
He could tell that, although Huang Yanleng had yet to attack, her murderous intent had already flooded the area, enveloping heaven and earth, and Su Yi, too!
Forget about fighting back. A Half-Step Eternal wouldn’t even be able to withstand the pressure of that murderous intent! thought the handsome young man.
Su Yi, however, just stood there. There was no wind, yet his blue robes and long black hair billowed around him.
He was like a boulder in turbulent seas. No matter how the waves assailed him, he stood tall.
The duck and chicken were huddled in a corner of the basket, quivering from head to toe.
But neither bird of the mundane world had died.
This proved that Su Yi hadn’t been suppressed by that murderous intent. On the contrary, he had the strength to spare to protect the birds!
Boom!
Before the handsome young man could give the matter any further thought, Huang Yanleng suddenly took action.
She stepped forth, and countless blood-red skulls paved a blood-red path beneath her feet. It arced through the sky, carrying her straight to Su Yi.
The handsome young man exclaimed inwardly, She can actually manipulate her murderous intent with such proficiency? Incredible!
She’d condensed her murderous intent into skulls, using them to pave a path through the sky. No ordinary Limitless Dao Lord could have pulled that off.
After all, murderous intent emanated from the heart, and it was reflected in one’s actions. It could be released externally, but it was a manifestation of the body’s essence, qi, and spirit.
Yet Huang Yanleng had tempered her murderous intent to the point that it was practically tangible. Her control was masterful. It was like a divine ability in its own right!
The handsome young man knew that this required terrifying mental strength, as well as unimaginable mastery of the Dao of Slaughter.
Boom!
Practically the very moment Huang Yanleng moved, Su Yi took action. He too took a single step forward.
It looked like a casual movement, yet sharp, indomitable sword force exploded into being as he propelled himself forward.
Boom!
A perfectly straight rift tore open through the all-encompassing ocean of murderous intent. The rift spread, slamming into the blood-red skeletal path arcing through the sky.
The sky between Su Yi and Huang Yanleng collapsed and split with a bang. Heaven and earth were overturned, and the sky was thrown into disarray.
The handsome young man gasped. Each of them is more of a monster than the other!
This, too, is an external release of murderous intent. They’ve yet to attack, but their clashing murderous intents are already throwing heaven and earth into chaos and shattering the sky!
Were any Half-Step Eternals present, the sheer destructive power of this clash would have torn them to bits!
Huang Yanleng’s eyes shone with horrifyingly cold light. She suddenly raised her saber and attacked. The sharp edge of her saber cleaved through the sky, slashing at Su Yi’s throat.
It was a simple attack, yet so sharp and forceful that it seemed startling and unearthly.
Heaven and earth were suddenly smeared a striking shade of red. The path paved of countless skulls suddenly emanated a shocking roar, like the roaring of chaos fiends.
But this was merely the humming of a saber.
The saber hum swept forth like the tide, producing strange phenomena that transformed heaven and earth. A blood-red grave suddenly appeared where Su Yi stood, but it was empty.
As if it had been prepared for Su Yi.
All of it seemed just that strange, terrifying, and bloody.
These were merely the strange phenomena produced by a single saber slash, yet they seemed real.
In the handsome young man’s eyes, her slash seemed utterly shocking. Ten thousand Daos seemed dimmer by comparison!
The way Su Yi saw it, this saber slash was the strongest he’d seen during his time cultivating in the God Domain. There was nothing else like it!
Its saber hum, saber light, saber qi, and saber force… had all fused into the saber’s edge. Huang Yanleng controlled it with her Dao Heart, giving it the force to cleave through all Daos and part both heaven and earth!
Put simply, her domineeringness was unparalleled!
There was no time for thought, nor any time to be rueful. Su Yi just acted on instinct, raising his sword.
Sword light instantly filled the sky. Sword hums echoed throughout the firmament.
A streak of sword qi shot straight into the blue dome of heaven, shaking the stars beyond!
The handsome young man’s pupils constricted. He gasped. What kind of slash was that? It actually seemed capable of suppressing all Daos and transcending the bounds of both heaven and earth!
But there was no time for the handsome young man to give the matter any further thought.
When Su Yi raised and swung his left arm, heaven and earth shifted. The world was like a blood-smeared vision of purgatory, yet now, that vision split and fell apart.
Radiant sword qi washed it all away!
Su Yi stood in place. The blood-red grave collapsed like a rain of light amidst the tide of sword qi.
When Su Yi’s slash collided with Huang Yanleng’s saber——
Boom!!
A terrifying wave of destruction swept throughout heaven and earth. The very dome of heaven itself seemed to vanish from existence, and the earth sank.
The entire sky was enveloped in endless white!
The handsome young man was watching from a distance when his body silently stiffened. He felt a prickling pain in his eyes, and he could no longer see anything clearly.
It wasn’t that his cultivation base was inadequate, but that this body of his was merely a wisp of soul. This wasn’t the real him.
That was why the aftershock of the battle affected him so badly.
The dust and smoke had yet to disperse.
Two figures clashed amidst the boundless white current of destructive power, flashing too and fro. Each appeared where the other had stood moments prior.
Su Yi suddenly swung his sleeve.
Boom!
The dust and smoke filling the air dissipated.
The seemingly endless light went out.
Two figures came back into view amidst the collapsed, devastated landscape. Everything around them was covered in startling scars and gashes. Everything that had once stood there had ceased to exist.
The entire area had been so badly battered that everything lay in ruin, and death qi hung in the air.
Who won? The handsome young man squinted as he tried to get a clearer sense of the situation, but he couldn’t see through it.
Neither Su Yi nor Huang Yanleng was injured in the slightest.
Su Yi’s blue robes swayed around him. His back was perfectly straight, and he looked calm and at ease.
Huang Yanleng’s long hair floated in the wind, her eyes bright. Her clothes were unmarred by dust, and she looked the same as before.
The only difference was that the two of them had switched positions.
Don’t tell me they couldn’t determine a victor? In that case, why even speak of deciding life and death in a single strike?
The handsome young man had only just thought this when Huang Yanleng asked out of nowhere, “What percentage of your true strength was that?”
“Sixty percent,” said Su Yi.
Huang Yanleng fell silent.
The handsome young man was stunned. Sixty percent? This was both a clash of the Grand Dao and a battle to the death. He seriously only used sixty percent of his cultivation base?
He was so stunned that he almost dared not believe his ears. Waves of shock coursed through his heart.
“What about you?” asked Su Yi.
Huang Yanleng said, “This is just an avatar of will, but I used the full extent of its power.”
She suddenly looked at Su Yi. “Next time, I’ll send a clone. We’ll re-determine life and death then!”
Her eyes were as sharp as knives and as cold as before, but the handsome young man could sense a hint of anticipation. This is a terrifying woman infamous throughout the River of Destiny, but it seems that Su Yi has ignited her thirst for victory!
