Chapter 498: The Monster Horde is Here!

Chapter 498: The Monster Horde is Here!

She felt it.

The feeling of fear pressing down on her!

[You are in the presence of a Legendary Monster. You have been inflicted with Dragon Fear.]

[You are feeling weak]

[You have been afflicted with Dizziness]

[Attack Speed has been reduced by 50%]

Solitary Tempest plopped down on a knee as she felt the world around her spinning and at the same time, she can also feel the ground trembling alongside the sound of rumbling like there are hundreds of horses galloping together.

'A dragon! The monster horde is here!' she screamed inside when she caught the figure of the monster that had flown past above her.

She knew trouble had reached their doors!

She could only hope that the deterring aura that Sofia had left behind for the village is still effective against a horde of stampeding monsters!

She's not worried about the dragon, but more on the devastation that the monster horde would cost!

They didn't prepare any defenses, much less evacuate the village since such actions are futile.

There's also the distance that stretches on for miles before anyone can reach the outer edges of Neverwinter.

Even then, their safety still can't be guaranteed since no two-legged creature has ever outrun a four-legged creature.

Only when the Dragon had flown over into the distance did the suppression on her disappear, but her plight wasn't over yet since there's still another problem she had to face!

"Crap!" she cursed as she slowly stood up from the snowy ground while looking at the countless and clustered red dots on the map swarming towards her direction!

Through the view from the skies, they would see the monster horde that Shadow had told Solitary Tempest before

Starting from the weakest Goblins to a flock of harpies, all the way to one of the strongest monsters, the Wyverns.

With their sheer numbers mostly made up of Goblins and Orcs.

She quickly took out the map she recently got and checked it before releasing a sigh of relief.

According to the map, there's actually a mouth or a main path to be precise that anyone can pass through in and out of the place without ascending this miles long mountain range.

"It's the easiest but most dangerous path" she said while slowly lying down on the ground and covered herself up in the snow as she didn't want to be spotted by any of the flying monsters and hoped for the best for everyone in the vicinity.

She had also understood why Shadow had taken the more arduous path on their previous journey, as taking the most obvious path would have been suicide.

Solitary Tempest watched as the flying monsters flew past above her, but the rumbling of the earth and roar of the monsters had never ceased.

On the other hand, while she's stuck under the snow.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

The appearance of the Fire Dragon flying past above the skies of the village quickly sent everyone into panic as the emergency bell attached above the village chief's house never stopped ringing.

"Everyone, get inside! Hurry up!" the armed militias on duty hurriedly gestured for the players and villagers who were still outside while yelling at them.

When the last group of people had gotten inside, the armed militia hurriedly closed the gates and when they did that, no one had noticed the slight shimmer had appeared around the village walls, though it only lasted for a second.

"Holy shit! Did you guys see that?! That was a freaking dragon, right?!"

"We saw it! Quickly post the photo you took on the web!"

The pioneering players all had the same thought when they first saw the legendary monster flying past above them, and that was to take a photo and competed to be first one to post about it on the players community.

[Fire Dragon Spotted in Neverwinter!]

[I saw a Dragon! I'm going to tame it!]

[Fire Dragon Heading Towards the Mainland!]

[How I Tamed This Fire Dragon]

[How To Train a Dragon]

Some were legit, while there were a few click baits and absurd titles that started appearing on the web, but through them, it quickly attracted attention to the threads.

But just moments after the Fire Dragon had flown past them, the people finally realized one more thing.

"Is there an earthquake?" a villager asked in wonder.

Gryaaah!

Roar!

What quickly followed were the bellowing of monsters in the distant skies and everyone saw the black mass heading towards them, filled with menacing aura.

"M-monster Horde!"

"Oh merciful goddess, please have mercy on us!"

"Ohhh! A new event is here! Quick, take a photo!"

"To the walls! We need to protect the village!"

"To the walls everyone!"

"This is exciting! Finally some action!"

Someone yelled in a hurry and everyone took out their weapons and ran towards the walls, be it the NPCs or the players, everyone ran, especially the latter group. They know that they will die trying to defend the village, but they at least want to get a hit in or kill some monsters to offset the penalty they will suffer after they die.

No one even had the thought of deserting, as pioneering and hard core gamers know that the losses they will suffer when they die won't even amount to the cost of getting blacklisted by the village since this is the only human settlement in the region.

And they will lose a lot of opportunities if that happens, not worth it.

Though there were some who didn't forget to take a photo of the scene and shared it on the web.

"Everyone to the shelter!"

Meanwhile, at another corner of the village.

Buckley along with his wife led the villagers towards an underground shelter, as they looked on worriedly at the horde of flying monsters heading towards their direction.

"So this is what she meant. Dragon God, please protect us"
