Chapter 1087: Chapter 529: Feiyue Academy (Part 2)

"Such a clever technique that doesn’t consume Magic Power, the Combat Mage Department will have another genius."

"Not necessarily, this could also be useful in the Secret Realm Exploration Department."

"Practicing early in the morning, truly impressive."

"I kind of want to get to know her, make friends."

"Don’t even think about it, she’s colder than an iceberg, keeping people at a thousand miles away."

Many people witnessed Zoe leap from the heights into the pool, all expressing admiration.

"Turns out it’s not a prank."

In their eyes, the young girl was jumping as part of practice.

Can’t it just be a simple desire to swim? The pool isn’t open before the third class, that’s why she did this. Li Ang thought.

He wasn’t sure where this knowledge came from, but he had the sense that the awe-inspiring beauty of the student leaping at Feiyue Academy wasn’t for some noble purpose.

The pool was now inaccessible to outsiders, and from the plaza’s ground level, the pool hidden among greenery could not be seen; only the sound of splashing water echoed incessantly.

This further confirmed Li Ang’s thoughts.

Forget it, let’s head to the classroom.

Originally, he had an impulse to go and check out the pool, but was stopped by the rational thought of "Why are you doing this?" and the Magic Lock at the pool entrance.

Li Ang started walking, with Da and Xiao Mei still following behind.

"Hmph, my sister could do such a thing too, without all the hassle," Meimei said.

Li Ang looked at Meluna who was sneakily watching him; this he believed, the elder sister from his childhood playmates was truly skilled in Swordsmanship, her strength far exceeding her talents as a caster, even when attending school her hand-held backpack didn’t hold a Magic Staff or Wand, but rather a Long Sword.

She was a complete underachiever, only able to attend school due to her family’s strong background, yet she wasn’t weak.

And Meimei...

"Hey, why are you giving me that look!" the white-haired young girl protested coquettishly.

"I was thinking, you could do it too." Li Ang dared not say that internally he was comparing her to her sister, this would easily set her off. She wasn’t bad either, but compared to her sister, perhaps being a Water Mage might suit her more.

"Hmph, of course," Meimei nodded and puffed out her nonexistent chest.

Due to Mistrem’s luxury, each building on campus resembled a palace from different countries, supposedly, at their origins, they were donated by wealthy Magisters from major nations, perhaps with the royal symbols removed.

Around each "palace" were matching grounds or beautified greenery and courtyards, and depending on the teaching object of the building, some grounds became activity spaces.

For example, the Combat Magic course teaching building was a black Gothic spire castle, beside its light green lawn was a drill ground for combat courses, filled with Magic Targets and ground destroyed by attack magic.

And near the White Tower exterior of the Magic Theory teaching building Li Ang was heading to, there was a large park, though calling it a park, it could be termed a forest, due to its vast area and the blessings of Natural Priests, causing vegetation to grow exceedingly lush.

Within those forested shadows, Li Ang glimpsed a figure swaying.

Who is that?

"It’s best not to bother those people." Meimei’s voice came from behind.

"So who are they?"

"It’s ’them’, a few who’ve been giving professors headaches recently."

"Wasn’t the earlier one included?"

"Ha, I knew you’d take notice of her." Meimei’s tone grew increasingly peculiar.

Li Ang frowned, ignoring her, and strode forward.

"Hey, wait!"

Meimei ran to catch up: "I’ll tell you okay! They’re a group of students who’ve formed a secret society rejecting traditional teaching."

"Secret society? Rejecting teaching?"

"Thousand Tower City’s Three Major Schools each have their focus, but every year some students feel they’ve chosen the wrong school and want to transfer. However, transferring requires achieving certain grades here first, and some have such skewed abilities that meeting the requirements is hard.

"Hence, there occasionally emerge students under the guise of seeking the true path, gathering to cause trouble."

Meimei pouted: "Of course, I think it’s just excuses from underachievers."

"I see."

"Be careful, I’ve heard this recent society is quite unusual, filled with super strange individuals."

"How so?"

Li Ang listened with interest as Meimei spoke, and she seemed more enthusiastic because of Li Ang’s attention, quickening her pace to keep up with him.

"It’s said, just a saying, that among them there’s a Horned Race brute force strong enough to withstand magic, one who drags anyone who provokes him into mutual destruction, and another making eerie sounds and heat lights in the forest, with constantly changing size, yet no one has seen their true face!"

As Meimei continued, she grew fearful.

With Li Ang’s understanding of her, she’s quite optimistic and positive, not really afraid of strange or strong people, simply stating these things as spooky tales.

"Such a trio, huh?"

Li Ang couldn’t figure out what these students’ situation might be, but he was indeed piqued.

Walking to class with childhood friends was an ordinary repetitive daily routine, but today somehow, an unrest stirred within his heart.

Li Ang was surprised by this baseless, aimless agitation in his heart, it seemed unlike himself; yet they drove him to do something.

Perhaps these are signs that something is going to happen? Is this my youthful story?

Thinking about it, the three had reached below the Magic Theory teaching building, where a large group of people gathered.

Meimei tiptoed to see, but with her height, her view was completely blocked.

"What’s going on... Hey! Put me down! Ouch!"

Seeing this, Li Ang directly lifted her by the underarms, raising her up, the young girl’s face immediately blushed deeply, the flush even spreading along her slender neck to her collarbone.

Her limbs flailed weakly, only able to hum softly.

In Li Ang’s memory, he often played like this with her in childhood, but after a strange atmosphere arose among the trio, he hadn’t done this, and even being alone together was awkward.

"It’s, it’s up there, someone’s standing on the rooftop, don’t need to hold me up..."

Meimei’s voice grew smaller, Li Ang also saw the person standing on the rooftop.

After being put down, Meimei blushingly adjusted her clothes, quietly saying: "What’s with you today? So odd."

Indeed, he’d normally flee when seeing them, but today he didn’t. Even Li Ang felt inexplicably unusual.

He noticed Meluna beside them, with her head deeply lowered due to their interaction, her face covered by shadow from her bangs.

As he was about to speak, commotion in the crowd interrupted him.

"Is that person trying to imitate the girl who flew into the pool?" "No idea, seems he’s from the neighboring class..."

The student on the rooftop stood on the edge of the white tower, his body swayed, and he plummeted straight down from the heights.

He didn’t leap across the academy like Zoe, didn’t use magic, didn’t apply cushioning, he continued until he crashed down, smashing into a bloody pulp.

"Ah!!!"

"Someone’s committed suicide!"

Girls in the crowd screamed, chaos erupted in front of the teaching building, some were frozen, while others were so shocked by the bloody scene they fled.

Li Ang instinctively shielded Da and Xiao Mei, preventing people from rushing over, as he himself was stunned.

How could there be death here? In this magically illuminated, orderly Mistrem?

An idea flashed through his mind, causing him to look up subconsciously, faintly sensing an unnatural shadow flickering near where the deceased jumped.
