Damien’s habit of playing the victim wasn’t new. Sora had already become immune to it, letting his words go in one ear and out the other.

She had deliberately sent him away during this lot-drawing assembly.

Firstly, he wasn’t confirmed as a capture target. If she called upon him for Night Guarding, it would be akin to acknowledging their relationship, which Sora felt was inappropriate.

Secondly, she also wanted to see how Damien would react.

After failing to get any information about him from the system again last time, she had completely given up on asking the system whether Damien was a capture target.

She had noticed that whenever she mentioned Damien, the system would encounter various problems.

The first time could have been considered an accident, but when it happened a second time, it inevitably made her suspicious.

Perhaps the system was deliberately preventing her from knowing.

She didn’t know what it was hiding, but it refused to reveal any information about him to her, no matter what she asked.

Since she couldn’t get any useful information from the system, Sora decided to investigate this bear herself and find out why he had come to the Tribe.

Whether he was a capture target would be known simply by seeing if the system reacted when she approached him.

Although making the wrong capture would hinder her completion of the system’s tasks, conversely, if she captured the correct target, wouldn’t it mean she would receive a reward?

Thinking of this, she wanted to test both Damien and the system.

And today’s lot-drawing assembly was a good opportunity to see what he would do.

No.

Just as she had expected, he had returned quite early.

Sora was very much looking forward to seeing what actions he would take to make her allow him to participate in Night Guarding.

However, why hadn’t he finished what he was saying just now?

Thinking of this, Sora asked again,

"Who is it? Speak clearly."

"It’s..."

Damien glanced at the Beast Husbands, deliberately drawing out his words before pausing.

Then he looked at Sora and asked,

"Kaelira wants to know?"

Sora rolled her eyes.

"If I didn’t want to know, why would I ask you?"

"As long as you agree to form a contract totem with me, I’ll tell you."

Sora: "..."

"Say it or don’t. If you don’t, then forget it."

He wasn’t the only one who knew.

Weren’t the other people involved too?

Moreover, agreeing to form a contract totem with him simply to know an answer wasn’t a worthwhile deal for her.

Upon hearing this, Ace scoffed lightly.

"You want to make a Contract with Sora with just one sentence? You’re really bold."

Damien curled his lips into an evil smile.

"I really do. If you were me, wouldn’t you want to become Kaelira’s Beast Husband?"

Ace’s smile, which had been on his lips, immediately disappeared.

This Black Bear was troublesome too.

Seeing that no one was moving, Sora fiddled with the bamboo slips in her hand.

"You don’t trust me to draw lots, so why don’t you tell me how this should be arranged? Should I pick one person every day?"

This was the easiest thing for Sora.

She only needed to point at one person.

However, she felt that doing so would make it difficult to treat everyone equally, and problems could easily arise later.

Still, it wasn’t impossible to do it this way.

She would simply have to establish some rules in advance to prevent them from finding fault with her later and claiming she was being unfair.

Picking one person every day was even less feasible.

In the past, Lucas would have gladly agreed.

After all, it was fair for her to be with whichever person pleased Sora the most, and the other Females in the Tribe did the same.

But ever since Lucas had caught Sora secretly with Lukan, he felt that Sora’s attitude toward Lukan was different from her attitude toward them.

If she chose Lukan for ten days—or even half a month—wouldn’t he have to simply watch the two of them together with wide, dry eyes?

"That won’t work either."

"This won’t work, that won’t work. Then don’t just keep denying things. Propose a feasible solution."

Sora hadn’t expected something that could be settled by drawing lots to be debated for so long.

Moreover, these people only knew how to reject her suggestions and couldn’t offer any useful alternatives.

What were they doing?

A denial assembly?

The atmosphere became completely deadlocked.

Sora saw that no one was speaking and felt that continuing this meeting was pointless.

She collected the bamboo slips, stood up, and said,

"Since no one is speaking and there are no good ideas, let’s adjourn. When you all have some thoughts, we can discuss this matter again."

Lukan, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke gently.

"I have no problem. I think Kaelira’s suggestion is quite good. I can be the first to draw lots."

After speaking, he gave Sora a gentle smile.

Sora’s brows instantly relaxed upon hearing this.

She looked at the others.

"Lukan agrees to draw lots. What about all of you? What are you going to do?"

Ace looked at the man before him, his expression full of dissatisfaction.

He really knew how to put on a show.

He had been silent just now, saying nothing, but now that Sora was about to leave, he had suddenly jumped out to agree with her.

That would only make Sora’s impression of him even better.

He took the credit for being the good guy while leaving them to be the bad guys.

What a hypocrite.

However, Lukan wasn’t as narrow-minded as Lucas thought.

The reason he had remained silent earlier was that he knew this group of people had opinions about him.

He was afraid that if he spoke, they would quarrel with Sora.

Sora was pregnant with a little cub now, and becoming too emotional wasn’t good for her.

Now that they were all silent, it was perfectly normal for him to express his stance.

He genuinely thought the lot-drawing method was fair.

Everyone had a chance.

It was simply a matter of getting that chance at different times.

Lukan’s words were like a drop of water falling into hot oil, instantly causing the atmosphere to crackle.

Ace saw Damien playing the good guy again and felt even more strongly that Lukan was indeed a wolf beast—cunning and fickle.

He hadn’t made a sound earlier, but when he saw Sora about to leave, he quickly agreed with her.

If these two hadn’t discussed something beforehand, he really wouldn’t believe it.

But when he glanced at the two of them, their eyes weren’t even meeting, which made him hesitate again.

The Night Guarding naturally had to be arranged.

However, the lot-drawing couldn’t simply be done the way Sora had suggested.

Who knew whether she had other intentions behind it?

Ace thought for a moment before saying,

"Then let’s take turns Night Guarding according to age! The older ones go first, and the younger ones go later..."

As soon as these words were spoken, Lucas immediately objected.

"That won’t do. Why should the younger ones be last? The younger ones should be first."

Among the few of them, Lucas was the youngest.

According to Ace’s arrangement, he would be last.

Why?

Ace looked at Lucas and replied naturally,

"Because you were born later."

"So what if I was born later? Didn’t I still become Kaelira’s Beast Husband just like you?"

Lucas retorted without giving him any face.

The two immediately began arguing endlessly.

Sora felt a headache coming on.

Xavier rubbed his fingers together and said,

"Since no one agrees, let’s go with the most primitive method: whoever defeats everyone else ranks first, and the others follow in order."

That was a good idea.

If you lost, it was because your ability was weaker.

You couldn’t blame anyone else.

Sora’s head hurt even more when she heard that they were about to fight.

Wanting to quell the argument as quickly as possible, she said,

"How about you all perform some talents, and then I’ll choose?"

Sora had said it casually.

But after the words left her mouth, she suddenly thought it was actually a really good idea.

She could even watch a male competition show.
