Chapter 2370 - Condemnation!
Chapter 2370 – Condemnation!
The drizzle created a mist that enveloped the mountains.
Sect Leader Mo Xuchou led a group of several dozen sect higher-ups. It was quite the powerful lineup.
However, when they saw Su Yi ride in from afar on a little flat boat, even they looked grim.
Mo Xuchou took a deep breath, then clasped his fist in greeting. “Fellow Daoist Su, you grace us with your presence. Forgive us for not going out to welcome you.”
“Where is he?” asked Su Yi flatly. He couldn’t even be bothered to exchange pleasantries.
His attitude was unquestionably domineering. After all, this was Divine Billows Palace’s territory. You could have searched the Endless Ocean without finding anyone else who’d dare march up to their gates to avenge a grudge like this.
Mo Xuchou said solemnly, “Rest assured, Fellow Daoist Su. That yao god is alive and well.”
He slipped a jade bottle out of his sleeves. “His soul is sealed inside. Fellow Daoist Su, if you’re willing to set aside our prior enmities, I promise to return you the bottle immediately!”
Su Yi said calmly, “I’m here to punish you for your crimes, not to negotiate.”
The sect higher-ups’ hearts shook, and their expressions shifted.
Mo Xuchou sighed. “We know that what happened at the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly provoked you, Fellow Daoist, but we’re willing to make amends! Please, go ahead and state your terms. Whatever it is, we’ll agree so long as it’s within our power to grant!”
The crowd fell silent. They weren’t at all pleased. Who could fail to realize that in the face of Su Yi’s condemnations, their leader had chosen to make concessions?
Su Yi took a sip of wine. “Did you see the messages I sent?”
Mo Xuchou nodded.
“Do the others know?” asked Su Yi.
Mo Xuchou shook his head.
“In that case, take this time to tell them, word for word,” said Su Yi.
Mo Xuchou hesitated, but in the end, he said, “Fellow Daoist Su told me that if anything happened to that yao god, he’d slaughter everyone in the sect, down to the dogs and chickens!”
The crowd was startled. A threat like this was unquestionably far too unsettling.
Especially when it came from Su Yi. Who’d dare to disregard it?
“Alright, then. Give him to me now, and I naturally won’t exterminate the entire sect.” Su Yi stretched out his right hand.
Mo Xuchou’s expression filled with uncertainty. What did Su Yi mean by “I won’t exterminate the entire sect”? There was no doubt about it. Su Yi would attack even if they returned the hostage, and he wouldn’t let them off lightly, either!
The others realized this too. One of them said, “Sect Leader, what is left to discuss? Let’s seize this chance to kill him and be done with it!”
The speaker was a swarthy middle-aged man with a martial bearing and imposing majesty. His name was Ma Feng, and he was Divine Billows Palace’s second elder.
“That’s right. He isn’t here to negotiate. We can’t smooth things over even if we want to!”
The others chimed in, one after another, to express their indignation.
This was Divine Billows Palace’s territory! They were one of the leading factions in the Endless Ocean. Although they dreaded Su Yi, they weren’t some soft persimmon he could squeeze as he saw fit!
He was already walking all over them. Who’d tolerate that?
“Excellent! You’ve got guts! I’ll remember everyone who spoke up just now. In a bit, I’ll send you on your way personally!” the River Child said with a cold laugh. “When the time comes, anyone who begs for mercy or tries to flee is a son of a bitch!”
The higher-ups’ expressions were instantly unsightly.
Su Yi paid this no heed. He just gazed quietly at Mo Xuchou. “I’ll give you three snaps of the fingers. If you don’t give up the hostage, I’ll carry out my promise!”
Mo Xuchou looked stricken. He felt intense pressure bearing down on him.
Many of them were indignant and eager to declare war with Su Yi.
But in the end, Mo Xuchou endured. He passed the jade bottle to Su Yi from afar.
He didn’t say anything, but this decision was clear proof that, in his capacity as sect leader, he’d chosen to compromise!
The crowd felt stifled and increasingly displeased. Still, none of them were in a position to say anything. This was the sect leader’s decision.
Su Yi accepted the bottle and undid its seal. The little monkey’s soul instantly shot out.
“Master!?” the little monkey exclaimed with delight.
“You suffered because of me,” said Su Yi. He looked the little monkey up and down, and when he saw how badly battered he was, with numerous startling wounds, fury welled in his chest.
“Master, it would be fine even if I died in the line of duty,” the little monkey said with a grin. “And besides, I didn’t die, so there’s no need for you to worry!”
Su Yi nodded. “Next, you just need to step aside and watch.”
“Okay!” The little monkey could tell that something wasn’t right about the situation, so he repressed his curiosity and stood silently to the side.
“Fellow Daoist, I trust that now, you’ll believe us when we say that we sincerely want to smooth things over,” Mo Xuchou said from the sect gets. “Rest assured. We’ll take out our treasures and use them to help that yao god rebuild his body and repair his soul on top of compensating him generously!”
The drizzle continued, and mist rose into the air. The atmosphere was stifled and oppressive.
All eyes were on Su Yi.
Su Yi said softly, “You erred, so you must pay the price. If you’re serious about making amends, why not… just offer me your lives?”
He swept his gaze across Mo Xuchou and the other sect higher-ups. “What say you?”
Every word echoed throughout heaven and earth, lending an additional austerity to the mist and rain.
Mo Xuchou and the others’ expressions were unsightly, and their eyes blazed with fury.
“We’ve already made all these concessions. Aren’t you satisfied yet?” raged Second Elder Ma Feng. “Don’t tell me that you won’t be happy until one side is completely wiped out?”
Su Yi shook his head. “I said I wouldn’t kill the entire sect, and I naturally won’t go back on my word, but… you have to die.”
He patted the River Child on the shoulder. “See that? Kill those people first. If any of the others dare to intervene, kill them, too. Got it?”
“Rest assured, Your Excellency!” said the River Child. “I won’t massacre the innocent!”
Su Yi passed him the Epoch Spark. “Go on.”
The River Child grinned. “Just watch, Your Excellency!”
They made no effort to disguise their conversation. The experts of Divine Billows Palace heard every last word.
Fury overwhelmed their hearts. Su Yi… is just too unreasonable! Had we known, we’d have just killed the hostage!
“Wait! Fellow Daoist Su, let’s talk this over!” said Mo Xuchou.
But before he could say anything else, the River Child charged explosively at him.
“Retreat! Return to the sect! Hurry!” Mo Xuchou cast aside all other concerns, bellowed, then led the others back through the sect gates.
Boom!
Practically simultaneously, formations rumbled throughout the Misty Rain Divine Mountains. Countless streaks of divine radiance shot into the firmament, illuminating everything in all directions.
The Nine Heavens Falling Blue Formation!
It could trap and kill even Master Gods. This was Divine Billows Palace’s sect-protecting grand formation.
Boom!
The River Child struck from afar, and a river appeared, its waters flowing in reverse into the heavens. The current slammed into the formation, hard.
The entire formation swayed violently, stirring up all-encompassing, brilliant flames of destructive power.
The commotion seemed enormous, but the River Child’s attack was still neutralized in the end. Mo Xuchou and the others who’d fled through the sect gates sighed in relief.
“Su Yi! It’s not too late for you to take your people and leave. Refuse, and this place will become your grave!” Mo Xuchou roared. New ᴏᴠʟ ᴄhapters are published on novel·fıre·net
The way he saw it, he’d been tolerant enough already. He’d made concessions on numerous occasions, too. Who’d have thought it wouldn’t move Su Yi at all?
Kaboom!
The River Child struck once more, attacking the formation in a frenzy.
Firelight surged, and destructive power swept outward. Deafening impacts rose and fell in waves, and three thousand miles of seawater churned. It was like a vision of the apocalypse.
The little monkey was left wide-eyed and tongue-tied. Who is that kid? How could he be so ferocious?
Mo Xuchou and the others were startled too. They didn’t even need to think to know that this child was the very same terrifying existence who’d erupted with such terrifying force on Sunset Perch Island.
He’d sent even three experts of forbidden zones fleeing in panic, practically pissing and shitting themselves for sheer fright!
“Sect Leader, if things go on like this, he’ll break the formation!” someone cried out frantically.
“Rest assured. The grand elder already left with the other elders to open the Kongtong Hidden Realm. All we need to do is stall for time. Then, even if the formation breaks, they won’t be able to touch a hair on our heads!” Mo Xuchou said gravely. “Until then, we’ve got to defend this place and buy time for the rest of the sect to flee!”
He’d only just said this when something unexpected happened beyond the gates.
Light reminiscent of the radiant full moon rose, soaring into the firmament and erupting with light. Wisps of clear divine radiance danced in the wind, like flurries of snow.
Suddenly, the churning seas came to an unnatural stillness, as if the whole world had been frozen in place. Not even the breeze blew.
The Misty Rain Mountains suffered a terrifying impact.
Most obviously, the formation was instantly under terrifying suppression. It wailed, and its operations showed signs of stagnating.
Mo Xuchou felt a chill course down his spine. He cried out, “The Sea-Stabilizing Pearl! How did Spirit Vessel Yao Court’s treasure wind up in your hands!?”
The Sea-Stabilizing Pearl!
The crowd’s hearts sank. This was Spirit Vessel Yao Court’s sect protecting treasure! It could seal ninety thousand miles of ocean, freezing everything in place.
In battle, it could leave foes frozen, too, as helpless as lambs to the slaughter!
“Go!” Mo Xuchou bellowed without the slightest hesitation, flinging a purple Daoist seal swathed in lightning at the distant Sea-Stabilizing Pearl.
The Purple Lightning Seal!
This was Divine Billows Palace’s sect-protecting treasure. Its power wasn’t at all inferior to that of the Sea-Stabilizing Pearl!
But this treasure had only just risen into the air when the River Child waved the Umbrella of Tribulations and sent it flying.
Mo Xuchou suffered the resulting backlash and coughed up blood. He roared, “Quick! Attack together! Stop him!”
The other higher-ups dared not be negligent. All of them took out their trump cards and attacked with all their might.
But they were ultimately one step too late.
When the Sea-Stabilizing Pearl froze the ocean, the River Child seized the opportunity to step forward and swing his fist.
Thud!!
The formation churned violently, and firelight swept outward.
A distinctive fist imprint formed beneath the River Child’s hand. When the River Child kicked it, the formation shattered around the indentation, tearing open a rift.
The formation had broken!
The River Child’s adorable little face broke into a cruel smile, and he charged in through the gap.
Su Yi stood in the distance, watching from the deck of his flat boat. He took it all in calmly.
It was drizzling, but the raindrops froze in place mid-fall.
The Sea-Stabilizing Pearl lit up beneath the dome of heaven, like a dream or illusion.
The little monkey stood beside Su Yi. He couldn’t help but feel dazed, and he almost suspected he was dreaming. Since when were Master and his subordinates strong enough to shake peak factions?
