Chapter 1088: Chapter 530: Reversal

Was this deceased person pushed down by someone? A suspicion arose in Li Ang’s heart.

Soon, lecturers and professors appeared at the front of the teaching building, accompanied by the light of Teleportation Technique. They were all Tier Five or above casters, and the vice-principal and professors from various disciplines were all in the Excellence Realm.

"Oh, poor child."

A white-haired old woman in a holy servant’s robe clasped her hands in prayer, then released divine art to envelop the deceased with light, entering the Teleportation Gate with the mages beside her.

The old woman was Sister Salima, responsible for the Church of Myriad Hearts, whom Li Ang knew. She was a profound holy servant who served more than one Divine Spirit, which was said to be extremely rare in Nebis.

Due to this trait, she was employed to manage Mistrem’s Church of Myriad Hearts, teaching students who chose the path of a holy servant. In Thousand Tower City, religious atmosphere wasn’t strong; many so-called holy servants merely practiced this as a kind of special magic path, so someone like Sister Salima was indeed needed here.

Among the other teachers, some came forward to comfort the students who witnessed the suicide. In Nebis, life and death were unpredictable. Apart from a few students who seemed pampered and unexposed to death from a young age and were still shocked, others accepted the fact, with only a few people who knew the deceased speaking intensely with the teachers.

Once the scene calmed, the students dispersed and the teachers left, Meimei tugged on the dazed Li Ang.

"What’s wrong? Let’s go. You don’t think that just because someone died, you don’t have to attend classes, right? Every year, there are some magic accidents in Thousand Tower City, though our school’s level is high, making such incidents rare. But if it were Oktos, it would be unclear."

Seeing Li Ang still not stepping forward, Meimei pursed her lips, her eyes turning as if she decided something.

She suddenly hugged Li Ang’s arm, displaying a nonchalant boldness as if the intimacy was just due to her carefree nature, trying to pull him forward.

"Come on, let’s get to class."

A passing classmate chuckled, "Xiaomeimei, taking the initiative?"

"Hey! What are you saying!" Meimei was suddenly flustered and at a loss.

Once the classmates walked away with laughter, the white-haired young girl blushed and whispered, "Was it that obvious?"

"Very obvious," Meluna said.

Meimei jumped as if electrocuted, cautiously turning her head towards Meluna. The oppressive air surrounding the latter was almost materializing into pressure, with the magic power vortices around her seemingly ready to form sharp blades. Were it not for the magic-reinforced white pavement in front of the teaching building, it might have been ground to dust.

"I have a feeling that person was pushed just now," Li Ang said.

His words caught the sisters’ attention, immediately pacifying their situation. Both turned to look at him.

"Are you sure?" Meluna asked, tilting her head slightly, appearing incredibly pure.

"I was just wondering if it was my illusion or if I really saw it, but it should be correct."

Li Ang told them about the strange shadow he saw, which seemed like magic power causing the light and shadow distortion.

Meimei hesitated to speak.

Merely seeing someone on the roof proved nothing, so Li Ang said no more, entering the teaching building.

The inside of the palace-like teaching building resembled ancient architecture, but due to Thousand Tower City’s magic, the roads and facilities were both peculiar and highly practical.

In the entrance hall stood teleportation gates leading to different floors, and after passing through them, there were elevators that directly accessed special classrooms.

Some of these classrooms were built on observation decks atop attached towers, others were completely enclosed alchemy rooms without regular entryways.

However, Li Ang’s first class today was just a basic magic theory class, held in an ordinary stepped classroom.

As soon as he sat down, before the lecturer arrived, Meimei spoke up, "There really might be a mastermind."

"What did you say?"

"The recent rumors, combined with what you’ve just seen, reminded me."

"You’re quite gossipy."

"Mind your own business. Are you listening or not?"

Li Ang opened his mouth, softly saying, "I probably... am not very interested..."

"What?" Meimei frowned; she hadn’t caught what he said.

"Go ahead and speak."

Li Ang scratched his head, feeling unlike himself today, as if two mindsets were in conflict.

Instinctively, he didn’t want to meddle in others’ affairs, focusing only on his studies, but there was a thought of wanting to hear the gossip Meimei mentioned.

As the lecturer started the class, Meimei whispered, "In short, rumors have been going around the school about people disappearing. Initially, I treated them as school horror stories, but those rumors share a common factor: they’re all caused by an unknown shadow."

The white-haired young girl swallowed, "So, the members of our story club all named the shadow ’the mastermind.’"

"What story club?"

"Ah, never mind that! Anyway, it seems that if everything connects, then the shadow you saw might really be the mastermind."

The mastermind, huh...

Li Ang bowed in thought, then heard a voice calling his name.

"Li Ang, it appears your magic theory is solid, not needing class anymore."

Uh-oh, trouble. Li Ang lamented inwardly.

Called to the podium by the young female lecturer who smiled and asked, "What were you pondering? After not getting your diploma, which low-end magic industry do you plan to join?"
