Chapter 490: Enemies Incoming!

Chapter 490: Enemies Incoming!

"Hey fish filet, over here!"

[One Horned Arctic Whale (Level 31)

A deep sea monster that lives in the deep abyss of the ocean. It's a menace, and one of the most dangerous sea monsters in the ocean and would attack any ships spotted within its sight.]

Since [Taunt] isn't a single target skill, not only did Maverick attract the attention of this sea monster, but it also garnered the attention of the nearby Deep Sea Murlocs!

They immediately abandoned their opponents before them and mindlessly threw themselves towards him.

On the other hand, the One Horned Arctic Whale became even more maddened as it continuously rammed the ship on the same spot over and over again, slowly chipping away at its durability along while that side of the ship was slowly being punctured through.

And any minute now, the ship would welcome a hole that would endanger the lives of its passengers.

"Guild Leader! I don't think our ship will be able to hold on before reinforcements arrive!" Seeing the slowly dwindling health of their ship, a guild officer yelled in worry, his voice was also delivered through the guild channel for everyone to hear, making everyone worry.

"I'm done!"

The Goddes of Fortune seemed to be smiling at them today since Solitary Tempest was just in time as she had finally finished the spell cast for her skill!

"Get out of the way!"

With a yell, she suddenly jumped off from the crow's nest while her body was slowly being covered in an aura of a dark green color and dove towards the humongous sea monster while brandishing her weapon!

The players standing from that side of the ship immediately distance themselves as the dark green hue around her slowly gew denser until the color of her eyes and hair slowly became similar to the aura surrounding her!

[Reaper's Descent!]

Like an alien going Super Saiyan, Solitary Tempest swung her weapon across, and it was like time had stopped, the effects of the skill only manifested seconds later!

Shing~! Rummmble~!

With a sound similar to a metal being grounded against a grindstone, it was followed by the appearance of a huge gash on the seawater that stretched far and wide, around a hundred meters or so.

The scene was like a small-scale version of when Moses parted the seas!

Any living being along the range of the skill died, while the seawater rumbled strongly as it slowly filled the gaps caused by Solitary Tempest's attack.

The monsters and players alike stopped in their attacks as they witnessed an incredible sight that shocked them.

"Holy…sh*t! The heck was that?!"

A moment of silence later, one player let out a yell after his brain finally registered what had happened, witnessing the most devastating skill a player could produce!

Even Shadow doesn't have that kind of skill that can split the seas for a couple of moments!

"This skill is too devastating, that freakshow still had half of its health bar left but it still didn't survive it. No wonder it had such a long as* spell cast" Maverick muttered to himself as he leaned over the ship's rail and watched as the monsters that died from that attack turned into particles or pixels of light.

"That skill is not monster friendly at all"

Everyone was stumped, even the monsters, they just stood there staring at each other for a few seconds before chaos once again resumed!

Screech!

"Stop trying to kill them! Instead, push them off the ship! It would be easier that way!"

On the other hand, Solitary Tempest who had crashed into the waters is hastily swimming her way back to the ship, and behind her, there are a couple of monsters swimming after her.

[Healing Light!]

A small ray of light suddenly shined upon Tempest that quickly filled up a few portions of her missing health.

Tempest looked up and saw Miya, Minerva's sister giving her a quick smile before turning her attention back to her guild members and providing them with healing and spell buffs.

"Give Solitary Tempest cover fire!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With Minerva's orders, a rain of arrows and magic spells flew from the ship and bombarded the monsters chasing after Tempest, which were quickly followed by the sound of artillery fire!

Waves rolled behind her, which helped push her toward the ship and at the same time, the resulting bombardment also caused her to swallow a few mouthfuls of seawater.

On the other hand, the three Navy ships had finally gotten close to them and everyone on the deck became tense with worry and excitement!

On the flagship.

An old sailor ran towards the man in charge of this rescue mission, who was currently standing behind the wheel, and yelled, "Sir, we have entered within firing range!"

The Captain nodded in acknowledgment before sweeping his gaze over the players and his men standing on the ship's deck.

"All hands on deck! Get ready for battle!"

"Ready the bow artillery! Target those monsters chasing after that person on the water!"

"Yes sir!"

The same orders were carried out towards the two ships as the artilleries stationed at the ship bows were immediately loaded with cannons.

"FIRE!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The subsequent events caused the ships to slightly shake while the sound of the continuous sound of cannon fire made all the players' blood boil.

The healers and mages had all started casting buffs to their teammates and to themselves, causing varied colors of lights to flash all over the ship's deck as a result of the different elements of their skills.

"EXP points, here we come!"

"This is our chance to quickly catch up to the second-gen players!"

Second-gen players are people who entered the game during the time when the company had started selling the second wave of orders of gaming helmets and capsules, and the players who had joined this emergency quest mostly consist of players who had recently joined the game, the third-gen, alongside a few players from the second-gen.

"Brace yourselves! Enemies incoming!" a sailor yelled while pointing toward the swarm of sea monsters that broke off from their main swarm and turned towards their direction!

"Defensive positions!"

A group of archers and a couple of mages quickly lined up behind the ship bow, which was quickly followed by the long range players that wanted to take advantage of these NPCs by getting a hit on the monsters that these sailors would attack, resulting in a small portion of EXP points going towards them.

It's such a shameless move done by many, but even 1 EXP point counts.

This is why players love taking part in Expedition Quests where the army is involved.

It's a Fiesta!

"Here they come boys!"

"Artillery! FIRE!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"They're here finally" seeing that a large portion of the monster swarm had broken off towards their reinforcements made Minerva release a sigh of relief.

"Just hold on a little more everyone!" with a yell, Minerva focused her attention back to the battle at hand.

"[Spirit of the Wind!]"

"[Ice Blast!]"

Meanwhile, Solitary Tempest had made her way back to the ship, drenched, with her health in a dangerous level.

"Phew, I thought I was gonna die this time"
