First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2316 - Old Monsters of the Age of Supreme Emergence

Chapter 2316 – Old Monsters of the Age of Supreme Emergence

Leaden clouds hung in the air. An austere atmosphere enshrouded heaven and earth

Wan Zitian’s robes billowed around him, and sword intent surged in waves.

He and Su Yi had long since talked it over. As soon as they reconvened, they’d fight their way to life.

To a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God like him, even outnumbered, fleeing wouldn’t be all that difficult. Besides, this time, he had Su Yi to help him.

However, Wang Zitian also knew that there were numerous people lying in ambush outside the Celestial Capital, not just Master God Yun He and the others, so he’d already prepared for the worst. So what if he had to pay a bit of a price? He wasn’t even afraid to die!

Time slipped by.

The Celestial Capital had yet to vanish when a tall, upright figure emerged through its gates. His gait was calm and leisurely, and his blue robes swayed around him.

This was none other than Su Yi!

“You’re finally here! Those old-timers are champing at the bit,” laughed Wan Zitian.

Su Yi glanced at him. “I can tell that that goes for you, too.”

Wan Zitian threw back his head and laughed. “It’s been a long, long time since I’ve experienced this kind of battle. I really am just itching to get started!”

His voice boomed throughout the area.

Countless streaks of sword light exploded around him, transforming into arcs of divine radiance that shot into the firmament, dispersing the wind and clouds.

“Then let’s join forces and get started!” laughed Su Yi, the depths of his gaze utterly cold and murderous.

Master God Yun He snorted coldly, then raised his right hand into the air.

Clang!

His wooden sword took to the air, and the surrounding one hundred thousand feet of sky exploded. Sword qi filled both heaven and earth.

At the same time, Liuxiang Hen, Yue Youyuan, and the other old-timers had long since been ready to fight. All of them took action, too.

Each drew his Undying treasure, and their terrifying murderous intents locked onto the distant Su Yi and Wan Zitian.

Kaboom!

It was as if the apocalypse had descended upon the area outside the Celestial Capital.

A terrifying flood of divine majesty swept outward. Wherever it passed, the sky split, mountains collapsed, and the earth caved in.

It was a shocking vision of destruction: heaven and earth crumbled, and all of creation withered.

This was the power of Nine-Tribulation Master Gods!

Other deities could forget about participating in a battle of this level; if they even so much as got close, they risked severe injuries or even death!

“Ol’ Wan, I’m afraid I’ll have to rely on you this time. You lead the charge, and I’ll back you up,” Su Yi said softly.

Wan Zitian laughed. “In the past, I always had to watch you lead us into battle. Now, it’s finally my turn to seize all the glory!”

Su Yi laughed too.

A moment later, Wan Zitian led the charge. Su Yi stuck close to them, and the two of them moved almost shoulder-to-shoulder, as if wandering through heaven and earth.

They faced a throng of enemies, but they were still calm and at ease.

Master God Yun He and the others exchanged glances, but just as they were about to attack…

A hoarse, raspy voice suddenly rang out, stopping the battle just as it was about to begin. “Stop!”

A blue-green flame appeared on the battlefield accompanying this voice, then transformed into a tall, handsome man in green robes.

His green robes were covered in dense flame markings, and when he appeared, terrifying, ferocious majesty swept outward.

“Everyone, consider this lofty one part of what happens here today!” he said leisurely.

The crowd furrowed their brows.

But when Master God Yun He and the others sensed the green-robed man’s terrifying aura, their eyes narrowed, and their hearts were solemn. This guy’s quite scary!

At the same time, Su Yi and Wan Zitian exchanged glances. They couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

They weren’t surprised that someone else had gotten involved, but the green-robed man was just too unfamiliar!

“Might I ask your name, sir?” Master God Yun He said gravely. He’d forced his anger back down. After all, they were on the brink of a grand battle, only for this stranger to interject. Anyone would have found that hard to bear.

“We’re of different ages,” laughed the man in green. “You can just call me ‘Lu Song.’”

Lu Song? The name meant nothing to the crowd gathered here.

But when they heard that he was from a different age, the looks in their eyes shifted.

There were only two possibilities!

Lu Song could have been an incomparably ancient expert of an unknown territory. If so, it was to be expected that they didn’t recognize him. Unknown territories were famous for their mysteriousness, after all. Even a whole group of unfamiliar old-timers wouldn’t have been strange in that case.

The other possibility was that Lu Song wasn’t of the present day at all, and that he hailed from another spacetime!

It would be unsettling if that were true, as it would imply that he’d reached the God Domain even prior to the onset of the Dark Days of Legend to appear in the present day!

Who wouldn’t have been astonished?

“You’re welcome to participate, but we won’t join forces with you,” Master God Yun He said icily.

Lu Song chuckled. “Very well. It’ll all come down to skill. Let’s see who manages to capture Su Yi first!”

As he spoke, he fixed his gaze on the distant Su Yi. His eyes were utterly heated, as if he’d set his sights on the most enticing, precious treasure in the world!

“Do you want to attack first, or should I?” laughed Lu Song.

Master God Yun He said expressionlessly, “Does this really require a discussion?”

“I’ll attack first, then!” said Lu Song. A moment later, he vanished into thin air.

But a moment later, a streak of resplendent, five-colored divine radiance descended from the heavens.

Boom!!

A whole stretch of sky exploded.

Lu Song staggered out of the rift, forced backward. He looked a bit wretched.

“Brazen! How dare you attack this lofty one, you witch? Show yourself, damn it!” roared Lu Song, his voice booming throughout heaven and earth like thunder.

The crowd was startled, because it wasn’t Master God Yun He and his allies who’d attacked him, nor was it Su Yi or Wan Zitian.

Rather, it was a colorfully dressed woman who’d appeared silently in the distance.

Her hair was tied up, and she was slender and petite, with a five-colored ring of colorful light around her. As the ring revolved, it scattered brilliant, dreamlike, five-colored divine radiance.

A pure, holy air emanated from her, then spread into the surrounding area.

“The rest of us haven’t attacked yet, but you’ve already lost your patience. Your slovenliness is far too unsightly.” The colorfully dressed woman shook her head. Her voice was cold and clear.

“And who are you?” Master God Yun He frowned.

“I’m not of this age, just like Ol’ Lu Song,” the colorfully dressed woman said plainly. “I’m here for the power of reincarnation, too.”

The crowd shifted. Everyone exchanged glances.

Not even Master God Yun He and the others had anticipated that more than one terrifying existence not of this age had been watching from the shadows this entire time.

“Did you anticipate this, Brother Fuyou?” Wan Zitian furrowed his brow.

Su Yi shook his head slightly. “Let’s just see how things develop. From the look of things, I’m afraid this is going to turn into a huge commotion.”

Indeed, he’d barely finished speaking when…

Whoosh!

A white deer rode in on a blue auspicious cloud. A young man in ornate robes was seated on its back. He was strikingly handsome, and he carried a jade flute.

But when his eyes surveyed his surroundings, they flashed with sharp, unsettling golden light.

“Forgive me for disturbing you, everyone. This is a grand occasion, but this humble one came uninvited. Please don’t take offense.” The ornately dressed man astride the white deer smiled and clasped his fist as soon as he arrived.

Despite his warm, scholarly bearing, no one would dare to underestimate him. His imposing aura wasn’t the least bit inferior to Lu Song or the colorfully dressed woman’s!

And he, too, was an unfamiliar face. No one here recognized him!

This time, Master God Yun He and the others understood. This is a thorny situation!

At the very least, they’d have to have numerous new, terrifying opponents and variables if they were to hunt Su Yi down.

“Don’t tell me that you aren’t of this age, either?” Master God Yun He said expressionlessly.

“That’s right! I’m just a nameless nobody. You can just call me Hua Yin,” the lavishly dressed young man said modestly.

Hua Yin!

To the crowd, this name was entirely unfamiliar.

But much to their surprise, Lu Song and the colorfully dressed woman obviously didn’t recognize this “Hua Yin” person either!

“Dammit! What are all of them doing here?” Meanwhile, the Mountain Guardian’s mountainous frame appeared in the gates to the Celestial Capital. He looked utterly flabbergasted.

“You recognize them?” asked Su Yi.

“The earliest days of the God Domain’s history are divided into five ages based on the order in which the Five Great Sources appeared,” the Mountain Guardian said rapidly. “These three old-timers are all from the Age of Supreme Emergence! They failed to step onto the River of Destiny before the Age of Supreme Emergence ended, so the Cataclysm of Supreme Emergence left them trapped in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence. They’ve been stuck here ever since!”

Experts of the God Domain’s Age of Supreme Emergence!!

Only then did the crowd understand. They couldn’t help but feel startled. Does that mean that they’re old-timers from the same age as Dao Venerate Lu Shi?

The five ages of the earliest days of the God Domain had long since vanished into the distant past.

The end of each age meant the destruction of its experts.

To the people of the present day, the five ages of the early God Domain were incomparably distant and ancient.

Who could have imagined that they’d encounter experts of that era here in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence?

It was simply unbelievable!

“That means they’ve been trapped in the ruins all this time, unable to show themselves?” asked Su Yi.

“That’s right,” said the Mountain Guardian. “These ruins were the source of the Age of Supreme Emergence. Although the Age of Supreme Emergence ended a long time ago, here, they can exist in perpetuity!

“These old-timers were trapped here back then because the Cataclysm of Supreme Emergence swept throughout the God Domain. Those captured were like hibernating bugs; they weren’t just stuck. They were also entirely unaware of everything happening in the outside world.

“Even I would never have expected that they’d managed to break free!”

The Mountain Guardian’s expression shifted erratically. “This really shouldn’t have happened. Logically speaking, they shouldn’t have been able to break free until the Dark Days of Legend arrived and the Laws of Heaven changed, but now…”

He trailed off, but everyone already understood what the Mountain Guardian was getting at.

Something had changed dramatically in the ruins of Supreme Emergence, something not even the Mountain Guardian understood. Whatever it was, it had let these old-timers of the Age of Supreme Emergence break free!

Master God Yun He and the others’ expressions instantly darkened.

This development was a severe disruption!

Su Yi frowned too; this ruins his plans, too.

The Mountain Guardian said hurriedly, “Still, it’s not that bad. At least it’s just the three of them. Otherwise…”

But then, his voice came to an abrupt halt as the situation changed once more.
