First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2371 - Slaughter!

Chapter 2371 – Slaughter!

The River Child had only just charged through the gates of Divine Billows Palace when a glinting painted halberd swung at his head.

Cold light flashed, and waves of divine flame swept forth. It was just one strike, but it cleaved the sky asunder with terrifying power.

The River Child’s gaze was dark and cold. He neither dodged nor shrank back.

Clang!!

The painted halberd cleaved into him, only to produce the earsplitting sound of metal on metal. The River Child was entirely unharmed, but the halberd scattered a rain of light and shook violently.

The halderd’s wielder, a tall man in wide-sleeved robes, couldn’t help but gasp. He tried to dodge, but he was already one step too late!

The River Child broke into a hideous grin, then charged out of nowhere, fist swinging.

Bang!!!

The painted halberd split. Fragments scattered, and the tall man was sent flying backward. He was still mid-air when he instinctively looked down and saw a bloody hole right through his chest.

“This…” The man was completely dazed. I’m a Five Tribulation Master God, but I couldn’t block even a single strike?

This thought had only just occurred to him when his body exploded. Blood splashed the air, and his soul dissipated.

“Get him!” Meanwhile, four other experts joined forces, activating their killer weapons in unison and attacking the River Child.

Sword light illuminated the sky, a divine saber glinted, a mysterious seal rumbled and boomed, and a halberd clanged, stirring up all-encompassing destructive power.

The River Child didn’t even look at it. He just stepped forward, and a current formed. Its boundless waters flowed in reverse, collapsing the heavens and sending the sword, saber, seal, and halberd flying.

The four experts were visibly horrified. All four turned and fled.

But before they’d gotten far, their bodies split into pieces, exploding like bloody firecrackers.

The River Child had thrown four punches in an instant, killing all four of them instantaneously.

He fought with unstoppable force, and it took no more effort than blowing away a handful of ash. He was like a wolf amongst sheep, sweeping across the battlefield with monstrous bloodlust!

Beyond the entrance of the Misty Rain Divine Mountains, everything was in chaos. Startled cries rose and fell in waves, beasts scampered, birds flew away in panic, and the disciples of Divine Billows Palace fled in terror.

As the aftershock spread, one beautiful, auspicious peak crumbled after another, reduced to ruin. All manner of ancient buildings collapsed into rubble.

The skies were in turmoil. Heaven and earth themselves seemed to mourn as this vision of purgatory unfolded.

Sect Leader Mo Xuchou and the others’ eyes bulged as if about to pop. They fought with all their might.

All manner of formations rumbled and boomed, unleashing all-encompassing power that assailed the River Child.

But all of this was in vain. The River Child was just too strong, and he seemed unstoppable. He broke every formation in his path, crushing the landscape beneath his feet.

Within just a few blinks of an eye, more than half of the higher-ups accompanying Mo Xuchou had perished!

Fresh blood splattered the air, staining the sky red. Desperate shrieks rang out, one after another.

It really was like the descent of the apocalypse!

Although the River Child remembered Su Yi’s instructions and didn’t attack anyone he hadn’t been told to, the aftershock of the battle was still so intense that countless other members of Divine Billows Palace died.

The River Child didn’t care. He was whole-heartedly fixated on carrying out Su Yi’s orders. How could he possibly have concerned himself with anything else?

“Die!” The River Child flashed through the air, shattering an opponent’s body.

Then, he charged at Mo Xuchou.

“Stop——!!” An enraged roar rang out.

Boom!

A white-haired, white-bearded elder shot over, then activated a black Daoist seal to block the River Child’s charge.

“Ancestor!” someone cried out excitedly.

The River Child had fought without reservations since passing through their gates, and he’d been completely unstoppable. The higher-ups’ courage had already broken down, and they were on the verge of a breakdown.

Who wouldn’t have been excited to see one of the sect’s ancestral figures at a time like this?

This new arrival was one of their Nine-Tribulation Master Gods. His title was “Yuanxu,” or “Abyssal Void”, and he was a stabilizing force within the sect.

“Die, you wicked creature!” Ancestor Yuanxu’s hair and beard bristled, and he attacked with all his might.

His black Daoist seal flew through the air, bringing with it divine radiance. Furthermore, it drew on the power of every formation covering the Misty Divine Mountains, bringing all of them onto the River Child at once.

With power like that, Ancestor Yuanxu could have suppressed even another Nine-Tribulation Master God.

He did indeed block the River Child’s offensive.

However, before he had time to celebrate, the River Child snorted coldly, then waved the Umbrella of Tribulations.

Bang!!!

Heaven and earth split. The nearby mountains crumbled.

The Umbrella of Tribulations sent Ancestor Yuanxu’s black seal flying.

The River Child, meanwhile, charged at him.

“You can’t cut it, old man!” The River Child’s cold black eyes were like twin portals to hell. Ancestor Yuanxu’s whole body stiffened at the sight of them.

A moment later, the River Child used his fingers as a blade to slash the air.

Splurt!

Ancestor Yuanxu’s head flew from his shoulders. He’d been decapitated!

His head shattered into pieces mid-flight, and his headless body fell down to earth and split into pieces.

A Nine-Tribulation Master God had died, just like that!

His death was like the straw that broke the camel’s back. Mo Xuchou and the others’ will to fight completely crumbled.

The River Child seized this opportunity to open the Umbrella of Tribulations, blocking the power of the formations as he continued ahead.

“This is bad!” Second Elder Ma Feng cried out in terror; the River Child was coming for him! As soon as he realized this, he turned to flee without hesitation.

“Earlier, you barked the loudest of anyone here, you old dog. Why are you suddenly out of courage now?” The River Child stretched out his hand and grabbed.

Bang!

Ma Feng’s body was crushed into pieces, destroyed like paper window panelling.

Only three higher-ups remained by Mo Xuchou’s side. The other higher-ups, more than twenty people, had all already perished!

“Run! Hurry!!” Mo Xuchou’s eyes were bloodshot, and he cried out hysterically.

Within the sect, everything was in chaos. The aftershock of battle swept outward, leaving the ground riddled with scars and pools of blood.

These mountains had once been like an otherworldly pure land, but now, they ran red with rivers of blood.

The sight left Mo Xuchou’s Dao Heart on the verge of collapse.

Divine Billows Palace had stood for countless years. It had always been among the Endless Ocean’s mightiest factions. Nothing like this had ever befallen it before.

Yet now, their gates had fallen, and their experts were dying, one after another. Even Ancestor Yuanxu had died in a single blow, perishing with a heart full of resentment. How could Mo Xuchou possibly accept this?

If only I’d known this would happen. I should never have trusted those three spacetime forbidden zones so easily… Mo Xuchou’s intestines were practically green with regret.

But no matter what anyone said now, it was too late for regrets!

Bang!

Yet another higher-up died.

Mo Xuchou forced his terror and grief back down and shot toward the forbidden ground on the black mountain. His only hope was to pray that the Kongtong Forbidden Ground would open in time to let the rest of his sectmates escape inside.

The River Child’s voice rang out out of nowhere. “You’re the last one left, old man.”

Mo Xuchou felt a chill course down his spine. He dared not turn around, instead fleeing with all his might.

Boom!

Suddenly, startling spacetime ripples arose in the sky above the forbidden ground on the sect’s back mountain, and a massive, vortex-like golden portal appeared.

“It opened! The Kongtong Hidden Realm the founder left for us has appeared!” Mo Xuchou suddenly saw a thread of hope amidst the darkness and despair. So long as we flee inside, we’ll be safe!

But it was then that Mo Xuchou saw that the River Child had appeared in front of him, seemingly out of nowhere.

His adorable, guileless face was full of mockery. “I deliberately refrained from killing you earlier because I wanted you to see hope before you died.”

Mo Xuchou’s expression shifted. This kid is seriously brutal!

This thought had only just arisen in his mind when the River Child attacked once more, pressing down on the air.

Bang!!

Mo Xuchou was swatted like a fly, squished flat. Even his soul was reduced to powder.

The leader of Divine Billows Palace had perished, but the River Child acted like he’d done something entirely trivial.

He looked up at the golden portal hovering beneath the dome of heaven. Numerous experts of Divine Billows Palace were still fleeing into it.

The River Child charged.

Boom!

He waved the Umbrella of Tribulations, slamming it at the portal in an attempt to break it.

However, a deafening impact rang out, and the umbrella was forced away. Even the River Child staggered backward.

“Dare you try to fight your way in, you wicked creature?” someone roared from beyond the portal.

“Why wouldn’t I dare?” the River Child said with a cold laugh.

But just as he was about to take action, Su Yi’s calm voice rang out. “Don’t try it.”

The River Child looked over. He wasn’t sure when, but Su Yi now stood not far away from him. The little monkey’s soul hovered nearby. For origınal chapters go to novel⁂fire.net

Insults and provocations emanated from beyond the portal. “Come on! You’re strong, aren’t you? So why are you too afraid to come inside?”

The River Child was furious. He swept his murderous gaze across the area, then said, “Your Excellency, should I kill everyone yet to flee inside?”

Many experts of Divine Billows Palace had yet to find refuge beyond that golden portal. When they heard the River Child’s question, their courage failed them. They felt as if they’d been plunged into an icy abyss.

“No need for that.” Su Yi shook his head slightly. “I promised not to kill them all, and I disdain attacking the weak and insignificant.”

He looked at the portal. “Tell your founder that if he’s got the guts, he’s welcome to seek revenge at any time. I’ll be waiting for him.”

Then, he turned to the River Child. “We’ll leave once you’ve gathered the spoils.”

“Okay!” The River Child agreed.

Su Yi, meanwhile, left the Misty Rain Divine Mountains. He was actually a bit disappointed. And here I thought that causing such an enormous disaster here would be enough to lure you out of hiding, Ol’ Divine Billows.

There’s no doubt about it. You must have gone into hiding a long time ago, just like Ol’ Golden Crane.

Su Yi could now say with certainty that the Divine Billows Sage Monarch wouldn’t appear even if he flattered Divine Billows Palace in its entirety!

The reason was simple. Of Yi Daoxuan’s eight closest friends, Divine Billows was the most ruthless, and the most capable of enduring an insult.

Perhaps he anticipated that I’d come back to the Endless Ocean to get revenge, just like Ol’ Golden Crow. That might be why he went into hiding… thought Su Yi. Perhaps all of them are just waiting for the Dark Days of Legend to arrive?

As he pondered, he stopped outside the mountains.

“Little monkey, are you satisfied with this?” Su Yi asked gently.

Waves of emotion crashed through the little monkey’s heart. He nodded solemnly. “Master, to tell the truth, living to reunite with you is already cause for celebration. The heavens… have truly been kind to me!”

Su Yi smiled. “We’ll go home soon.”

“Home?” the monkey asked in a daze.

“That’s right. We’re going home.” Images of Sunset Perch Island arose in Su Yi’s mind.

The peach blossoms were in full bloom, and the light of dusk was colorful and resplendent.

That was Yi Daoxuan’s home.
