Chapter 1089: Chapter 530: Reversal_2

"Instructor Fimis, I’m sorry..."

"Just saying that won’t do. Please recite the contents starting from the third section of Magic Theory."

Knowing the teachers’ routines well, Li Ang understood this was not just a test but also a punishment. Because under the gaze of his peers, any little slip-up would be caught and ridiculed.

I can’t do this, I stumble even with the first two sections, and the third section was just started yesterday.

Li Ang was already preparing his mindset.

"Magic can be seen as a practical approach after systematizing and formalizing the use of Magic Power, hence we need to know the Magic Power Dimension better..."

He opened his mouth, bracing himself, but each point of knowledge seemed like he had seen it long ago, streaming out of his mind.

Instructor Fimis’s face showed increasing surprise, as did the other classmates. Even those familiar with him, Meluna and Meimei, seemed even more surprised.

When he finished the last sentence, the classroom fell into a brief silence.

"Ahem, not bad, I didn’t expect you to... No, I should say you prepared well, but even so, don’t leave after class."

Fimis had Li Ang return to his original seat, and after class, he was assigned to move the textbooks back to the office.

Meimei, despite looking sympathetic, couldn’t help Li Ang because she and her sister Meluna had to go to their next class.

Li Ang was bound to be late, but the next class, "Magic Use in Combat," was also taught by Fimis, so she dared to make him run errands.

"Doesn’t the instructor use magic to move things?"

Li Ang murmured as he carried a stack of scrolls away from the Magic Theory building, reaching Fimis’s office, and began the next phase of errands — helping her borrow the necessary Magic Books for the next class from the library.

Li Ang was sweating profusely by the time he reached the library; the next class had already started. He quickly approached the counter: "Hello, I’d like to borrow a copy of the Autonomous Counter-Magic Guidebook."

No one responded, but he heard sounds of movement from someone, seemingly suppressing sobs like a girl crying quietly.

Peering around the corner, he saw a girl lying on the desk at the counter, trembling lightly, the sobbing sounds apparently coming from her.

Her long hair was white-based with a rainbow-like sheen flowing through it, making Li Ang pause.

Such beautiful hair, yet untended; a bit dirty and tangled, what’s going on? Li Ang thought as he raised his voice slightly, "Hello?"

"Eeek!"

The iridescent-haired girl sprang up, her curved back recoiling as she lifted her face high; it was more intense than the feeling of being electrified, akin to being struck by lightning.

She wore a large beige coat underneath which was a wrinkled school uniform Magic Robe, not very tidy, yet her face, blending human and elf features, was exceptionally beautiful; even such slovenliness could not hide it.

"Why the hell isn’t it class time?!"

The half-elf girl looked like she was on the verge of collapse, scrutinizing Li Ang intensely, seemingly trying to perceive something from him.

Li Ang remained calm, without a reaction, letting the girl inspect him until she appeared to calm down a bit, and he said, "I’m here to borrow books, this is Instructor Fimis’s borrowing card."

"Ah, right, you must be here, damn, this is so annoying..."

Realizing she needed to handle business, the girl hastily combed her hair to keep it from covering her face, then gingerly reached out, snatching the borrowing card quickly.

Naturally beautiful yet utterly unkempt, full of crude words, Li Ang wiped non-existent sweat from his forehead.

When the librarian girl returned with the Magic Guidebook, Li Ang noticed her work badge on her coat, bearing her name: Dorothy Campbell.

Dorothy? That’s a name for the aristocratic young ladies and sweet girls in stories, utterly mismatched with the weary, dismissive dark girl in front of him. Li Ang felt a strong sense of discord.

He took the heavy and wide Magic Guidebook and left the library.

"Hey! Wait!" Dorothy called after him again.

"What’s up?" Li Ang turned back.

"You really didn’t see, right..."

"You mean you were crying?"

"Ugh, I knew it, no... crying? Yes, yes, I was crying, sure, think of it like that."

Seeing the bizarre expressions rapidly changing on Dorothy’s face, Li Ang didn’t want to engage with this odd girl anymore.

He hurried to his class, hoping the instructor wouldn’t find another excuse to criticize.

Jogging through the empty Mistrem Square, Li Ang’s pace suddenly slowed.

Wait, is there such a large mirror in this square?

Li Ang noticed an enormous Silver Mirror nearby, likely twenty or thirty meters tall, incredibly polished; even over ten meters away, he could clearly see his reflection in his school uniform.

Bong——!

While seeing the mirror, a powerful bell toll suddenly attacked, deafeningly piercing, rippling through the surface of the Silver Mirror, blurring his reflection.

Li Ang raised his hand to cover his ears, but suddenly it felt like lightning struck his spirit.

Wasn’t I... wait, what’s going on, what are these memories? And their strange identities one by one.

The Magic Guidebook in his hand fell; Li Ang’s hand covered his entire face, as his cluttered thoughts unraveled and reorganized.

He raised his hand to reveal his Magic Perception, switched to the Spiritual Horizon, analyzed the dimensional situation, and deployed the system map.

I’m still in the Material Dimension, time is correct, just shortly after entering Thousand Tower City. Then, this isn’t an illusion or Illusion Realm, it’s a city-wide cognitive rewrite?

What executed all this? A Demon? Spirit Casting Art? I was ensnared unconsciously; it should be an ability not inferior to Spirit Casting Art, yet there should be resistance.

Li Ang looked up; in the Spiritual Horizon, the whole city’s Magic Power — whether from the defense system or the crystal towers — all connected together, powering something.

Combining what Meimei once said about Thousand Tower City’s encounters on other world lines, Li Ang identified the power supply as the entity rewriting everyone’s cognition.

Looking at the complete magic delivery structure, it altered cognition by first selecting certain targets to impose upon, contributing their controlled Magic Power as the foundation, then further expanding the impact until covering the entire city.

Entering the city, the cognitive rewrite crushed him with all the city’s Magic Power; it’s the immense Power of the whole Magic City that rewrote his perception in an instant.

But as a Spiritual Forger, the depth of such a rewrite wasn’t profound enough. So, once implanted with memories fitting an ordinary male student’s cognition, the disharmony triggered his awareness and awakening now. Those so-called magic theories, when he intended to be a regular Caster back then, he had already sought and memorized them.

Li Ang found that the enormous Silver Mirror had vanished now. And that bell sound, though unknown, facilitated his awakening.

Reversal... among the Star Flower Travel Corps members seen till now, it’s most manifest in Dorothy. Meimei and Meluna also have quite some, but much lighter, probably owing to their strength.

The significance and aim of reversal, likely the city’s destruction.

The student who jumped off, and the missing people, could they be victims of the reversal?

Earlier, Meimei spoke unclearly; Li Ang currently has no idea how "reversal" results in destructive outcomes.

"More investigation is needed." Li Ang picked up the fallen Magic Guidebook.

First, he must rescue them from the reversal, ensure their safety, to proceed with the next steps.

Zoe, from outwardly warm to cold, yet trouble-making ability remains... well Dorothy, becoming a slovenly rough-mouthed girl, some roots unchanged huh... Da and Xiao Mei, why start a love triangle according to the plot? And Farina’s sister... what about the others, need to ascertain first.

First, check out that secret society skipping class, Li Ang shook his head, heading towards the grove near the Magic Theory building, leaving Fimis’s class behind.
