Chapter 491: Captain Joshua Gibbs

Chapter 491: Captain Joshua Gibbs

"W-we did it!"

"We survived!"

"It was hard, truly hard. Good job on surviving everyone!"

With the arrival of the reinforcements, the pressure on the people from Flame Rose Guild was immediately relieved, with the most noticeable change being that their Healers were able to maintain their Tanks at half of their Health now compared to earlier where a single mistake or distraction would have gotten them killed.

It wasn't even half an hour before the reinforcements had arrived when the swarm of Sea Monsters had finally retreated like a tide, showing that this attack wasn't just a coincidence and was ordered by someone.

They disappeared so fast that people would have thought that the chaos from earlier didn't happen and that it was just an illusion brought by the voyage.

"I am Captain Joshua Gibbs of the Fifth Naval Fleet of the Orvon Kingdom, who is the Captain of this vessel?"

Walking over the wooden ramp that connected both ships, a middle-aged man with notable thick sideburns boarded the tattered ship and introduced himself while his eyes scanned the worn-out players who just sat on the floor without a care and just watched the newcomers with tired but wary eyes, showing that they still don't trust them even though they had rescued them from their predicament.

Such wariness tells that they might have encountered something unpleasant in the past.

"I am the Captain of this ship, Minerva, guildmaster of the Flame Rose Guild. Thank you for lending us a hand earlier Captain Joshua" Minerva quickly stepped forward the moment the newcomers stepped foot on their ship, and at the same time, she was also scanning some of the players who had accompanied the said Captain.

His eyes slightly narrowed as he wasn't expecting the Captain of this ship to be a woman, but at the same time, he was also amazed to see such a capable woman as they are rare these days.

'She must be a great commander that they were able to endure the attack that long. If it was me, would my crew also be able to endure those attacks?' the man couldn't help but wonder and put himself in her shoes.

"No need for thanks guild master since we didn't just come here to help you but also to confirm if our suspicions were right" Captain Joshua replied while shaking hands with Minerva.

"Why don't we and our men continue this discussion inside my quarters while making our way back to the port?"

Hearing his words, Minerva and the others already had an inkling of what he meant by those words, even then she still had to ask to make sure.

"Gladly, lead the way, Guildmaster Minerva"

Looking around them, Captain Joshua also realized that their current surroundings were not a suitable place to continue their talk, especially if it involved matters of earthshaking magnitude.

The people from the guild looked at each other and started talking with each other in their guild channel.

[Wag Marites: I think…I smell a quest A huge one!]

[Pineapple In A Pizza: Well, we just had an encounter against the legendary Sea Race that was widely talked about in their history. So I'm guessing we'll have an Epic Quest at least]

[Lick Me To Satisfaction: Sigh~ I hope it is caused we suffered a lot of casualties and the guild expenses for this battle are astronomical]

[Too Strong For You: Well, the EXP Points were worth the trouble though. I gained another level just after leveling up yesterday]

[Black Dragon In My Left Arm: I gained two levels, so the trouble was worth it since I'm now able to use my recently purchased Broadsword!]

On the other hand, the players who accompanied the Naval Fleet are having an open discussion among themselves.

While leaning against the ship's railing with his hair blowing against the wind, a player called Pile Driver asked the players around him, "So did you guys get any good drops from those monsters?"

"My exp is half full and I also got an [Uncommon] grade Water Pearl. It allows me to breathe underwater for five minutes" one of the players replied with a smile on her face while showing off a marble-sized azure-colored pearl in her hand.

"I gained a level while my exp bar is already halfway full. I got a couple of copper and silver coins and a few useless loots that I can sell for a couple of silver coins when we get back" timidly replied a woman with a small stature and clad in priestess garments.

"We gained a lot this time"

"Yeah, we did, but we are also one of the lucky ones. Almost half of the players who joined this quest died, maybe even more"

"Casualties were bound to happen since the level gap between us and the monsters was considerably large"

While the players discuss their gains, Minerva and others are also having their own discussions with the Naval Officers.

"The Sea Race…are they really that formidable that the entire guard fleet of the port city was mobilized?" Minerva couldn't help but voice out her thoughts when she heard the explanation of who this particular race was and what they had accomplished during the war in the past that embroiled all of the races.

"They are..have you never read any books regarding them?" Captain Joshua said with a raised eyebrow.

"No, I have never heard about them, until now that is. Though what about the Dragons? Are you telling me that even those monstrous beings are wary of them?" asked Minerva with one of her arms crossed and the other rubbing her chin.

"Yes, but mostly towards the Sea Dragons" replied his first mate, whom she had introduced herself as Ran earlier, and she is a woman with quite a voluptuous body.

Minerva and the other looked at each other with visible confusion in their eyes. Maverick opened his mouth and said, "Hmm, are you telling us that the Dragon Race isn't one entity, but actually divided into two categories?"

"They are one and the same, it's just that the Dragons that dwell in the seas had allied themselves with the Sea Race and want to kill the Land Dragons, which the dragons that live in the continent have called themselves since to separate them from the Dragons that dwell in the seas.

It's pretty complicated, I know, no one really knows why those sea dragons even want to kill their own brethren when their numbers are already small in numbers.

The Sages probably know the reason behind it, but the common folks like us will never know" Ran explained and she could also sympathize with their confusion as even she doesn't really understand why the sea dragons or even the sea race altogether wanted to conquer the land when living on land is not even suitable for them, unless they already have the ability to transform into their humanoid forms.

"Though if you know any disciples of them, then we can ask about it from them" Ran added, her eyes slightly shining while looking at the players before her. She had heard a lot of their feats or more like stories about them, most especially their ability to revive after death. It perplexed a lot of people that some players were even kidnapped for it and experimented on.

The players exchanged a knowing look as they indeed know someone, a couple even.

Minerva turned her attention to Captain Joshua and said, "We'll ask around our friends if they know someone since everyone here must have already heard the news that some of the Sages had already started accepting disciples"
